Biography
Flick was born in Providence, Rhode Island to two pure blood werewolves. Juliet and Sam had both just joined the Lorenz pack, working their way up to becoming betas. They had married, both abandoning their previous packs for being too tame, and not appreciating that humans were beneath werewolves - something they raised Flick to believe.
As she got older, Flick would regularly go out on hunts with Razor and Heaven, fascinated by Razor’s whole demeaner, though she knew ultimately that Heaven would be Alpha. Her and Razor got so close that the two eventually started dating, it being a natural progression that eventually, she could become his wife.
It was supposed to be an ordinary hunt, humans in the area who could be rounded up and killed. But what they hadn’t expected was the heavy artillery the hunters would have, Flick watching helpless as the hunters murdered their attackers - the Lorenz Alpha and his wife, as well as Flick’s parents.
Flick stayed with Razor, enduring his rages and anger, and supporting Heaven as much as she could, pushing to be third in command after Razor. As he approached his sister, challenging her to a fight, she tried to warn him not to, that things were fine as they were. But her pleas fell on death ears, and she watched as Razor tore his sister’s throat out, declaring himself the Alpha.
Almost immediately, the pack felt even more extreme, the hunts more aggressive, more frequent, and even Flick felt sickened by it. It wasn’t just humans being targeted, it was other smaller, weaker packs, anyone that showed any sympathy towards humans, and killing pack members that tried to leave or disobey. That was why Flick waited until the pack were all asleep after a hunt, and she fled, leaving everything behind, shifting and running as far as she could, trying everything she could to lose her scent, so Razor didn’t find her. She’d be dead if he did.
She ran until she came to Creation Peaks, and it didn’t take long for the town Alpha to approach her, warning her of how things were ran there, and Flick was honest about her past, about her disdain for humans, and an agreement was reached - she would be allowed to stay, but she had to change her ways.
And over time, she did, getting herself a job at the hospital, and eventually even meeting a human and falling in love. Still, softening to humans hasn’t been a weakness to her, still aggressively protecting the pack where she needs to, more than willing to be the muscle and get her hands dirty if someone needs to attack.
She just never thought she’d see the Lorenz pack again. It’s her worst nightmare coming true.

The fact that his daughter knew, that she knew and had been fed only the perspective of a coward. She wouldn’t understand herself, what her blood caused her to crave for. The human, the half-breed and their baggage was forced upon her while all other alternatives were denied to her. She would be the strong, and she would be punished for it. A violent snarl escaped his lips at the rage Felicity’s answer caused.
As she yelled and hollered at him, the Alpha growled back at her. “Fight me, Felicity,” he goaded lowly instead, as if the words didn’t want to even form, his tone guttural. He stood back for a moment, watching her crawl pathetically, watching the werewolf he had once chosen as his mate—and the apparent mother of his eldest child—be resumed to a human–loving roach. A reminder to never fall, no matter how much the mighty were destined to do so.
Contrary to popular belief, Razor was a strictly into monogamy. Meaning that when he got into a relationship, he expected it to be a long relationship. He also had some other wild expectations… But that was the most important: you choose a mate, and you both commit fully—you didn’t run at the first chance you got. Therefore, Flick’s last request felt like a kick to the balls. There was a faint glimpse of pain in his red gaze, but it was too late.

Flick was hysterical as she was pulled up against his chest, his claws digging into her throat, and she couldn’t stop the sobs that rocked her body, the scent of fear thick in the room. Even as he spoke of taking away her children, of doing the one thing she promised would never happen to them, tears rolled down her cheeks, running down the hand that held her throat. She didn’t care about the weakness she was showing, didn’t care about looking pathetic - she had nothing else to give, nothing else to lose.
From their feet she heard a faint buzz, her phone having fallen from her pocket in the scuffle. Staring at the message, she let out a sorrowful howl, an anguished cry at never being able to respond to it.
‘Don’t worry. I’m fine. I’m with someone. Not alone. Love you.’
Kaden wasn’t planned, but he was loved fiercely from the moment Flick knew she was pregnant with him, confident in him being born into a safe, loving family and pack. Even after marrying and settling down, she still occasionally questioned the life she’d made for herself, that she was lesser than she had been, that maybe the old ways were the right ways. But then Kaden was in her arms, a perfect mix of herself and her husband, and half human, and Flick knew she was where she needed to be. Alex had forced her to change, but Kaden had been her reason to embrace it.
