“Yeah, those things! Like the ones they have in those display cases in the hallways. And honestly, I’m not sure? You can probably buy one online, I bet. You can buy anything online.” She shrugged, an easy grin on her lips. “Oh, I see. That sucks that you fight a lot, but yeah…In the end, that’s what really matters. I don’t think my brother and I have ever really fought, but we don’t clash a lot. I just wish we were closer, but I love him a lot. I don’t think I’d be able to survive without him, either. Not again, anyway—he disappeared once, and I don’t want him to do that again, y’know?”

“Huh… That’s true. You can buy practically anything online. You can buy, like, three-course-meals and vintage toys and puppies and private islands… The internet is a crazy place.“ Lilo chirped, shaking her head slightly. To be quite honest, she wasn’t as technology-crazy as many of her classmates - she had an iPhone but usually preferred her good ol’ Polaroid over it - but, still, she did occasionally enjoy surfing the net. Besides, computers were definitely helpful when it came to her assignments and researching things for her classes. Nodding her heads, a wistful smile appeared on her lips as she replied with, "I mean, we need to stick by each other… She’s all I have, and I’m all she has, y'know? We’re sisters, we’re family, we’re each other’s ohana. Oh, okay, I see… Well, I mean, you should tell him how you feel! Go and do sibling-ly things together, like, uh… Well, something you both like to do! Like, uh... Maybe video games?"

‘Yeeah,they look like they’d be pretty sour and tasteless.”She said with a nod,she’d seen the cartons with those huge berries.”Well tha’ts slightly better then I thought. Oh she’s bad at cooking,that’s sucks. Ooh that sounds good! I like blueberries and sugar.” They were her favorite tea time snack,they were great in milk too.”Oh wow,Hawii! That’s sounds like the perfect place to live! I grew up in Duckburg,which is in Calisota. We get snow so Mistletoe is great. Uh yep,plenty of times. How about you?

“They're not very good. I like sour stuff, but when they're super sour and nothing else? Ick. No thank you!" Lilo admitted, making a sour face for a moment before chuckling and shaking it off. "She's not very good at cooking... Or baking... So, I help! I mean, Nani's good at other things, like cleaning and doing laundry and stuff, so it works out." That's the way it worked with the Pelekai girls - Nani did the cleaning and the laundry, and Lilo did the cooking and the baking. That way, they would have food on the table, clean clothes in their closets and a fairly clean home to live in. It was the perfect system. "Duckburg? Where's that on the map? I don't think I've ever heard of it... But it sounds real neat! And, well, no... I've never had anybody to kiss under the mistletoe, I guess. Plus, my sister and her boyfriend would always hog the spot, so I never had the opportunity." 

“I’m not ready.” She froze in place. *Prom dresses are always a big deal.. You can’t just make one!”

“Well, you're gon'na have to get ready! Everything's comin' real fast." Lilo replied, trying her best to be reassuring. To be honest, the Hawaiian girl was too laid-back and easy-going to be too concerned with everything coming her way - she didn't need to get great grades in class, she was looking forward to summer vacation and prom wasn't such a big deal to her - but, still, she knew that she had to do her best to comfort this girl. Tilting her head to the side, she frowned slightly, pursing her lips for a moment before adding, "Why not? I can sew! I can sew real good, actually! I sew most of my clothes, y'know. Besides... If I make my own gown, I know that I'll have a dress that doesn't look like anybody else's. That's important, right?"

“Yeah it’s suspicious,” Shenzi narrowed her eyes, before sitting back in her seat properly, still watching the girl. “No one’s that nice.” The girl–Lilo–was too bright and bubbly and there had to be some ulterior motive. Something underneath that thousand-watt smile. Experience had taught Shenzi that much. “Kiara. Kibwe. Tall, and a pain in the ass,’ she scoffed, gesturing at Lilo. “You look around her age anyway.”Her frown fading into a bored expression. A few seconds later and the older student let out a sigh, turning her head to the girl again. “I’m Shenzi. Don’t bother me with stupid questions. If you wanna sit then sit.”

