this hellish maze.

gemini just knew that all those simulations that she had forced herself to participate, simulations which were completely optional, by the way had prepared them all for this nightbound tournament so it was guaranteed to be one hell of a ride. for sure the collective thought that they had given the candidates enough time to catch their breath after each one, prepare their own mental state long enough before they drag them all into this again. gemini knew she was coming into this blind but not completely. then again, the collective were the ones with the dirty tricks up their sleeves.Â
it felt like you were waiting forever when your sights were completely dark, as if she was plunged into darkness with no light to guide her at all - so there was no use calling out because most likely they were all at the same place.Â
gemini could only hear the dirt that was under the bottom of her shoes as they shift from one side to another, trying to at least move her hands to get a feel for her surroundings. they were in a cell, which gemini could feel the cold metal when her fingers touched them, as well as food and water that was set on the ground to recharge. how considerate. but she wasnât hungry, standing around waiting for something to start instead because they were set up to enter a battle, gemini could feel it.
she rolled her shoulders, making sure her jumpsuit fitted her correctly before grabbing a hold of the handle, getting out of the cell with no time wasted right after the loud noise in the background. not before quenching her thirst and taking one quick bite. gemini was just always in a rush to get outta there, wherever the hell they were and the last thing she wanted was to fall into the abyss for hours. that was what it felt like or would feel like.Â
she looked at her surroundings as the candidates make their way up to what looked like thirty flights of stairs, some going with a partner while others went off alone- dammit. she could easily do this herself and she would do it herself but maybe everything was going to end faster if she had a partner to watch her back while she powers through this despite her tendency to trust herself only if it came down to her own life. everything else would just be a pain but she does see someone; spectre who was also alone at the time. it was wild to even consider it, knowing their difference in opinion and her habit to wanting to control everything but better than nothing, right?
âhey, spectre, you want to... uh, partner up as we make our way to the first floor? hm?â she walked up to him, her eyes looking up the flight of stairs with annoyance. âitâll be easier for the first part of this tournament, donât you think?â she asked, raising a brow. âwell then, come on!â gemini doesnât wait too long before walking on ahead, giving him no time to say no.