“Tell him... Make sure he knows that I... he.... he has to know....” She sobbed, begging a man who would break every promise, trying to remember her last conversation with her son early that day, unable to remember if she told him enough that she loved him.
The pain was sharp, yet short. Maybe that was a blessing that she didn’t have to think about it, or feel it. She didn’t even feel herself falling, the world around her going blank, her last thoughts being her sons words, and how much she loved him too.
A heaving sigh escaped him at his mother’s words. “Wha—No.” He stated somewhat sharply. “Mom, I’m not defenseless or some… some problem child that you constantly have to babysit so I don’t step out of line.” He remarked. Sure, he had his problems with his temper control, but he hated the idea that he needed to be babysat. He allowed his mother to embrace him, although he was fully aware by this point that she was really marking her scent upon him. It wasn’t his first rodeo, after all.
When he got a moment to step away, he frowned a little more harshly. “They’re not going to ‘get in my head’. I already made it clear to Razor, Kiera - to all the Blood Moons that keep pestering me - that I’m not interested in what they have to offer. It’s not like I’m just out there holding my arms wide open for some sort of embrace from them.” He shook his head a few times. “The thing with Razor… I don’t know. He made some remark about you when I made a remark about hating the politics of this stupid war we’re in with them and I just mouthed off - that I had my reasons for staying out of all of it. That’s it.” He commented about the information he had given the rival Alpha.
His mother’s words about being perfect the way he was roused a clear response from his eyes, but he outwardly tried to suppress it and just shrugged his shoulders some. “He made remarks… the typical spiel about being human, being weak - and choosing to be so because I stay away from the pack. I didn’t tell him about those reasons though - I didn’t tell him about the anger issues.” He spoke.
When his mother gave him ‘permission’ to kick the ass of the young man he remained blissfully ignorant to being Razor’s own son, he just scoffed some. “Trust me, we’ve tangled a few times - I’ve chased him around in full shift a few times; he’s got this really annoying habit of calling me a ‘baby wolf’ or making some remark about ‘not being a human and being a wolf’ or some stupid crap…” He complained and shook his head dismissively.
“Regardless, I’m going to be alright. I mean, after all, you’re always here if I need you. Right?” He gave his mother a warmer smile finally.
.
“You will always be my baby, just like Alex will. You’ve just gotta deal with that.” She teased, rubbing his arms gently as she looked him up and down as he explained what happened with the alpha. She couldn’t help but be proud of the man he was becoming, in some ways already was. That someone like Razor couldn’t break his spirit, couldn’t bully him into being someone that he wasn’t.
“Okay... I trust you.” She nodded, smiling at him and lowering her hands from his arms, not wanting to overload him with PDA, knowing he didn’t want to be coddled. That was one thing she would never understand about Kiera - how coddling could be a weakness. If you could protect your child from the world, even just a little, shouldn’t you want to do that?
“You can be a wolf and a human. They can coexist. It took me until I became a mother to realise that, and lucky I did, else I wouldn’t have met your father, and you wouldn’t be standing here.” She chuckled. She looked down and nodded as he said he’d be alright, and she couldn’t resist it, stepping forward and giving him another hug.
“Whenever you need me, I’ll be there with you. Every step of the way.” As her phone beeped, she wrinkled her nose, and looked down at it. “... Except for right now. We’re expecting the last group of residents within the hour, and I have to find out which rooms are available. But as soon as it’s over, you, me and Alex? We’re gonna find a quiet corner, drink hot chocolate and just spend time together. Some nice, quality family time.”
Teddy continued staring down at Kitty as Flick spoke, her words didn’t make complete sense to him, wondering if she spoke from experience. When she said that she looks like her mom he laughed, “I never met her mom… her and Kitty’s siblings were killed by hunters. My dad did the rest by… killing her father.” He mumbled before sighing.
Chewing at his lip he smiled at the idea that Kitty would never take shit from him, “I’m actually kind of looking forward to that.” He admitted softly.
.
Flick nodded, smiling sadly. “Her brother told me. The Raynes were so loyal to the old ways that your father claimed to love so much... If he’s willing to do that to someone who follows them, that says a lot about what he’d do to someone who won’t.” She caught Teddy’s eye, giving him a look. One that said run and never look back.