“Me? Suspicious? No way! I'm as innocent as an angel!" Lilo insisted, trying her best not to grin and laugh as those words left her lips. A wrong smile or even the tiniest of giggles would totally give away her cover; after all, she was anything but an angel. "And I'm nice! Really nice! Ask anybody... They'll all tell you that I'm really nice. An angel, even! Honest." She was a nice person, after all - that wasn't a lie - but the girl was no angel, not by a long shot. This girl looked like the perfect person for her team of troublemakers; if she was able to get her on her side, it would probably help her out a lot to have someone like this girl on her side. A wide smile forming on her lips, she nodded her head euthusiastically as she replied with, "Yeah, yeah, I know Kiara! We're really good friends. She's pretty cool. Like, really cool. One of the coolest people at this school. I don't think she's a pain in the ass... Then again, my sister thinks I'm a pain in the ass, so it's kind'a relative, I guess." Then, relaxing in her seat a little, she turned to face the girl as she replied with, "Well, alright, then. So, I guess we'll both be sitting here." 

“I can’t say that I’ve ever been to a prom either, but I’ve been to similar events that’re a hell of a lot fancier and incredibly boring. I wouldn’t say that I’m not excited, I’m just indifferent to the whole thing. You’re making your dress? Well, that’s certainly a bold risk to take. Dancing is enjoyable, just not when you’re packed into a crowded room with sweaty teenagers.”

“Indifferent? Well, I guess it's up to you, but... It should be fun! I mean, not a whole lot'ta fun goes on 'round here, so when something really fun comes around... Well, it's a cause for celebration, I think! Well, uh, I'm planning to... Maybe... I mean, I don't think I'll be able to afford a fancy dress, so it might be better to just, uh, make my own, y'know? DIY? Do-It-Yourself? I can sew real good, and I've made dresses before! I make most of my clothes, actually. Not really fancy ones, but I'll come up with something. I think I can do it. I just need a pattern... And lots'a fabric too. And, well, yeah, I guess... But you can still dance with your friends, right? That's fun! Even if it's crowded and hot and smelly, it's fun!" 

“I wish I could snap my fingers and one would appear,” Kiara sighed longingly, bursting into giggles a moment later. Despite her mother’s objections, she’d never be an angel. She wouldn’t be perfect or the golden girl, and she was perfectly fine with that. “Well, now you do! And it does, so you should embrace title. We should get it on a plaque or something. And nah, not really. I mean, he’s already dealing with enough shit that I don’t really want to add to that. Oh, that’s really nice! That you’ve been together since, well, ever.” She shrugged, a bit envious of how Lilo and Nani had always been close. After her brother had disappeared, it’d been just her—she wouldn’t deny those years had been lonely ones. “Exactly! It’s better to be yourself than what people want you to be, even if people keep telling you not to be that. Plus it’s a lot more freeing, y’know? You don’t need to feel like you’re stuck in a box.” She would know from experience; all that had been shoved down her throat since she was two was how to do this and how to do that without any breathing room for what she wanted to do. “Yep! Oh, yeah, speaking o here, did you hear about the prom that’s coming?” she asked, a wide grin forming on her lips. “I’m so excited.”

"If only we could all have a Fairy-Godmother like Cinderella." Lilo sighed wistfully, a small smile forming on her lips. It would have certainly helped when she was younger and wanting to fit in with everybody else. They had never had the money, so she could never afford the shoes, the clothes, the dolls, the gadgets... Even now, money was still pretty tight. "A plaque? Oh, that would be so cool! Like those things that are in the glass cases, right? Where do you go for those kind o' things, anyways?" Then, she chuckled, shaking her head as she added, "Well, it's not always good... We fight a lot. But, we're sisters, and at the end of the day, we love each other. So, it's okay, I guess. We wouldn't be able to survive without each other."

“Oh did you?”Webby asked with a smile.” Oh so that’s the diffrence. Store ones are huge! I bet those ones are much better. Did you use to eat Strawberry everything?”She said while looking at the little berries,some of them oozing out juices.”Yep,that’s why they’re not used for anything. Oh were did you grow up? Yep,kissing under the mistletoe is an awesome tradition.”

“Yeah, they're so big! Too big, I think. Big ones are so... So... So sour." Lilo declared, her lips puckering up as she remembered the sour taste. Then, she added, "We didn't eat strawberry everything... My sister tried to make different things, but she's real bad at cooking. We'd just eat them dipped in sugar! They're really good that way." At the very least, they were definitely better dipped in sugar than they were in Nani's excuse for strawberry jam and strawberry short cakes. Even the thought of those attempts made Lilo a little sick to her stomach. "I grew up in Hawaii! It's really warm, so I don't think much mistletoe grows. And, yeah, it's real cute... But Nani and David would just use it as an excuse to kiss all the time, and it was gross! Ick. Have you ever kissed someone under the mistletoe?" 

