Ink Pale and Blush Dust

So, here is the thing. These two dolls (these are just the heads) were actually my first doll projects. They started off great, but I had to learn through creating these two my many...many mistakes.

Left Photo: So what happened to this one was the absolute innocence when it comes to rerooting a doll head; I overfilled the holes with too large plugs. Not only did I break A LOT of needles needlessly, I also split the head, as indicated by the arrows. And now because of this fact, I will also be wasting nylon doll hair to take it all out to fix the head and reroot all over again.

There is also the problem that the face got super shiny.

Why, you ask? Well, I am pretty sure it had to do with the fact I oversprayed on the MSC sealant.

Oh yeah, that is a thing. Don't do that thing.

Right Photo: As for this doll head, while I did a lot better on the sealant, I made the mistake of trying to take too much on for only my second doll. This is a Clawdeen Monster High Doll head that I am going to fit on a Clawd body. As you know, the two have different skin tones.

So what do I do?

I decide to change both the head and the body color entirely. Beautiful color, but a lot for a first time doll creator with not very much experience under the belt.

And that is not all.

I also removed the ears and wanted to reapply them lower on the sides of the head. Like so.

What's that? What is the really dark material around the base of the ears? Why, that is ANOTHER mistake I had made. I had bought black apoxie sculpt instead of white. Why is that a bad thing? Well, black is harder to cover up with color, especially if you are doing a full body color change.

By the way, the apoxie sculpt did not work out too well. It did not stick very well to the squishy head anyways.