As her phone beeped, she looked at it and nodded to herself. “I have to go see what my kids want, and I... Really need to go and hug my son right now. Hopefully soon I’ll be off the clock and I can spend some time with him and my daughter.” In earnest she took his hand, squeezing it. “For all the good reasons? I hope we don’t see each other again.”
Looking up at Flick when she talked about the impression he’d tried to do of his father, with a shake of his head he looked back down at Kitty, stroking her hair before looking over at the sigh. Listening to her words he laughed, looking back down at Kitty. “No one can make him stop, he’ll kill anyone who tries. He’s like… a monster, sometimes I wonder if he cares about anyone other than himself… but he’s my father, he’s my blood. How do I turn my back on that? On my pack? My mother… How do I do that? How do I walk away from everything I’ve ever known for a girl I love more than myself?”
As he looked up at Flick he shook his head, “How do I make an impossible choice…?”
.
What Flick didn’t expect was Razor’s son breaking down in front of her, and she stared at him, trying to find any hesitation, any lies, anything that would tell her that he was about to run and find his father, to laugh in her face that she bought his act. Instead she watched tears build in his eyes, and he talked of love, and for a moment her heart felt a pang, because there was once upon a time she had loved Clarence. Had thought that he was her everything despite their differences.
But then she’d fallen in love with someone that she loved more than him, loved more than herself. As she thought of that, she looked away, closing her eyes.
“... Because when you love something so much that it hurts, you would do anything to protect it. Even if that means turning your back on everything you’ve ever known and walking away. And sure, it’ll fucking suck. And you’ll do things that you never thought you’d do, and maybe you’ll hate yourself for those things. It’ll hurt like hell but then you’ll look at her and you’ll know that it had to be done. That you walking away is the best thing for her.” From the sounds of it, the girl in his lap was done with Razor too. Looking down at her again, and closer, she tilted her head, chuckling sadly. “... She looks like her mom. Lily would never take shit from her husband. You’re gonna have your hands full with her. You better be ready for it, kid.”

Kaden knew his mother would instantly go on the defensive and enter protective mode at the mention of Razor and his wife. When she grabbed his arm, he glanced at the grip but then looked back at the woman. “I’m fine.” He assured her, but shook his head some - rolling his shoulders. “I don’t know, not much? He stopped me from jogging into some hunters that were beating the crap out of some guy they thought was supernatural? He didn’t ask too many questions.” He thought back on the encounter.
“He knows I’m not bonded to the pack? I kind of told him that it was a personal choice, but he was making it sound like I was too weak to be a part of a pack or something stupid…” He shook his head solidly. “I didn’t tell him about you or Alex, but Mom - he made a couple of remarks about ‘my mother loving me no matter what’ and some other comments… I think he at least suspected I was your son, even without me telling him. I don’t know for sure.” He frowned at his mother.
“Kiera just stopped me in the halls to tell me to clean up my scrape so the vampires wouldn’t get riled up; and make I guess what would pass as small talk? I don’t know, my interactions with the Blood Moons have been really confusing. Other than this excessively annoying and aggrivating dick—I mean, guy. Not much older than me. Don’t think I ever asked his name between snapping at him because he just always seems to get under my skin.” Kaden growled as he spoke about Teddy.
.
Flick cupped his cheek, closing her eyes and letting out a sigh, trying to process what he told her. She would never be disappointed in either her children, but she was still a mother, and could still be a little frustrated. It wasn’t maliciously, but more out of fear and concern.
“I should’ve kept a closer eye on you...” She sighed, wrapping her arms around his waist, and resting her chin on is head, allowing herself to scent him. “This is what he does. Finds ways to get to people, why would you tell him about not being bonded to the pack?”
Flick had only run into Kiera the once, but the dislike between the two women was clear. “Just.... please don’t let them get into your head. Don’t talk to them past small talk. Don’t let them make you think you are less than what you are, that you’re weak.... You are perfect as you are, Kaden, and me and your father love you so much, with or without the pack.
She kissed the top of his head, stepping back to stop crowding him. “Though whoever this guy is? If he gives you trouble, I’m letting you kick his ass.” She smiled, winking.
