Lmao to say someone is not using street hawking as a gimmick because they are “working class” in Nigeria is a load of nonsense. To try and use the idea of “working class” in Nigeria where our class disparity is so wide, there is barely an existing position of “working class” is a reach… However that is not even the point. The point is the street hawkers in Nigeria are impoverished, they are also mainly children and it is one of the biggest modes of child labour in Nigeria. Many kids die from road accidents, and abuse from being on the streets all day to barely make $1. Not to even mention these are kids that rarely ever receive education or are allowed to go to school. So no, let’s not pretend that they are working class. Let’s not pretend that these are not people with some of the least human rights in Nigeria. And most importantly, let’s not pretend that using street hawking as a runway gimmick is representative of a false working class reality in Nigeria.
