It was the name that brought her here, hopeful that it might perhaps lead her to the man himself-- yet despite how bountiful Dionysus' Chalice seemed, with food and splendor galore, there was no sign of the God in sight. Perhaps Melinoë had been naive in her thinking, assuming it would be that easy to find him waiting for her, just as she had on her nights on Mount Olympus.. but she was still so disoriented, so afraid of her current circumstances. Tossed out of The Crossroads, into a world where she had zero connections; no Gods or chthonic beings to call upon for aid, left virtually powerless with only a wooden stick at her disposal.
Her task was almost complete, and yet.. she had no way of finally achieving it. In some way, she had failed, even if she couldn't fully understand how; though certainly, dwelling on it would get her nowhere. She needed to carry on, to find a way to leave this place; disappointment filling her eyes as she turned to make her way out of the bar..
.. until a familiar voice reached her ears, causing the princess to pause in her steps. It was one she had only gotten to know recently, though far too important for her to ever forget-- turning her head over her shoulder just in time to catch a brilliant smile upon her brother's features.
Her heart all but stopped, ice filling her veins as she watched him, just for a moment. No longer a reflection in the mirror's past, but of flesh and blood; laughing with a group of strangers he'd perhaps met there, merrily drinking as if.. all was right in the world.
And briefly, seeing him here now.. filled Melinoë with the same bright, brimming hope.
"Zagreus..?" tentatively, his name fell from her lips; her flaming feet now taking her towards him, still feeling as if she was floating within a dream. She felt the need to reach for him, but hesitated momentarily; awaiting for his gaze to meet her own. "Zagreus, is that.. truly you?"