When Flick threw in his face that he hadn’t been a father to Alexandra, Razor growled threateningly. “You didn’t give me a choice. You took her from me!” the Alpha werewolf snarled angrily. “Her brother!” Razor snarled violently when Flick brought up Theodore. As for Anastasia, it wasn’t her business. After all, that was problems of the purebred, who truly understood what it meant to be a wolf… Something Flick seemed to have forgotten. “You will feel exactly how I feel,” Razor admitted to his intentions.
The local Beta’s roar was met with the Alpha’s, red eyes burning with hatred. He’d take Alexandra and force her to accept her place with the Lorenz family. After all, whether anyone liked or disliked it, she was a Lorenz and belonged in the Blood Moon Pack—it was her birthright to have a chance at the Alphahood. “Does she know?” he questioned with a low growl as Flick pulled herself up, slowing it down before dashing forth again, clawing at her wildly—clouded by the boiling rage running through his very veins.
Razor wanted t break her, to tear Flick apart. For leaving them, for making him think it was just a matter of time before she submitted to her homepack, for keeping a child from him. It all culminated to that moment, and as he had with his sister, Razor was ready to be the stronger wolf.
.
Her whole body shook with the effort to pull herself up, staring at him as he asked what her daughter knew. “She knows. And she knows just what you’re capable of.” She forced out. She still remembered Alexandra at 5 years old, asking why she didn’t look like her mommy and daddy. It broke her heart today as much as it did that day.
She tried to edge away from him to the door, but ended up screaming and sobbing as he dashed at her again, her body feeling on fire, the copper scent of blood in the room almost suffocating. “RAZOR, PLEASE! I’LL DO ANYTHING JUST DON’T TAKE ME FROM MY CHILDREN!” She screamed, in that moment not caring who heard, not caring about anything other than her son and daughter. Kaden still needed her. He was still a baby, and she just wanted to hold him through his rages, reassure him that everything was okay. That he’d find his place in this world, that he was okay. To hold her daughter and promise her the world, just like she always had done. She’d turned her entire world upside down for her children.
“I’ll do whatever you want, I’ll come back, I’ll kill whoever you want. Razor... baby please, please don’t...” She needed him to still want her, because it was all she had left to give.
When Kitty was tucked in, Teddy remained quiet, just watching her face for any sign of discomfort. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear finally looked back up as she began to speak, her question made him snort softly.
As she continued on with her words, stating that she couldn’t remember a time when his father sat with her like he sat with Kitty.
Looking down at at his girlfriend he just smiled at her, stroking her jaw before pulling her closer protectively. “I may be my fathers son, but I will never be him.”
That was something Teddy had begun to learn about himself, no matter how hard he tried, he would never be his father. Anything he did would never compare to Razor, he could pretend and pretend all he wanted to be the perfect son.
He could do everything his father asked and it probably still would never be good enough, but he was still his father.
.
“Hard to believe, you were trying to do a less scary impression of him the last time we spoke.” Flick said, raising her eyebrows at him, trying to read the boy. She could see Razor in him easily, but that meant she could see her own daughter in him as well.
Despite Flick’s hesitation to believe him, she looked over the other wolf, checking for any signs of distress or fear, but there were none. She looked back at Teddy again, and sighed.
“He isn’t going to give you any other choice than to be him. Same as his father. It’s a vicious cycle that isn’t going to stop until it’s made to stop.” Honestly, Flick was disappointed the local hunters hadn’t stepped in yet.
She rambled on about packs as if she knew what she was talking about. As if Felicity had any idea of what it meant to be a leader—an Alpha. She couldn’t even if she tried to. Then again, Flick acting in such matter could only mean one thing: their Alpha wasn’t a purebreed or was a Bitten werewolf. Disgusting. The more he thought he found out about the local pack, the more disappointed he was. They weren’t even a worthy adversary.
Sad, because Razor would’ve let Flick and her halfbreed to join him if she took Kayla’s Alphahood and founded a branch of the Blood Moon Pack—just for old time’s sake. However, after this? She lied, causing the Alpha to growl loudly. With her step backwards, Razor took one forward. Had she been telling the truth, even if it meant her death, Razor was sure Flick would’ve stepped forward in challenge. She couldn’t have changed that much.
