Gladiolus flowers come in a rainbow of hues, so it was not easy deciding what colors to represent for Uranus. In the end I chose red and purple as the primary colors, as they represent passion & deep feeling, and reverence & mystery, respectively. For the secondary colors I chose white and pink, for sincerity and admiration, respectively. And while Uranus can be a bit prickly and hard to make friends with (just ask Seiya lol 😂), once she gets to know and trust you, she is a trusted ally who always has your back. Yellow in flower symbolism often denote friendship and joy. Hence, the yellow shades can be found within the white and red flowers, to represent that hidden side of Uranus’ character.

After a lot of back and forth, the flower I ended up choosing for her is something that probably doesn’t come as a huge surprise to people: white water lilies, also known as white lotuses. Not surprisingly, water lilies have a strong affiliation with water, and in Hinduism white lotuses are associated with the goddess of music and wisdom, Saraswati, which is very fitting for Neptune. Ultimately water lilies are just too perfect of a match for Neptune, and who am I to try to mess with perfection? 😆

Been stressed out this past week so I’m trying to get back to the floriography series to distract myself. I finished sketching Neptune but it felt remiss to not also draw Uranus 😅
