Ohno Satoshi’s existence is special for so many reasons, but one that always strikes me is how he sets an example for quiet leadership. For a man of so many talents, he asserts himself in subtle ways - like knowing just what to say when the camera is on him, to make everyone around him laugh. He’s earned the respect of others in the entertainment world just by being his own fisherman self. For someone who says he doesn’t like a lot of attention and who represents many of us that are introverts, he has certainly gifted us with so much in these past 20 years.

Hello! Here’s my translation of the segment Shou did with Udou Yumiko on News Zero. It was a very lovely interview, please enjoy!

Udou: How are you feeling right now?

Sakurai: Absolutely.

“It’s not even a disbandment. Only hiatus. And it’s not happening tomorrow, or next month not even next year! So what are you guys crying your eyes out for?!!”

This you might heard your other self tells you and maybe the other fandom or people do. But please do know that what you are feeling is valid. Cry out! Burst out! Don’t hold back your feelings. We are not over reacting. Arashi isn’t a form of idolatry to us. Its not just a mere idol-fan thing. To many of us,

Arashi is a friend who makes us happy in down times.

Arashi is a teacher who corrects the wrong we believe right.

Arashi is a home where we can run to in times of exhaustion.

Arashi is a family who believe in us in times we doubt ourselves.

Arashi is a dream all of us worked and working hard for.

Nobody is entitled to judge what you are feeling. We are with Arashi for a decade more or less, others is even 20 years. You are entitled to what you feel. Cry today. Cry tomorrow. Cry whenever you are feeling to. Its not bad that for once or even twice, let your emotions get the best of you.

But after that, feel better. Stand up. Stand tall. Because Arashi will still be with us for 2 years more. They wouldn’t want you to just cry and feel miserable the entire time.

Lets cherish them and reach December 31, 2020 hand in hand with them. So we wouldn’t have any regrets before letting go.

ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5X20 translation (There might be a lot of mistakes)

Question 1: In this past 20 years, where do you think you’ve grown up (or become an adult)?

Aiba Masaki: Speaking of age, I’m fully adult but.. hmm my preference becomes more simple and I spent more time to take care of my body, too (bitter laugh). But I don’t have “This particular thing change”. I become more settle together with my age.

Sakurai Sho: Probably when I face the Juniors. Since Jr. era I always think about “Junior always get some help from senior” and now I’m on opposite position and still think about it. But..maybe because I came across 30 years old, If there is a thing that I can tell, I want to connect with the next generation.

Ohno Satoshi: I become more like a kid (laugh). Formerly, I was all grown or more stoic. People said I was stoic on my twenties. I also think that way. But, because of that moments we understand something aren’t we? Now, for example I can set my own purpose, like “If I do this, it will be like this” or “This should be this!” we understand that (laugh). “This should be done!” like that. But I also become loose. It is not bad also right?

Ninomiya Kazunari: There is no particular changes. Because speaking of age, I am an adult.. I never think “That is kid” or “That is adult”. Hmm.. I care about my health more (laugh). Right, not making my body on madness as much as possible. I think that is adult.