“Prepare to fight. A challenge, if you will. On the upside: if you win, you become Alpha.” His teeth sharpened in his mouth. “How… fucking dare you?” The moment the question left his lips, he dashed forward with a snarl, throwing quick punches at her abdomen. Truth was, he wasn’t at his best. He had yet to take care of the wolfsbane wound Eponine had given him, but Razor was too egotistical to think about that just then. Best and worst case scenarios were useless. Most likely scenario: his wounds would take longer to heal.
.
The moment she stepped back she knew she’d made a mistake, it was a reflex, an attempt to keep distance from his attack, instead of a confident step forward, the same way she used to in their old arguments. Even when she was lying, she’d always told herself if she lied with such conviction, she could make him believe everything. But his growl told her that the game was up. There was nothing she could say to change the fact that Alexandra was a Lorenz by birth.
“My daughter. Not yours. You’ve done nothing to deserve that title. I left so my child had a chance in life. Not like your Teddy. Not like the sibling you pitted against him!” She snarled, shifting and preparing to fight for the Alphahood. There was no other option or outcome she could focus on.
She tried to slash at him as she was punched and winded, roaring ferally as she attacked back. She cried out as the punches knocked her back, and she quickly rolled over to pull herself up, not wanting to stay in a prone position.
After his talk with Kaleb Teddy had gone back to Kitty, tucking her head gently into his lap and covering her with a blanket he’d managed to snag. He was staring down at her, thinking of how to answer her question, would he go with them? Would he defy his pack, his family? All for a girl he’d known nearly his entire life, someone he had only just realized he loved. Would he turn his back on all of them and run… for the chance to live a different life with her.
He was pulled from his thoughts by the scent of the local pack, a scent he was quickly becoming familiar with considering his numerous run ins with them, Kaden, Betsa, Flick. When he looked up he found the latter looking down at Kitty before he gaze lifted to him.
At her question he glanced down at Kitty, stroking her hair gently. “Yeah… probably.” He whispered, swallowing as he furrowed his brow, tracing a finger across her cheek. She looked so relaxed that it was kind of scary, he’d never seen her like this before and he kind of enjoyed it, even despite the circumstances that brought them here.
.
She stepped away from the room briefly to grab one of the hospital blankets, coming back to crouch in front of them and drape it over her, the way she remembered tucking her own children in when they were smaller. She kept her body tense as she did, a false of habit when a Lorenz was being quiet, but soon she realised it wasn’t the same as Razor’s quiets. Those were filled with tension, with promise of a threat. There was none of that here, just a quiet calm as the smaller wolf slept.
“... Still planning on killing me so daddy dearest can praise you for it?” She said, raising her eyebrow, crossing her arms as she moved to a pile of boxes to sit against, watching him even as she did, just in case this really was all an elaborate ruse. “Can’t remember a time your dad sat with me like that. There wasn’t affection without there being a passionate fire behind it.”

“Leave it alone…” He repeated, his voice hoarse—bestial almost—, speaking in growls as his muscles rippled under his skin. “Leave it alone?” The Blood Moon Alpha managed to take a step closer to rather than dash straight at Felicity. “The way you left us… with my child?” he asked with a deep growl, nails elongating into claws. “Tell me, Felicity… How old is Alexandra?”
Another step forward closed the gap between both lycanthropes further. Razor moved slow—like a predator stalking his prey. Every cell in the Alpha werewolf’s body was full of adrenaline, but he stepped slow, soft… yet ready to pounce at any given time.
.
“Yes, leave it alone. Kayla’s pack, your pack, it doesn’t matter right now. We’re all stuck under the same roof, all suffering in the same way until this storm passes. It’s one night, it’s not going to hurt.” She said, but even as she spoke, she was unnerved by his silence. It wasn’t a calm by any means, it was the same anxiety-inducing calm that had terrified Flick about Razor. The unpredictability of it. Remembering the times she wasn’t sure whether he was about to murder someone, or hold them.
Her stomach flipped as he mentioned their - no, her daughter’s name. She tried not to react, to stop her heart skipping a beat like it was desperate to. She knew it didn’t come from Kaden, he promised that he had never mentioned Alex or her to him when they spoke.
“Twenty-seven. I got pregnant when I got here.” She lied, her body stiff, taking a year off of her daughter’s age. She took a slow step back, keeping her voice soft, just like she remembered doing before to try and calm him. “You need to leave, Razor. Now. Please.”
