Idiots who say they just couldn't have known or who try to excuse their crappy taste by appeals to youth or ignorance have no foundation: You needed a low IQ to love her shit then and you still do.

I never will understand how young children especially proved themselves so susceptible to her mean-spirited amateurish scribblings but I think it has much more to do with their socialization- and they should acknowledge it. Their parents spoon-fed them a morally reductive Stepford world of conformity and their educators encoded it and they fell for it because they were too morally and intellectually weak.

Admit it now or stay infantilized forever. You should've known.

Bad people do make bad art because that's all they can. Good art takes imagination, empathy, curiosity, and understanding- all qualities bad people lack.

Rowling, Gaiman, they're no different than Thomas Kinkade or James Patterson: Slop-pushers who willfully belittle their audience's intelligence and integrity and emotional range and are rewarded for it.

The converse is not necessarily true- good people can make phenomenally shitty art. They do every day. They're just not very good artists now; they have the capacity for growth in their goodness, however. But moral and intellectual infirmity are necessarily limiting to a bad person's capacity ever to make anything better.
