We’ve decided to address the callout post that was targeted at ‘self ship harbor’ (SSH).
Firstly, I would like to point out every flaw and issue with that post before we begin addressing what really happened with ACTUAL evidence and screenshots.
The first issue–they go on to make multiple accusations without posting proof or screenshots. They accused the owner of the server, Gloomy, for not caring about the people in their server and siding with manipulators. They continue to make claims without backing them up. This is destructive of their own argument, as they’re trying to claim that they’re the victims and that the children in SSH were the instigators of manipulation…while manipulating others by crying wolf with no proof. This issue alone has distressed a lot of members in our server, some as young as 13. Keep in mind, Vale and Grimm (the people causing problems on the server) are both 19.
The second issue with their behavior is the consistent use of name-dropping.
Two of the people who were name-dropped in this callout, Skye and Gloomy, are minors while the person who made this callout post on a throw away blog, Grimm, is 19 years old. Calling these minors out by name puts them in direct danger, because they are now exposed to the entirety of public Tumblr as enemies, even though they are children. They continued the trend of adults going after minors (the issue we were complaining about in the first place), which seems to be a common thing with both OP and Vale.
I’d also like to point out the part where they say ‘I wanted them to take responsibility for letting things get out of control.’ This is important to remember, because we have screenshots to prove we did not make SSH ‘spiral out of control’.
They go on to name drop another member for convenience, Joey. They accuse both Skye and Joey of engaging in damaging behaviors, yet they show no evidence and again just expect you listen to nothing but their word.
Grimm goes on to claim that they have never seen anybody call Vale out, and completely disregards the fact that a good portion of these issues can be and mostly should be solved via dms. They go on to claim that both Joey and Skye were both doing the same exact thing that Vale is being accused of (going after people and not allowing them to apologize), while again showing no evidence.
They accuse all of us of harassing their friends, while again showing no proof. To provide context, all of these issues were discussed in SSH’s vent chat, where more members came out about being hurt by these two people, and it became apparent there was a problem. Of course, these two people left with no real apology, only a poor attempt at damage control and a move to cover their own actions up.
We ended up moving to a group dm for all those who wanted to discuss how they’d been hurt and what to do from there. We moved to a group dm because it became clear that they had friends spying on us and reporting everything that was happening to the two. They both began to vague post on tumblr, and an unnamed minor on Vale’s side (we’ll call them UM) spoke directly to us in one of their posts, trying to tell us off for discussing their posts on their very public tumblr page. Grimm tries to use this to spin the narrative of us shaming UM’s private vent, despite the fact it was on Tumblr, and at the time this user was still following a lot of the blogs owned by people in SSH. They go on to say that it would have taken a lot of searching to find, but this person had not blocked anybody from the server at the time. Newsflash, this is the internet, everybody can see everything. Tumblr is not a place for ‘private vents’, especially not vents that are involved with the people you are following/are following you.
Grimm goes on to tell Gloomy that they are disappointed in them, using incredibly manipulative language like ‘we thought we could trust you’, ‘it’s clear you need someone to do your job for you’, and ‘you aren’t fit to be the owner of SSH.’ This is incredibly strange, as this adult had nothing to say during the multiple attacks on minors that were taking place during the past few weeks on Vale’s part, yet has so much to say about adults being asked to take responsibility for their behavior. Gloomy is also 17, and was very focused on making their server minor-safe, which makes this all the more strange that Grimm would just let this happen.
Grimm backed up this argument in a private DM to Gloomy by saying that they were ‘too hasty’ when making the decision to not let Vale and UM back in. Very funny considering that, in response to a gay man-aligned person gushing about his F/O (Jack), Grimm messaged him about his ‘fetishization of gay men’ and his behavior making gay men uncomfortable. If it’s hasty to make a week-long calculated decision on not wanting an adult who harasses minors in a personal server, it is certainly hasty to assume a gay man that you have never spoken to is a cishet woman.
Grimm accuses Gloomy of refusing to call off harassment of their ‘former server members’, despite the fact that the only people who had spoken to Vale after the last incident were Gloomy and a server member who we will call Jack (another minor). Both were just attempting to establish contact to fix issues and to work things out apology-wise. Jack was blocked.
They go on to say that anyone of any age can make mistakes. Yes this is true, but it does not justify a 19 year old adult name dropping minors and condoning another adult straight up bullying them.
Now, Grimm also goes on to say that they apologized through Gloomy. But as you’ll see from screenshots, they did not. One said they were sorry, yes, and then both dipped and have been completely silent despite multiple attempts from Gloomy and that other friend. That is not an apology. To apologize is to own up to your actions and admit what you did wrong. This is both something Vale and the minor tried to push onto people, and yet they cannot even follow their own logic.
They then tell people that if they ‘have any sense of dignity, and for their own safety’ not to join SSH. This is a blatant manipulation tactic. They go on to say they don’t want anybody to be harassed, yet they name dropped 3 people, which tells a lot about what their true intentions are.
Now that we’re done picking apart their argument, let’s get to the screenshots. (Note: for those not in the selfship harbor discord, “mulberry” is a safeword used when someone feels uncomfortable with the topic of conversation and would like it to change.)
