What about SARAH SEENE ?
Who are you ? Iâm Sarah SeenĂŠ, a French 27 years-old artist based in Poitiers (France), fascinated by nature, human, time and feelings. Iâm a polaroid photographer and I'm currently directing a feature documentary. My work is strongly inspired by my own life, (including selfportraits) full of poetry and dream. I color my polaroids with childhood, loneliness and feminity, in the idea of suspended time with worlds which I made by modifying the reality. When the polaroid is done, I like stressing its surrealist dimension by working again on it with double-exposure manipulation and by adding collages. I'm creating stories in dreamy like unreal universes  with images that stand in between photography and visual art.
Why you photograph ? Photography is like an impulse for me. Everyday I imagine some pictures in my head, it's a world which imposes upon me.
Which is your first photographic memory ? My first photographic memory is very clear. I was about 7 years old and I was alone in my grandmother garden, where I was most of the time. My parents gave me a disposable camera and it was the begining of my love with photography. I shot some natural things I loved like my shadow on the grass, a cat asleep under pear trees or the shining blue water of a plastic swimming pool.
What purpose does your photography serve ? I don't know if my photography work serves something but I think it's an exporation of a singular world. Some people may be sensitive to it. Personaly, I love to travel in other artist world, especially those that are intimate.
What's your camera choice ? I sometimes use 35mm cameras but my favorites are polaroid cameras, in particular the SX70. I find instant photography so magic because there's is so many possibilities of manipulation you can do.
What influences your work? My work is influences by nature, abandoned places and people. I usually use as modal persons I love. They inspire me. When I'm in a new place, I take my polaroid camera with me and some accessories in case I fall in love with a place or a little thing to photograph.
I'm also inspired my collective projects that I'm part of, like The 12.12 project, which is an international group of women polaroid photographers, World wide women, an analog women photography group or recently I'll be your mirror, the very exciting duo project I have with the incredible photographer Sarah Elise Abramson.
Who are your favourite artists ?Â
I'm mainly inspired by musicians like Bjork, Emilie Simon, Katiejane Garside (from Queen Adreena), Camille, Nosfell or Cocorosie. I'm also inspired by filmmakers like Lars von Trier (I wrote my cinema Master thesis on his work), Michel Gondry, Harmony Korine or Tomas Vinterberg. And my favourit photographers are Tim Walker, Sarah Moon and JoĂŤl-Peter Witkin.