“If I’m being completely honest, I don’t see why everyone is making such a big deal out of a prom. If I wanted to dance around in uncomfortable outfits with people I don’t like, I’d go home and attend one of those stupid balls.”

“Well, I mean, I've never been to a prom, so I don't know what it's like... But, from people've been saying, it sounds like lots'a fun! You're not excited? At all? Not even a little bit! I've already started making my dress; just need to get some fabric! And, besides, dancing's lots'a fun! Do you not like dancing? 'Cause that would be weird." 

“Dug has a new joke, and it is funny! Dug finds it quite amusing, would you like to hear it? Please, oh please let me tell you it!”

“A joke? Yeah, I'd love to hear it! I love jokes, 'specially really funny ones, so if you think it's funny... Well, spit it out! What is it, Dug?" 

“What do you mean graduation?? End of the year?? Finals?? Look for prom dresses?”

“Yeah, aren’t you excited? I’m definitely excited! It’s starting to get warmer, and that means spending more time outside… And summer! I love summer. And prom sounds like fun! You get to dance at prom, right? Dancing's fun! We had prom back in my old school, but I was only a freshman, so I didn't get to go... It's only for upperclassmen there. But prom sounds like so much fun! It's good that us younger students can go too!" 

“Don’t make a YouTube video,” he exclaimed, though his words were muffled by a mouthful of chicken, and Pinocchio couldn’t help but laugh. Slowly but surely swallowing, he wiped the corner of his mouth with a napkin, smiling sheepishly at the girl. “I don’t know, honestly. They should probably start hiring cooks that know what they’re doing.”

“I wasn't gon'na make one, silly! I don't have a video camera on me, not even my phone! I do have a camera, though, so..." Lilo trailed off, pulling her beloved Polaroid out of her backpack and taking a quick snap of the boy. The Hawaiian was by no means a photographer, but she still loved taking pictures of memorable moments. After all, a picture was worth a thousand words. Smiling widely as the picture developed, she shook it a couple times to speed up the process, a handful of giggles escaping her lips as she did. When the picture looked good, she handed it to him and added, "This one's a keeper, for sure." 

“I have one too many admirers. Maybe this’ll weed out the weaklings,” he shrugged, tugging a lighter from his pocket and lighting the joint, taking a drag. “Why should I? It isn’t like their opinions matter. Why am I going to be bothered by one person that thinks I’m an asshole when I already know I’m an asshole? You just have to accept yourself.” Gaston tilted his chin upwards, smoke curling from his lips. 

"Well, your good looks won't last forever, y'know." Lilo pointed out honestly. She had to admit, he was a good-looking guy, and girls probably liked him for that reason, but at some point, those good looks would fade. Personality was something that lasted forever, and this guy... Well, he wasn't exactly likeable, at least to her. Still, she understood what he was saying about just accepting himself for his faults. People always teased her about being weird, but Lilo's philosophy was just to embrace the weird. She was never not going to be weird, so why not embrace it? The same applied for this man. "Well, I guess if you think you're never gon'na change... Embrace it. But, I dun'no... I don't think it's good to be an asshole to people. You should at least try to be nice."

Grim merely rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest, clearly annoyed by the girl’s assumptions. It’s not that she wasn’t happy, it was just that Grim didn’t need happiness to feel whole. While some people relied on tranquility and joy to get by, she could easily rely on chaos and trouble to get some sort of fulfilment or to feel content with herself. She’d been like that for as long as she could remember and certainly didn’t plan on changing anytime soon, even if someone like this younger girl tried to turn it around on her. Besides, the girl was probably just trying to make her feel bad for ruining the strawberries she had no business picking in the first place, so Grim allowed it to simply roll off her shoulders.

