it is worker's day, and not labor day, because what has been celebrated since the late 19th century is the working class, the proletariat, not "labor" in the abstract. The working class is defined by its subordinated position in the capitalist system, and consequently, its ascensionary aspiration to implant its own system, which would simultaneously destroy the class of workers as it is known today. It isn't defined by its labor, which isn't a unique property of it as the capitalist is also a able to and does exert labor, not to mention that labor has no inherent character and it is instead subordinated to the productive system in which it is organized. Labor (the act of working, not the abstract gelatinous sum of all human concrete labor) in capitalism is alienating to the worker. In communism, labor will be the force that binds the entirety of a classless society together and enable its will. If anything, it is the capitalist class that would celebrate labor today, not us. We celebrate our class pride because there is no other character to it than a revolutionary one. But this question is also something that isn't very appropriate for agit-prop, and rather something I personally wanted to mention. awawawawa
