Second book in trying out leather covers; a delightful puppy play Frerard anthology-zine, which includes a foreword written by me, and a copious number of images. I enjoyed the chance engaging with a specific kink for the anthology provided me, as I always love a good theme; this is actually the second of the kink anthologies I'm doing, but i've yet finished the first, which is on vampires. Fic links below the cut, as always.
everybody burn the house right down by akaparalian (1.9, E)
Frank gets horny from post-show adrenaline, gets dropped off at a motel to deal with it, and Gerard calls him in the middle of it. nyehehe
All of Our Moves Make Up for the Silence by piercemustdie (1.7, M)
"Fucking pants," Frank growls, panting harshly against Gerard's mouth as he scrambles for seemingly any bit of purchase he can find on the remains of Gerard's costume: suspenders, buttons, snaps... "Fucking gloves. Fucking... fuck."
A fair assessment.
Synthetic Animals by MyChemicalFallOutBoyRomance (2.2, E)
Frank and Gerard have had a busy two weeks; barely enough time to speak, never mind have sex. Frank doesn't plan to waste time with words though…
Like a Dog by rpfattack (2.5k, E)
Clicker training? Does that even work on people?
scissoring, or whatever they called it in 2004 by ruuinxs (2.5k, E)
“Is this because of my playing with your hair? Or me calling you a dog?” Gerard asked. Then, he pushed lightly into the bulge through Frank’s pants, and his voice dropped. “Or both?”
OR: Gerard cuts Frank's hair. Things go a little sideways.
Dig It up and Devour by xobarriers (2.7, E)
“I want you on your knees,” Gerard whispers. “I wanna see you be a good boy for me.”
--
The real reason Gerard wrote "Sit, Stay, Beg" on their drum head.
Sit. Stay. Beg. (2.7, E)
Gerard is thinking about fostering a dog and prepares by bringing home a crate for one. Frank makes a joke one night while they’re drunk.
honey don't feed me (I will come back) by ritualisticlamb (4.7, E)
He knew it wasn't fair, and he also knew how it looked. It was only natural for his bandmates to be concerned when, mid-song, he looked like he was in the middle of being possessed, eyes gazing and transfixed on a singular focal point while he dropped his guitar.
Mainly though, he just wanted Gerard to stop wearing those fucking boots, and the day the taller man added the garter to his upper calf, Frank was a fucking goner.
Or Frank gets obsessed with Gerard's boots.
back in the cage by jehoney (6.1, E)
“come on,” poison says, softly, pushing slightly at his shoulder, “been thinking about it all day. want you to be my good boy.”
or
ghoul learns some new tricks
Give the dog a bone by autoschediastic (6.2, E)
Gerard arfs in agreement before he grins up at Frank. "Pet me, motherfucker, I'm a good dog."
will you stay down on your knees? by callunavulgari (7.9, E)
The thing is, it’s not like Gerard doesn’t know. All the guys know — they kind of had to be brought in on it after the attack, both for safety and legal reasons. They were his friends, sure, but in the early days, Frank didn’t want anyone to know. But the lawyers had all said that it was important, that if he wanted to keep his dream, keep the band, and more importantly, make sure that they wanted to keep him, that they would have to be the first he told, right after his mom and dad.
And while it’s not exactly public, their fans aren’t stupid. They’re devious little crafty fucks with no idea of personal space half the time and even though they've never been overt about it, Frank’s seen the message boards over the years. Has seen his own name pop up in fucking lycanthropy advice forums, all careful to stick to claims of speculation and suspected contagion.
But Gerard knows.
Which is why the first time that his hand curls into Frank’s hair on stage, Frank jolts and fucks up the chord he’s playing, a squeal of twangy feedback that makes him flinch almost as much as the touch itself.
Got commissioned by a friend of mine to do a figure for his fursuit, Eon; here's the finished product. There is something very fun in seeing the figure beside the life-sized fursuit, I've got to say. Video below the cut.
Another fantastic Danger Days FunPoison fic by @liberxi , You Be My Detonator, with a positively charming story that I adore; what can I say, found family fucks me up in the best way. Cover design is literally a copied exploding warning sign minus the triangular border; the centering of the exploding object mimics the sun in the DD album cover, and the flatness of the red was to mimic the flat colour of the warning sign. Originally, the explosion was going to be in yellow, but I realized I could use gold foil, in which I had a lot more fun using and think it came out much nicer than a flat yellow. The title page image is taken from a file folder on images taken from the DD music video sets. It was a tricky book to design, considering that explosions doesn't necessarily bring a more cozy, found-family feeling vibe, but overall I like the way it turned out and think it fits well, especially considering what found family we are talking about.
Video of handling below the cut, and fic description as always:
You Be My Detonator by @liberxi (E, 50k)
Party Poison would never turn down another killjoy in need; even if said killjoy is the most annoying little shit in the Zones.
Meanwhile Fun Ghoul is only looking for a crew to hide out with for a couple of days. But he ends up finding a lot more than that - a family.
---
New and exclusive: The not-remotely-canon-related story of how Fun Ghoul joined the Fabulous Killjoys!
Nothing dramatic happens in this at all. It's literally just queer people in the desert being incredibly annoying and loving each other very much. If that's your thing.

