Today In Star Wars History… End of a First Season.

On March 20, 2009 — the final episode of Season 1 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars aired in the U.S.—closing out a groundbreaking first season that reshaped Star Wars storytelling for a new generation.

Season 1 gave us deeper looks at Anakin Skywalker as a Jedi Knight, introduced fans to Ahsoka Tano—who would go on to become one of the most beloved characters in the entire saga—and expanded the scale of the Clone Wars beyond anything we had seen before.

• The finale (“Hostage Crisis”) featured bounty hunter Cad Bane in his first appearance—instantly becoming one of the most dangerous villains in the series

• The show was overseen by Dave Filoni under the guidance of George Lucas

• Early fan reactions to Ahsoka were mixed—but she evolved into a cornerstone of modern Star Wars canon

• The series pushed cinematic-quality animation for TV at the time, with each episode costing around $1 million

What started as an ambitious animated series became one of the most important pieces of Star Wars lore—laying the groundwork for everything from Rebels to live-action Disney+ shows.

Hihihi, I'm sorry for not posting for a while, and I know this is super late, but have this drawing I made for the anniversary of the airing of Hostage Crisis, Cad Bane's first ever appearance on screen!!! :D

I sadly don't have a drawing this year (Burnout is rough rn 🫠), but Happy 17 Years Of Cad Bane! 17 years ago today (yesterday my time), "Hostage Crisis" Episode 22, Season 1 of The Clone Wars aired on TV! It was Cad Bane's first ever appearance! ^^