After her talk with Kaden, Flick paced the halls, restlessly. A lot of people were settling in for the night, the last batch of families should be arriving at the top of the hour, and then after that... they just had to wait and see what happened. Looking around, Flick frowned as she spotted two wolves in one of the rooms - she assumed from the Blood Moon pack, because she definitely knew one of them was Razor’s son. The same boy that had given her attitude weeks before. The other wolf was asleep, her head in his lap, and she looked at the Lorenz again, seeing he was staring at her now.
“Your friend looks a little cold.” She muttered. “She need another blanket?”
Instead of groaning as he usually did, Kaden just let out another small sigh as his mother pecked his head. With everything going on at the moment, he was willing to endure some babying. It would be a blatant lie to say he wasn’t a little bit scared. Although he frowned at the news his father wasn’t there with them, he nodded a little bit. “Probably better that he isn’t here.” He voiced what his mother was most likely thinking.
He looked around the room some before putting a hand lightly over his stomach. “I guess I could eat when they get some food scrounged up for us.” He stated. When she directed him to not venture out too far from the room without having someone else with him, he did groan some. “Mom… come on, I’ve already met Kiera earlier, and I met Razor a few weeks—-oh. Right… hey, Mom, so we need to talk.” He pursed his lips some. He had talked to Betsa about letting his mom know about meeting with Razor, but he continued putting it off until he forgot about it.
.
She nodded. She wanted her husband here badly, for the four of them to just curl up in one of the rooms, find some dumb board game in the children’s ward to play, and just joke around. Just to be normal for a little while. But the Blood Moon pack wouldn’t see the severity of what was going on around them. Would see any weakness as a way to hurt people. She knew because once upon a time, she’d been like that.
“You--- excuse me?” Flick’s eyebrows raised, and she held Kaden’s arm softly, not wanting to hurt him, and not because she wanted to scare him, but because she was scared for him. She didn’t mention her children to Razor or Kiera, and made sure no one else mentioned them to them either. “What did he say to you? What did you tell him? Did he know you were related to me? Did you tell him you had a sister?”
After leaving Alexandra behind, Razor made his way through the hospital, pushing past those slow enough not to hurry out of his way. Red eyes sported shamelessly as rage boiled in his every cell, Razor let his nose lead him towards the familiar scent of Felicity. Hopefully, her Alpha was with her so he could kill two bitches with one stone.
Entering the room, the Alpha was disappointed to find Flick alone… Although her pack must have been near because Razor could sense quiet the few scents on her. The Blood Moon Alpha’s red gaze met Flick’s and he growled threateningly. Perhaps it was true, and in the end there had been something for his once-love in whatever small, icy rock he had instead of a heart. Perhaps he hadn’t killed her sooner because, in his own way, he felt for her. Or perhaps the sudden realization was filling the gaps in his memory where sadistic hatred was meant to be.
Then again, how was he meant to react to a piece of his very self being denied to him for so long… Maybe even too long.
Flick left the volunteers on the lower floor of the hospital, heading upstairs to check on some of the empty recovery rooms, setting them up. They had word that at least 5 more families were coming in, and this room’d have to do for them. Quietly she set up quarters, drawing screens to separate out between families.
Hearing the door open, she opened her mouth to ask someone to go and grab the blankets when she caught the scent and her eyes closed. She turned slowly, rubbing her face. The pack were aware his omegas and betas were around, it just seemed the man himself was as well now.
“Whatever you want to threaten me or my Alpha with will have to wait. This is an emergency, none of us have the time or patience for it tonight.” She said, looking up at him, realising his eyes were already glowing. “Just leave it alone for once, Clarence.”
“Pack would disagree.” She points out easily enough, it was easy to spin something anyway they wanted it after all, the pack thought her nothing but dead and if told otherwise it would be said she abandoned them for her own selfish needs, rather than rise up and take the alpha hood from Razor she fled in the night like a coward. That made for a much better story, more believable. “Ran like a coward with your tail between your legs. Makes sense I suppose, not alpha material it would seem.” Seeing how she had to find another pack to submit to. “And to hear you dirty your bloodline with half breeds.”
“Oh I wouldn’t be so sure of that pup.” She coos with a grin, unfazed by the snarling of the younger wolf, all bark and no bite. “I am a mother to a handful of children, everything is to insure the world is one fit for them. I am setting things in motion so my children won’t be hunted, they are the hunters. Because only one thing is certain in this world, the weak are killed much quicker.” Kiera had seen her family hunted down by humans, she had lost a husband and a child once before.