The second (and positively delightful) fic by @theopteryx that I've finished binding, as well as the first book I've done with leather! With the Indiana Jones-esque story, I really wanted to do a book bound in brown leather... and so I finally caved in purchasing a bunch of leather and some leather working tools and paint for leather bookbinding. I also in classic fashion of remaining true to the images I've cooked up deliriously in my brain decided I wanted to have a stone set in the center (also cardinal to the story) to further complicate matters (as well as doing cordage on the spine). I also rummaged through an old box of semi precious stones from my childhood, and to my delight found one that would work, although it certainly was not flat on one side; which is why I set it within a raised platform after also trimming part of the way through the cover bookboard as well, but I quite like the little elevated platform it is now on. Overall, I really enjoyed the process and am quite pleased on how it turned out, and am excited to continue to do leather bookbinding. As it was my first time working with leather, I've certainly learned a few tricks in which I'll apply to later books, as occurs whenever learning a new medium.
Can Never Wrong This Right (23.5k, E)
Written for the hc_bingo challenge, for the square of 'forced soul-bonding.'
It's 1949 and Dr. Way is a professor of Archeology and Frank is his constantly exasperated (and secretly pining) assistant. When their latest trek takes them to South America to locate the fabled Blood Stone, however, they both find more than they bargained for.
Extremely excited to have finished this bind for the incredible funpoison/frerard Danger Days fic Don't Need The System by @liberxi . Seriously during the process I kept getting distracted and rereading parts of the fic, it just sucks you back in...
I had a lot of fun designing the book; the cover inspired from the promotional posters of the spray painted spider over the BL/ind, which have a white, black and pink colour combo to represent the BL/ind (black and white) and pink (colour!) as a breaking away from the system to become Killjoys; something certainly applicable as the whole fic is on leaving the system. For the title I used a font very similar to the actual killjoys font (the true font you have to pay to use) while I also the secondary fonts where the BL/ind font throughout the book. I also thought it would be fun to switch out the chapter heading designs as the story progresses, and in the end choose a strawberry endpaper, also thematic to the fic.
Video of me handling the book and fic description below;
Don't Need The System by @liberxi (E, 145k)
Captured by BL/ind and forced to reintegrate into a system built on lies, Fun Ghoul has to navigate his new life in Battery City. If he wants to survive, he knows that he can't trust anyone, and that he definitely can't fall for a pretty smile - especially not when it belongs to a Scarecrow.

Finished binding a positively delightful, smutty and devastating fic Praeteritum Memorias by smoace_shipper; it's been one on my list to bind for a while, and well pleased to have finally gotten around to it. The cover paper I actually had bought a few years ago, it was a matching pair of one white and one red swirls, and in seeing them immediately knew I wanted to use it for a smoker/ace fanfic; I actually cut with an x-acto knife the separate papers to form the interlocking of the fire/smoke, which can be seen below, with the fic information
Praeteritum Memorias by Smoace-shipper (E, 43k)
Ace never had an island on the grand line that he so vehemently hated. It almost reached the levels of hatred that he held for Loguetown when he held up a child that looked too much like his lover. Everything down to the hair, the scowl, the eyes, hell even the name matched. He understood the Grand Line was a crazy place but this was easily top 5 of creepy island.
Now his question was how the hell was he going to get his Smoker back if he was stuck with this shrimp that barely reached up to his hips? Would he even get to see Smoker again?
Trying out new bookbinding cover design methods (spray paint!!! How fun!!!) for the fic Don't Need The System by @liberxi . Sometimes u want a spray paint look and the best way to achieve it, is, well, via spray paint.

Book two of the Gerard Way's Vampire Detective Agency by jjtaylor (prev book here), The Detective's Secret and the Mystery of the Dancing Flowers! I dropped having a more similar cover for the sequel to the first for an antique cover design (Verzamelde Opstellen, erste bundel, by Lvan Deyssel) that I absolutely fell in love with and fit the sequel quite well (if we wanna split hairs, the Hounds of Baskerville by sherlock in the same first edition collection has a widely different cover). In fact I kinda went bonkers for using oak leaf designs throughout the book in entirety, but what can I say I love a theme. I know the dancing flowers are a viscaria but like... So many good oak leaf designs for the green man out there...
The photos of the book that I could find online only included the front cover, so had to mock up my own spine (it has designs on the spine, you just can't see em) and played around with the design for the back to get them in a way I liked. Spent most of the time while painting the covers binging my way through the white vault, which I do highly recommend btw. All in all very pleased with the result; nothing like such a fun repeating design like this, and I also got to trot out again my newly learned double core endbands, which I did this time with five different colours (we getting fancy!)
