This day last year #AltonSterling was fatally shot by BRPD for selling CD’s.

Sterling was selling CD’s in front of a convenience store. Baton Rouge Police report the shooting happened around 12:30AM. According to a local TV station Sterling was shot in the chest and back multiple times.

Body cameras worn by the two officers involved fell off during the altercation, but there is footage from a dashboard camera and at least one surveillance camera.

Alton Sterling was the father of five. A neighbor said of him, “Whatever he cooked, he cooked enough for everybody.”

Federal prosecutors will not bring criminal charges against either of the Baton Rouge city police officers -  Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake II - involved in the shooting.
