Hi Monica, the mother of Blueinno!
We usually see Monica in the classroom teaching. Sometimes itâs not easy for her to talk a lot with parents and everyone after class. Thatâs why we do this interview with her so you get to know her a bit more!
Who are you?
Hello, I am Monica, founder of Blueinno Technology Limited. I work as an engineer for over 10 years, and I'm also a mother of a 2-year-old baby girl (see the pic!). My baby girl is the one who inspires me to start my own education technology company.
 Whatâs the belief behind Blueinno?
I believe everyone should learn coding, and I see the needs of teaching hardware for coding education. So, I introduce real life hardware projects that can help kids to visualize and understand how hardware and software fit together. This will help to enhance kidsâ logical thinking, problem solving skills, and also help students to build confidence.
How long have you been teaching?
I have been teaching since 2013. At first, I volunteered as teacher and engage in public talks about technology education. Then, I started to freelance with curriculum development as well as teaching. At that time, I was still working full time. In 2016, I started Blueinno Technology, and teaching has since become one of my core competency.
What teaching method are you using?
1 Make Education
I am a supporter of make education (ĺćĺ). I believe young kids should make to learn that can help them to understand what they are building, coding and making.
2 Software Hardware Integration
I believe students should learn coding in parallel with technology related subjects as part of their knowledge and skills. How ever, many kids found it really hard to understand the concepts. The electronics and robotics projects curriculum that me and my team build is here to bridge the gap.
3 Positive Education
I believe education should help kids to build confidence, and it should be interesting and inspiring too! My goal is to inspire the next generation to be inventor of technology instead of purely users.
Anything happened recently that reminds you the most important thing about STEM Education?
It made me excited when I saw a group of girls holding their handmade robots, laughing, and looking so proud of their own creation. Adding design and technology elements to our coding classes actually has inspired more girls to learn about technology.
What's your wish now?
I hope more people in Hong Kong understand the importance of technology in our global environment. Engineers and software programmers are important assets to any modern city. Also, as you may have noticed, many global gigantic firms are related to technology, such as Google, Apple, IBM etc. Even the richest banks and traditional media companies need to implement technology in their business to help them grow.
I believe anyone can make something and anyone can learn to code. Many problems can be solved using technology and creativity. Why not consider learning to code, to build, to invent and most importantly, to make things that shape the future?