Honestly, Lilo couldn't imagine a life without happiness. Sure, the young girl had been through a lot - perhaps, too much for a girl who was only sixteen - but, through it all, she had found things that allowed her to be happy. She had Elvis Presley, her sister, her Polaroid camera, the afternoons she spent taking pictures of tourists and swimming in the sea... The Pelekais didn't have much and it wasn't always for easy for them to get by, but Lilo was content. Her parents had died in a terrible accident, but she couldn't let their demise ruin her for the rest of her life. They would have wanted their two girls to be happy, and Lilo was, for the most part, happy. It was the little things - in this case, a small basket of strawberries - that made life beautiful.

“The most angelic, really. All I’m missing is a halo,” Kiara affirmed, drawing a circle in the air around her head with a finger. “Yeah, you should be honored, since I don’t just bestow those titles to just anyone. Yeah, I feel that. No matter what happens, they’ll always end up being there for you in the end. It’s really nice. No way, I don’t prank him. He’s too serious, anyway, so he’s really easy to tease. I haven’t actually seen him in a while until coming here, so I’m been mostly catching up with him and making up for lost time and stuff, you know? Yeah, ‘course! I wouldn’t lie about that. Embracing the weird is so much better than just following everyone else. Rebellion is always fun, I would know. I’d rather be who I want to be than try to fit into a box of an identity that I don’t want. Ugh, mean girls. Hopefully you won’t find any of them here. Yeah, exactly! So boredom works both ways. It just sucks being bored.”

“Well, a halo shouldn't be hard to find! Put one on and you'll definitely look the part." Lilo replied with a chuckle, the smile on her lips causing the corners of her eyes to crinkle as she giggled. She was anything but an angel, and didn't want to be. The Hawaiian girl loved trouble, and getting into trouble was basically her favorite sport. "Well, I am! I've never held a title before, but I like it... The prank queen... The Queen of Pranks... Kind'a sounds like a cooler version of the Queen of Hearts, don't it?" Then, a shocked expression crossed her face as she exclaimed, "You never prank him? But it's so much fun! I prank Nani all the time... But I guess it's 'cause we've been in our lives for, like, forever. We've never been apart." Nodding her head, a grin formed on her lips as she added, "Yeah, embracing the weird... It's the best way to deal with it, y'know? I'm never gon'na be normal, so I just embrace the weird. I love myself the way I am, y'know? And rebelling, it's a whole lot'ta fun. Who wants to conform to society? Society's boring. And, well, I'm sure there are a few... But there are enough nice people to make up for it, so it's all good! I think I'm gon'na love it here." 

Shaking her head as if to disregard her disregard her silent comment, Ariel placed her hand to her throat while slicing the other in the air, as if to tell the girl she couldn’t speak. It was the easiest way to convey her condition without writing it, and to be honest, her hand had never been more tired. “Lost my voice,” she wrote, holding up the pad for clarification.

“Oh, okay! You lost your voice!" Lilo repeated, a look of understanding crossing her face as she nodded. She was usually quite the talker - Nani would always complain that she was too much of a chatterbox for her own good - so she could only imagine how excruciating it would be to not be able to communicate verbally. This girl seemed like she was handling it well, though. She was definitely handling it better than Lilo would have. Tilting her head to the side, she asked, "Is it laryngitis? I know that when people get laryngitis, they can't talk... My kumu - I mean, dance teacher - got it once, and he couldn't talk for two weeks! Or is it bronchitis? Does your throat hurt? Maybe, you need some throat lozenges!"

Webby hmmed a the girl’s berries and thought about what she said,she’d always been itchy and blah after eating the berries but she never seen anyone else be like that when she did so maybe the girl was right and she was allergic too them”Hm,you might be right about that so sure you can eat them if you’ve had them before. Though there’s lot’s of poisonous berries out there,mistletoe and holly are some of them. And yes,they make me itch.”

“I've had 'em before! They used to grow in our garden! This exact type; kind'a small but really red. That means they're organic; no pesticides or anything gross like that." Lilo replied proudly, remembering the days when she and Nani would pick them straight off the runners and then pop them into their mouths. Nani would always promise to try them in new recipes - she would get recipes for jams and cakes and cookies, all kinds of sweet treats that she would inevitably burn - but, most of the time, the two just ate them dipped in a little white sugar. That was simply the best way to eat them. Tilting her head to the side, she pursed her lips before adding, "Mistletoe berries are poisonous? Oh, I didn't know! Mistletoe doesn't grow where I'm from... I'd only see it at Christmastime 'cause of the tradition and stuff."
