London Calling

Dani was lazily stretching out her muscles, preparing her body for the run, as she turned with a smile to the blonde. Blair was something of a kindred spirit, the elder siblings fiercely protecting their younger counterparts, and Dani respected her for that. The brunette got a whiff of the tea as Blair turned around, and Dani suddenly couldn’t wait for her run to be over so she could indulge in what passed for breakfast nowadays. She had passed up dinner last night, deciding Ryan needed to eat more than he had been recently. She could go a meal or two without eating, but not without complaint from her stomach. She had just gotten used to ignoring the petulant organ.

Blair watches as the other woman stretches and then turns back to her cup of tea. Hearing the question she nods twice before smiling. "As good as Spence can get. Pretty sure he's already up on the roof tinkering away with the solar panels he's trying to put in." Blair really didn't see the need for them - they's survived this long without the power after all. Though she has to admit the prospect of hot water was certainly enticing.

Early Riser || Dani & Blair

Between the pain in her leg, having to change the gauze ever so often and general bouts of insomnia the past few nights had been hell on Blair, and this past on had been no different. So, instead of laying on a mattress that the homeless would deem uncomfortable and feigning sleep she'd offered to take the night watch for most of it. She couldn't move around as well as she would like so why not put herself to the work that she would be able to do? She dreaded it though, being stuck in this place while the wound in her leg healed. Hearing foot steps behind her she turns enough to see he person. A smile pulls at her lips when she sees the older Miller coming. Dani was one of the only people here that she could stand, they'd yet to have an argument and for Blair that was almost a miracle. She had a way of rubbing people the wrong way. Not that she cared she was only here because it was the safest place to be for her and her bother. That was something else she figured made her like Dani so much. They were both protecting the only family that they had left. She didn't know about the other woman, but when it came down to it, she'd choose Spencer of anyone else, even herself.

Kat was used to surprising people, she didn’t say much and she was quiet on her feet. She understood Blair’s words but she didn’t make a move until adjusting her weapon, moving to help she put the barricade in place before turning back to her, “Let me help you out, I can get the bullet out easy enough but I’m more worried about the possibility of you bleeding out if you don’t stop moving so much.”

Blair stares at her for a moment and is about to roll her eyes and move the barricade herself, but the woman moves in and helps her. Honestly she didn't know if she could have moved it herself. The pain she was feeling only maginfyed by the second and she knew that if she didn't get that thing out now then complications could arise. This is only reason she nods at the offer of help. Letting go of her pride for the time beaing. “The belt it tight enough to stop most of the blood for now.” she explains while trying to walk again. “Shit.” a feeling akin to something cutting into her skin rips through her calf and she falls, dropping to the knee of the other leg.  

What concern Carl had for this woman faded once the questions started - why was she out here, why was she alone?  He may have been young and rash at times, but he was smart enough to know how idiotic such a thing was.  

Blair rolls her eyes at the kid. She didn't take shit off the adults in her life, there was no way in hell that she was going to let this kid act like that. She walks towards him. “Yeah cause getting eaten to death is the best form of sucide, you dumb little shit.” The one of voice that she took on almost made her chuckle. It was one reserved for her little brother but it had been a long while since she'd had t use it on him.

Kat heard the sounds of someone entering the barricade, she didn’t pay too much attention to it until she heard a hiss of pain. Instantly becoming on alert she picked up her crossbow, loading it before moving towards the entrance. “What happened?” her mind instantly went to the worst outcome, being bitten. But her eyes darted to the ground, seeing her in pain she had to do something, “Come on I won’t shoot, If you tell me what happened I might be able to help you with whatever injury you have.”

Blair hears the question though she hadn't heard anyone coming towards her. She cursed mentally for not having payed attention. She looks up at Kat, one of the newest of the group and she pushes her self up, stumbling on her feet. "I'd have put a bullet in my own head had I'd been bitten." She says before taking hold of the barricade again. "Help me get this in place. The bullet in my leg is making it a little hard. Apparently someone out there can't shoot, or thought it would be funny to leave someone with a bullet wound,"

"Well, it’s certainly not my charming and overly sweet personality." She took a sip of her water, but Melody really was a sweetheart behind the stubborn and bossy. It’s what kept her alive and others alive and fed. "Either you got the muscle and he got the brains, or your mother has some serious explaining to do." She had to admit, though, she could see the resemblance. "I never said I wasn’t - just that you were.” Melody shrugged. “Please, even in the dead world, pre school jail bait doesn’t do it for me. I said one he grew into his brain, he’d be attractive. And that that must run in the family. Take that as you will.”

"You're right about that." She chuckles, the bite to her tone having left by now. "I used to have some brains, too many knocks to the head I think." she chuckles and studies her for a moment. "I'm just going to go with you think I am attractive." She smirks and shakes her head. 

