Black Sails Kink Meme

Hey everyone! It’s been a while. I hope you’re all holding up ok with all of the things that are going on in the world right now. 

In a couple of weeks, on the 13th/14th June, @tobysnews over on twitter are running a #BlackSailsPride weekend and we’d love to join in with a little input from you.

We want to hear from you guys about the ways in which Black Sails has had an impact on your journey with your own sexuality or identity. Whether it’s a character arc that resonated with you, a scene that captured an experience you’ve had, or any other aspect of the show that taught you something about yourself, we want to hear about the ways this story matters to you as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. 

Black Sails has been so profoundly influential and healing for a lot of us and this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate that. You can write something as short as a tweet or as long as an email and we’ll share them over the pride weekend.

We have 7 writers signed up, which is great! But there are still 25 general (depending on your ship of choice) and 23 specific prompts up for grabs!

For the prompt list, please go to the link you’ll find on the google form (or access the page from the top menu of my tumblr page). The list will be frequently updated to reflect which prompts are available.

Here it is! The list of 50 prompts to inspire confined fic writers to write about confined characters. Here’s how I broke them down:

The General (G1 - G25) prompts only contain ideas for settings and sometimes simple plot ideas. They can be used for any ship or character. Please fill these prompts as closely to the general idea/mood as possible.

The Specific (S1 - S25) prompts tend to be more detailed and contain a ship request. If you choose a specific prompt, please write the ship/main characters requested in these prompts, whose names you have been bolded for your convenience.

Tomorrow I’ll be posting a form to let authors claim prompts. Prompts can be claimed anytime during the challenge but prompts are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis (this list will be updated to reflect which prompts are currently claimed). Specific prompts can only be claimed once. General prompts may be claimed several times AS LONG AS the writers are working on different characters/ships (they will be asked who they plan on writing in the submission form). There is no deadline or minimum length, but authors must make some progress within one month of claiming the prompt (ie, at least an outline and a few paragraphs). Prompts for which the author has gone radio-silent or made absolutely no progress in one month will be put back up for grabs. Authors can fill as many prompts as they like, on the condition that they claim one prompt at a time and finish each prompt before starting working on another.

Please message me your preferences. The closing date to enter is November 25th and we’ll share gifts between 20th and 31st of December (I want to give it some flexibility because I know everyone is busy around then). 

Once the closing date has passed I’ll message you with who you’ll be gifting, and you are then free to contact them on anon (or via me) to confirm details (i.e. maturity levels, their fave tropes, etc.)

here’s more of this fic many, may months later. Now ft a play party and intense sexual tension 

It’s sometime close to or after midnight. Flint’s not sure, his phone’s been away for hours. He’s on a couch, Thomas straddling one thigh, and Miranda half draped over the other. They’ve been on and off meeting and getting to know some other people throughout the night. One eye always out for each other as they do. But after a couple hours or so they’ve made their way back to each other. Thomas’ lips are on his throat. Flint has Miranda’s tongue in his mouth, circling his. The two of them laugh into each others mouths and she bites at his lips as she pulls away.

Welcome to the Second Silverflint Drabble of the Week!

We’re coming off the long-fic Big Bang challenge and flipping a 180 for you. Drabbles are a great way to challenge seasoned writers, and to encourage new writers who may have shied away before, thus leading to more content for all of us to enjoy (yes, we are very sneaky).

Rules

Every Monday starting the second week of September we will post new three word prompts. Drabbles must be exactly 100 words according to Google Docs.  (But if you think I’m gonna actually check?  Boy, you are wrong, friends!  You’re on your pirate words of honor here, for what it’s worth.)

Drabbles must include the three prompt words in some capacity. They do not need to be exact. For example, the word PARTNER could be used as partners, partnership, partnering. The word THIEF could be thieves, thievery, theft.  

This goes without saying, but these Drabbles better be about Silverflint in some capacity. All genres and all ratings are welcome!

If you’d like to team up with an artist (or are yourself a bicapable/pancapable individual) to spice things up: feel free!  Similarly, if you’re an artist and you feel inspired by any of the content: feel free to create fanart based on it!

Let’s be honest - we all forget to leave a comment sometimes. We don’t always go out of our way to click the “come talk to me on tumblr” link on AO3 to scream about the fic in the author’s inbox. On August 21st I encourage you to take a moment and show fanfic writers that you appreciate them!

How can you do it?

leave a comment and kudos on every fic you finish reading. Doesn’t matter how short. Doesn’t matter if you’re just repeating what other people have already said. Just be kind! Keysmashing, Caps Lock, and live commenting appreciated! (Bonus points if you leave a comment on every chapter)

ideas for what to put in a comment: one | two

floaty review box for ao3 (super useful for commenting as you read + it has a ‘review tips’ button if you feel stuck)

reblog ficlets, drabbles, fics, fic rec posts, etc. Put a nice comment in the tags. Remember that likes, while appreciated, don’t give the writer any exposure, meaning the posts don’t reach more people

go to your local fanfic writer’s inbox and talk to them about their fic of your choice. Let them know how long ago you’ve read it and what story point/sentence/scene still makes you smile when you think about it

send thank you messages to fic writers. In a world where you have to pay for almost everything, they’re supplying you with countless hours of free entertainment. It can get quite lonely without getting messages acknowledging the hours they spend writing stories - let them know their time and effort is appreciated

make fic rec posts and @ the authors whose fics you’re recommending! (believe me, fic writers love to see their stories in these posts)

create something inspired by a fic! You can draw fanart, make a moodboard or aesthetic post, or even write a song for the fic you love. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro doesn’t matter - the thought alone is what counts more than anything <3

buy the writer a coffee if they have a ko-fi page and you have some change lying around c: Caffeine keeps most fic writers awake when they struggle with a particularly slow draft or a difficult scene. More coffee, more content.
