Edutainment Appreciation

Finally rounding up the core JumpStart cast with a character that's not an animal: Botley the Robot. Here, he's a robot built by the world-renowned genius, Professor Spark. He was originally built as a bodyguard for the professor's spoiled daughter Polly, but has since abandoned his job and Hopsalot took him in as his assistant, which he enjoys a lot more.

Personality-wise, he can be a bit of a wise-cracker and narcissist, but he stays true to his word and can help out anyone in need, seeing as he's a robot. Design-wise, he's a teal/cyan-colored robot with rose-red eyes. Need I say more?

We're almost there, onto the 2nd Grade mascot redesigns: CJ the Frog and his trusty insect sidekick Edison the Firefly. A strange friendship, I know. But I've seen stranger alright! In this reimagining of the duo, CJ is a worldwide explorer who always enjoys his time out in the wilds, much to the reluctance of his pal Edison, who prefers staying at home doing his own things. Though Edison's lightbulb bottom is sure to help CJ light up dark temples and read some strange writings inside. Design-wise, there's a contrast between the explorer outfit-wearing CJ and the sweater and bowtie-clad Edison. One's an extrovert, the other an introvert. Go figure.

The last of the "Preschool Gang" to be redesigned by yours truly; Kisha the Koala! She is a gifted artist and art prodigy who isn't above and beyond making the perfect masterpiece on her easel. She is also an eco-friendly nature lover who prefers riding bicycles and watering flowers, much to her best friend Eleanor's delight. For Kisha's design, she keeps her iconic art beret, but wears a purple and pink striped shirt and lavender pants, and wears a green apron with a leaf pattern. Gotta love her aiming for a traditional artist look. ^^

The next of the "Preschool gang" from the JumpStart franchise to get a redesign: Eleanor the Elephant. Design-wise, she's not changed much, taking influence from her 3D version with a purple dress and not wearing shoes, but instead of a hairbow, she wears a butterfly pin around her left ear. Personality-wise, Eleanor's a kind little girl who enjoys cute things such as flowers, butterflies and the such. But she doesn't realize her own strength due to being an elephant, capable of lifting boulders and trees. She also enjoys reading books as her favorite pastime, and would often daydream of being the main character of her own self-insert story.

Here's the next JumpStart character to be redesigned by yours truly. Pierre the Polar Bear of the "Preschool gang". Here, he's a pretty shy child who enjoys PB&J sandwiches. But he's a real good prodigy on musical instruments; the saxophone is his favorite instrument. Design-wise, he wears a green beanie hat and matching overalls, and a red and white-striped shirt.

Here's the next JumpStartee to be redesigned in my own style. Casey the Cat of the "Preschool gang". Here he's depicted as a teenager and a kid-friendly version of Bart Simpson; rebellious and tough yet kindhearted on the inside. He also enjoys sports, especially skateboarding.

For his design, I gave him his signature skateboard, a backwards baseball cap, a t-shirt with a red lightning bolt in the center, some skateboard pads and some bandages on his left cheek and tail. Who says you can't get into accidents, hmm?

Since JumpStart has been defunct since 2023, I thought to myself: Do we technically own these characters now that their parent company has been shut down? If that's the case, then I'm taking it upon myself to revive these colorful cast of characters we know and love. Starting with Frankie the Dog.

Design-wise, I gave him a red sweater and dog collar with the words "JS" in it, along with a star-shaped badge on his chest. Personality-wise, he's a friendly and sociable canine with a heart of gold. He always stands up for his friends and a great role model for the children. There's a reason why he's the leader of the pack. ^^
