Everyone had passed out upstairs, drunk on cheap beers from the gas station. Mattie had had one or two but she pretty damn good at drinking games and managed to smoke everyone else in all the games they played. But now that the sun was down and everyone was asleep, she found herself carefully making her way downstairs into the dimly lit house. She was staying at her friend’s house over the summer. He had said his parents were chill with hosting a bunch of rowdy kids with college. What he hadn’t mentioned is how charming his father was. Never in her life had Mattie been the type to chase after an older man, hardly cared about that sort of thing. She was the type of have men chasing after her, drooling in the palm of her hand. Mattie knew this was wrong, he was married – but she had noticed he slept on the couch more than she and her friends did. So Mattie decided maybe he just needed a friend, and she could spent a little more time with the man. Mattie wasn’t going to do anything about her little crush, never wanting to but him in a position that made him the bad guy but — she couldn’t help but get a thrill anytime they were alone together.
