It was with great pleasure I received the news of Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna receiving the Nobel prize for chemistry today for their discovery of CRISPR-Cas9. Emmanuelle did this discovery while at Umeå University. In 2015 I did these illustrations about CRISPR-Cas9 for Umeå University and Emmanuelle! Older holiday card design, from 2015! The billy goat (julbock) is an old Swedish symbol used around this time of year with origins in Norse mythology. It has with time fused with the Christmas traditions.
