love is found in the small gestures, the attention to detail, thoughtfulness.

I fully believe had the Ls gotten together earlier, Emily would have handled it much better, and probably even secretly shipped them. But no, we had to deal with douchebag season 5 Emily, who I absolutely hated. Like the scenes with Emily and Luke were some of my absolute favorite parts of the revival. Awkward hugging! Emily telling Luke to take care when he left the wake! That hilarious scene where the real estate wanted them to use familial endearments and they were both “NOPE.” How Emily was firmly on Team Luke during the therapy sessions. This is the Emily + Luke relationship I wanted throughout the series, not the crap that was in season 5-6. Because at this stage in the series, I felt like Emily still wanted to understand Lorelai’s life, ala “Rory’s Dance,” and I think there were seeds for them to have this really awesome relationship that was never realized because ARGH.
