Rosy McEwen, widely praised for her standout role as Verity Greene in Series 7's Bête Noire is set to reprise her role as the protagonist in a yet-to-be-titled Bête Noire prequel set for Series 8. Netflix officially announced their renewal of the long-running anthology series earlier this year along with Charlie Brooker's statement on it.

While details have been kept under wraps, sources were able to confirm that the prequel will explore the creation of the reality-shifting system dubbed the "quantum compiler", which is also expected to depict the first time Verity used her system to become Empress of the Universe. The majority of the script is reportedly focused on Verity's five-week tenure with her previous victim, Natalie Caine.

Sources were also able to comment that Siena Kelly is in talks to return as Maria Skinner for a potential flash-forward scene. While casting for the pivotal role of Natalie has reportedly concluded, any more details are kept closely guarded for now. However, Anna Torv is reportedly playing Verity's mother.
