let me say i do love molly deeply and it’s clear taliesin had so much fun playing him and he is conceptually one of the coolest cr characters ever BUT in c2 molly feels kinda useless?

im only up through ep 17 and i do feel like some of it is incredibly bad dice luck but other characters are able to recover from missed hits/saves in a way molly isn’t

it seems like everyone else was able to get grasp on their characters and how they worked a lot easier than taliesin which i think adds to it, almost 20 sessions in and he’s still really uncertain about how best to help in an encounter, and then he gets hit and takes 8 billion points of damage and loses a lot of confidence

a lot of his skills are too niche to be helpful every hit against him lands and he has no ranged attacks beyond devils tongue and when he does take a chance on melee attacks it some how bites him in the ass immediately 😭😭

he’s kinda a shitty talker and an even shittier liar, the way taliesin plays him is like he wants him to be a character with high charisma and he’s not so he is consistently failing charisma checks

the animated show did a really good job at refining his character into the moral compass/joining force of m9, but in campaign he feels like extra baggage which suckssssss because you can tell how hard taliesin is trying :/

i think one of the things that might have made it hard is that molly as a character doesn’t have goals or motivations beyond keep moving and doing what entertains him, everyone else has goals that ground their characters and molly doesn’t which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it seems like taliesin struggled with how best to use that but idk

it’s jason hearing bruce’s voice in his head

“i know you know who i am” -> i know you know that i can’t do what you want me to do, because that’s not who i am

jason being unable to reconcile that bruce can’t be who he wants him to be and still caring about him/what he thinks

and bruce holding on, not letting go, not letting jason accept that they’re different and moving on

idk it just makes me think about about bruce’s inability to let jason go and it destroying jason slowly