.
“Not all of your pack would. Some want to know why reports of my death were so exaggerated.” She said, though she didn’t specify who, not looking to get anyone in trouble. “I’ve never been a coward, and I’ve never interested in being an Alpha.” She was raised by betas, after all, it wasn’t as though there was a parent spurring her on to lead the pack.
Hearing Kaden be called a half breed, she growled threateningly, taking a few steps forward. “My children are perfect as they are, and their father is good to them, I don’t care whether he’s a human or a werewolf. He’s a better father than your husband is, I’m sure. Unlike you, I don’t teach my children that the actions of one should affect the many. Hunters killed my parents, same time as Clarence’s, but that doesn’t mean all humans are bad or inferior.”

“Mom.” Kaden sighed out a small breath of relief he hadn’t even been aware he’d been subconsciously holding onto; wrapping his arms around the woman for several seconds before releasing. “Huh? Oh - this,” He glanced at his hand. “No, I was just an idiot and dropped my phone in the parking lot and had to dig it out from some stupidly sharp ice.” He shook his head some at the entire ordeal.
He let the woman guide him down the hall and into one of the rooms their pack had claimed. “I don’t think so… did she grab my charger or at least my headphones? I think my phone’s liable to die before the night’s over, but if I’m stuck in here I might as well have some music.” He questioned with a small pout of his face. “Where’s Dad?”
.
Flick smiled softly at the brief hug that Kaden offered her - he was getting too old for affection, so she knew to hold onto the little moments while she still could. Once they were in the room they’d be staying in, she leant in and kissed his head, closing her eyes. She knew he didn’t like being babied, but right now it was just the two of them in the room.
“Mmhmm... Two of the first things I made sure she packed for you. They were on your bed so don’t worry, she didn’t go digging through your stuff.” She murmured, taking a step back. “Your dad got called away first thing this morning, he said he’d be back before the snow got really bad, but it fell so heavily, he’s had to stay at a motel outside of town until they open the roads again.” She explained, sighing. Though with the Blood Moon pack in the hotel, she’d rather he was away - if her kids could be as well, that would’ve been even better.
“Do you need anything else? There’s warm blankets coming from the laundry, and food packages are being handed around soon. Some of the Blood Moon pack have taken shelter here as well, so just... keep an eye out?” She knew he wasn’t close to the pack, but in that moment she wished he was. “If you need to go too far, let me know and I’ll go with you, or Alex or Betsa can. And I’m not babying you, none of us should be on our own right now.”
“Betas are meant to follow, they are the extension of their alpha. We hunt together, are one under the moon together, I find coddling wolves leads to their deaths. I am more of an alpha that yours can ever be because she will lead you all to a war you can’t help but fail.” If anything Kiera could offer to challenge the woman herself but where would the fun in that be? She was more than twice their alphas age.
Kiera laughs shaking her head, “Unlike my husband, I don’t require an audience. He still has that puppy nature within himself, needing to play with his prey, I find it endearing time to time. In fact I am more than certain if I brought your heart to him we could fry it up for a nice Valentines meal and be done with it.” She answers with a grin on her face, “The tale of your death would only make for spectacular pillow talk.” She gives a shudder just thinking of it. “Oh darling, that’s not something that will ever be in question. I don’t wish you dead for the mere fact of some dalliance with Razor, its a mere matter of rules being rules. You turned your back on your pack, the price of that is your life, as little as that might be worth anything.”
.
“I turned my back on a murderer, not my pack. If I could’ve saved others from being bullied by Razor, I would’ve done, but I had to put myself first, and I’m not going to apologise for that.” She said, narrowing her eyes. It was a half truth. The truth was she could’ve lived with the old ways, could still kill without hesitation if it was necessary, but her daughter’s safety depended on a pack where she wouldn’t be pitted against others, where she could be coddled, even if Kiera thought that was a bad thing. She adapted because that was what a mother did.
“You won’t be serving my heart to him, or anyone else. I’ll kill either of you before you come near me or my family.” She snarled, narrowing her eyes. “You’re a mother too - I’ve seen your son. Nice kid, despite the obvious. Surely you can understand doing whatever you can to protect your child.”