"I grow things successfully. Which is something I did have to learn. No. No, the reason I’m useful is because I have extensive cooking knowledge and am good with a bow.” A raised eyebrow arched and she smiled, noting the look on Blair’s face as she spoke of him. “Little Boy Genius is related to you? I bet he hasn’t even kissed a girl yet and you’re kinda..irritating.” The insult didn’t really have bite to it, as it wasn’t meant to. “He’ll be attractive when he’s older. Guess that much runs in the family. Unfortunately, kid is practically out of pre school. Translation? Jail bait. But he’s practically Einstein, I’ll give him that.”

"See those are good reasons to keep you around." She rolls her eyes and closes the book, setting it aside figuring she might not get anymore reading done just then. "Yes, genius boy is related to me." She smiles a little. "Not sure how, we turned out so different but here we are." She sighs. "I wouldn't know." She huffs. "Like you're not irritating." A confused look comes over her face. "I'm not sure if you just called me attractive, or insinuated that you'd like him if her weren't jail bait." 

"Don’t. It was getting on my nerves, as well. otherwise, I wouldn’t of said a word." She shrugged - though it wasn’t entirely true. Melody was still a sweetheart underneath all that bossy and stubborn. “Probably. They only listen to me because I control their food. I’m sure most only put up with me, but I’m okay with that.” And honestly, Melody couldn’t care less if someone liked her or not. In the real world, she was popular and amazing in her classes. She leaned back in her chair, sizing the other woman up. “My advice? Become useful to that scrawny nerd kid. Little Boy Genius thinks he can install solar panels to give us some electricity.” She shrugged, half hopeful, half doubtful. “Kid’s more useful than I am. If he can find use for you, the other should get off your back. They’re less likely to piss of the Brains than they are the Muscle. Muscle can be replaced. Genius? Not so much.”

"Of course you wouldn't of." she looks back down to the book in her hands, but doesn't bother trying to read another word because the other woman is talking again. "Which is silly because you're not the only one that knows how to grow things." she comments without looking up. She'd been half listening up until the point that she mentioned the scrawny nerd kid. She looks up, eyes set on Melody's as she goes on about the boy. "That scrawny kid, is my little brother." 

Melody laughed from her book as she heard a threat called out - they always amused her, and never took them overly serious, but knew the members in her group well enough to know that even though most threats were idle, she knew just nothing wouldn’t be done. She heard the whistling continue, more prominent, and usually, she would have allowed it to continue, but now it was annoying her. “Cut the crap or expect to be left out of dinner tonight.” The whistling continued for another few seconds before cutting off.

Blair casts the other woman an annoyed look as she laughs. As much as the other members could annoy her there was something about Melody that annoyed her more than anyone else. Despite that annoyance though she smiles in her direction slightly. "Thanks. Guess it's going to take me actually doing something for them to listen." She hated being the new girl, but if need be she'd make her point. 

His attempts at retaining eye contact were futile with her being swarmed by more walkers than Carl could distinguish, bloodied smears against more bloody smears that made one giant blob of bloody smears and writhing appendages. On equal footing with the walkers, Carl took aim and took suppressed shots into the brains, sending them careening to the ground only to create a roadblock for the others.

Far from the commotion and resting in relative peace on the low hanging branch of a tree, Carl watched on in silence as the girl fought her way out and took down the walkers skillfully with a blade he, while nothing in comparison to Michonnes katana, had to admire. If only for the skill of the wielder. Carl’s inner sense of ‘let’s be helpful’ overrode his sense of self preservation and common sense as he pulled his silenced pistol from its holster in the belt around his waist, and took aim at the walkers nearest to her.

Blair grunts as she kicks one walker down to the ground, watching as it causes two more to fall down as well. She uses the space to spin and stab one but just before she can bring the knife down a bullet passes through it's skull. She spins around, knowing the shot was high and from behind her from the way the bullet had went in and blew out the base of the walker's skull. Her eyes lock onto a boy - a young boy at that in the tree with.

Melody huffed. “You’ll learn to like me.” She shrugged with a smile - eventually, everyone learned to. “Or at least put up with me. Everybody does.” She’d be the first to admit that she needed the muscle around, but she also knew she was coveted by the muscle around here.

"Yeah well I'm not everyone, and I don't like you." She dead pans her response this time. Her patience with the girl growing thinner and thinner. 

"Did I say loud and obnoxious? No. One Biter close enough can hear smaller noises. Do you even have a brain in there, or are you all muscle like some of the guys in here, whose brain - apparently - is their stomach?" She rolled her eyes, but if this woman wanted to play it that way, fine. "Suit yourself, G.I Jane. You can feed yourself tonight, then, while the rest of us have a hot meal." And she was actually serious.

"Alright Princess how about you take a damn chill pill, or get the hell out of my face." She was getting beyond annoyed with this girl and if she stayed there too long than she was probably going to lose it on her. "Whatever."
