shroudedodessa‌:
The moment she said it, Odessa knew it should have been obvious. “I heard that turned pretty lethal.” At least from the pieces of information that were circling around town. Granted, some were considerably more exaggerated than others, so what the actual story was, she wasn’t sure. “What happened?” She said, meaning both in the larger sense and in the more personal sense for Brianna. Odessa shook her head in response to the question. “They didn’t get much of a chance.” Her gaze moved to their hands as Brianna took hers and she stiffened for a moment, before relaxing and letting out a soft sigh. She squeezed her hand a moment before reaching for the unlit candle on the table and moved it into the shadow of the napkin holder. Holding her hand there for a moment, the small shadow moved to engulf the candle and it disappeared from sight. “Where do you think that goes, now that it is gone?” She asked, waiting a moment before meeting her gaze again expectantly.
“I don’t think they had an intention of ever letting any of the hostages go.” Brianna shuffled in her seat as she looked down at the table, not able to bring herself to look at Odessa. “I made the mistake of angering the guards. I was the one who pressed the silent alarm for the police and they caught me.” Just mentioning it was enough for her to feel like she could still feel the hand wrapped around the top of her arm dragging her out. Seeing Odessa stiffen caused nerves and the feeling of butterflies to return to her stomach, she waited to see if her ex would pull away. A small smile tugged at her lips when she squeezed back and a sense of relief filled her as she watched in curiosity at what Dess was doing. “I-- don’t know Dess. That’s a bit like asking where I pull lightening or rain from. I’ve never really understood how any of us are able to do what we do or even where we get it from.”
