- this website acts as a way for me to continuously repeat the bad thought patterns that i have in the past prior to getting mental help

- i would just remake and start fresh but the thought of having a new account with everyone i’ve blocked — including the person i dated for a bit in college who harassed me both online and in person (i don’t genuinely consider her an ex so i’m not gonna bother) — unblocked is really terrifying to me

- i am becoming more and more prevalent in irl wgss academic circles and i will be publishing under my chosen name and this account still has record of my birth name

- if i’m a public figure i don’t want my students or associates finding this account

- the nsfw ban really made this place more bitter it feels like

- prior to figuring out my own sexuality and after identifying as asexual (think beginning of college) i would post really disparaging and nasty things about asexuals and aspec people out of self loathing and though i am very sorry for that point in my life and i don’t feel that way anymore i don’t forgive myself for it and this blog just reminds me truly of how angry and bitter i was and how i made it everyone else’s problem

- prior to learning that i myself am non-binary i did not understand what the word cis meant and it led to me getting put on several “callout” posts meant to out me as a transphobe. i wasn’t transphobic, i was 16 and uneducated. i know No One Cares now but i do and being on this blog just reminds me of that time

- i have reblogged selfies of friends on here that we’re pre transition and i want those pics nuked

- the tumblr crowd has changed

- i’m just not happy anymore

in that time, i've learned a lot, cried a lot, fucked up OFTEN, and changed a lot. therapy also works WONDERS for queers who grew up groomed by the internet. for the reasons above and several others that i'm not comfortable sharing, i'm deactivating my main tumblr, but blackgirlclassicist will continue :D i found a way to save it.

i'm hoping to go to law school soon (!!!) now that i have my master's degree, so don't be surprised if you see me posting here now and again about using latin in the legal realm! the mod of this blog is now @blackgirlclassicistmod. no need to follow or anything, just wanted to let y'all know!

isn't it wild? i made this blog as a joke back in highschool, and now nine years, two degrees, and a whole lotta life later, and i've amassed such a large following (peak 5000, but i lost around 200 since the nsfw ban, the nearly 2-3 years of inactivity, etc). i still cherish each and every one of your messages, asks, and comments just as i did back when i was 17, taking AP latin and dealing with all the things in life that 17 year olds deem life-ending. thank you all for your kindness and patience with me. from every failed youtube channel to every off-color joke/post i've made, y'all have stuck beside me, and that is so heartwarming to me. there's a lot of things i hate about tumblr, and the internet in general, but i will always have a soft spot for this community and this blog.

thanks to everyone for sticking around this long, for those of y'all who are still here. i hope we can keep the good times rolling!
