friendly reminder for fic writers that using a character's ethnic/racial identity as an epithet is lowkey a form of othering.

interestingly you never see a white character referred to as "the white man", but with poc it's...

"the black man"

"the native man"

"the indigenous man"

yeah no, you're basically insinuating that white is the default.

(honestly just don't use epithets at all. names are fine. repeating names is fine.)
