“So…Your thing is bats.” He’s got his faceplate up, his jetbooted feet dangling over the edge of the roof he’s settled on, swinging them slightly to and fro, where the heels tap once in a while with a light metallic clank when they make content of the brick of the building, busy rummaging through the bag next to him, in search of bag fries.
(Everyone knows bag fries are the best fries.)
“And bats, you know, fly.” Why do they always give him so many napkins, does it look like he’s going to be using that many napkins in this tin can? What, are they saying it needs a run through the car wash? Is it some payback for walking through the drivethru? Rude. He holds out one exceptionally long fry excavated from the bottom of the bag like an accusing finger. “They’re the only mammals that really do. Powered flight, anyway, gliding doesn’t count. So what I’m getting at here…Why bats if you don’t…Actually fly.”
You sit next to him , legs swinging rhythmically in time with the clinks of his suit on the brick . You make no noise sitting there , just staring out into the city while Tony digs around in the bag for the last remaining escapees . You wonder where his little speech is going , listening intently while waiting for the prize at the bottom of the bag . He points it at you accusingly and your eyebrows furrow in question, still waiting for his point .
He’s got a point and you hate to admit that .
“ Raven was .. taken . ” It’s an attempt at a joke . You love Raven and taking on anything to do with the dark bird persona feels wrong after all . You were a Batgirl first and anything other than a Bat just doesn’t work for you anymore . The others branched out , they’re no longer affiliated with the old names ( just you and Tim in the end and maybe that’s why he’s secretly your favorite ) .
You’ve forgotten about the hope of bag fries trying to answer this question . “ .. Squirrel would .. be better I guess . ” You think about what that suit would look like and bust into a fit of giggles , trying to mime a tail and just losing it . No , that’s not going to happen.
