Agura’s footsteps were silent as she walked down the hallway to her room. Her face was grim, her eyes fixed and empty. She remained quiet, lost in thought, as something she had long tried to forget resurfaced. It was a memory from a time before she became the person she was now, before she was adopted by a TNI Army General who would later become the commander of Kopassus.

9 years ago, September 2002

Sentosa Orphanage, Indonesia

"Agura! Agura, where are you?!" A boy, wearing worn-out black sandals, called out. His voice was a little high-pitched but low for a young boy. His brown skin and short, straight black hair with a slight curl were clearly visible in the bright morning sun. He continued walking into the small forest behind the orphanage, repeatedly calling her name. His steps halted when he heard a faint sound from behind a nearby tree. The boy crept quietly toward it and startled a girl sitting there, eating a warm piece of boiled cassava. She turned with an annoyed look on her face.

"You startled me, Arka! I thought you were Aunt Wantri."

"Does that mean Auntie ever comes here? To the forest?"

"No."

"Then we're safe."

Arka sat down next to Agura, who was back to eating her cassava, blowing on it to cool it down. Her red eyes were intensely focused as she ate hungrily. Her long, black hair was a bit tangled with small twigs caught in it, making Arka's eyebrows furrow. "Did you take more boiled cassava from the kitchen?" Agura only glanced at him, chewing on the cassava in her hand.

"Didn't we already get some?"

"I gave mine to Nadia and her little brother, Bagas."

"And you didn't get any left?"

"I took it from the kitchen, like you said."

"You're so brave."

Agura wiped her mouth with the back of her hand before getting up and turning to him. "You have to be brave, too. Or no one will feed you." Arka just looked away, a slight sadness on his face. He got up, his eyes now looking at her. "As brave as the soldiers at the orphanage later?" Agura quickly climbed a tree and sat on a large branch, looking down at him with a frown. "What do you mean?" Arka easily followed, climbing and leaning on a branch higher than hers.

"I overheard the mean aunt and the orphanage head talking. This afternoon, some soldiers are coming to visit."

"So?"

"That's all I heard. Do you think we'll get adopted?"

"I don't think so."

"Why not?"

"Why would they be soldiers?"

"I don't know."

Agura’s eyes returned to the view from the top of the tree. At the time, she didn't think much about how humble and difficult her life was. For a girl who had lived in an orphanage for nine years, she was only concerned with survival. This was during a time when Indonesia was entering the Reform Era, and its economy was still recovering from the financial crisis that had hit a few years earlier during the New Order period led by President Suharto. The New Order had initially brought prosperity, but it backfired, leading to a severe economic downturn, high inflation, rising unemployment, and widespread corruption in government and business.

In addition, the military's involvement in government, business, and society, along with the military doctrine called the "Dual Function of the Indonesian Armed Forces" (Dwi Fungsi ABRI), which gave the military a role in both defense and politics, was one of the factors that led to the New Order being seen as authoritarian and repressive. This system made it difficult for ordinary people to engage in politics and reclaim their basic human rights.

Indonesia's government history is divided into several eras: the Old Order, the New Order, and the Reform Order. The Old Order began after independence in 1945, led by President Sukarno and his vice president, Drs. Moh. Hatta. They worked to rebuild the country from the remnants of colonialism and formulate strategies to improve the economy, social conditions, politics, security, and infrastructure, even though the nation was in a very complex state. In 1956, the first vice president resigned due to ideological differences with the President. He realized that the vice president's position had little influence over the government and was more of a symbolic role, while the Prime Minister held the real power. By stepping down, he was able to better express his ideas and contribute to the country through his own work, which gained public attention.

After years of leading the country without a vice president, Sukarno chose to step down, marking the end of the Old Order in 1966. This began the New Order, with Suharto as the second president. His administration focused on political and economic stability, as well as development and modernization. However, this era was also marked by restrictions on civil liberties and the suppression of political opposition. When the Reform Order began, gradual changes in government were seen, with a renewed emphasis on human rights, civil liberties, and a more democratic government structure.

Six months later, June 12, 2009

Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Indonesia

"General Kato sent me to pick you up," a tall, large man in a sharp suit and white gloves said, standing by a luxurious Mercedes-Benz. His voice was flat and deep. He was addressing a young woman who had just exited the airport, carrying a large tote bag and wearing a black hoodie, jeans, and a black hat. Her red eyes stared blankly at the driver.

"I need to go to headquarters first—"

"The general has ordered you to take a leave of absence. You can give your report directly at his home."

The girl was silent for a moment before nodding and getting into the car. She knew this driver wasn't one to waste time with excuses, especially when a direct order came from his boss. As they drove, she watched the city view pass by, a sight she hadn't seen in a long time. She leaned her head back against the seat, while the driver remained focused on the road, occasionally glancing at her through the rearview mirror.

"Wow~ So this is the car he usually uses? It's amazing. Looks really expensive, and the seats aren't ordinary car seats either."

The driver was a little surprised by her sudden comment. He remained silent, unaware that she had noticed something off when she glanced at the top corner of the car.

"Isn't that right, Father? I don't know when tapping into other people's conversations became your habit. But something about my last mission felt strange, and I'm personally curious about it. For our big reunion, I want some homemade food that I haven't tasted in a long time. For months in Sakhtah, I lived on nothing but movement and shooting. Tonight, let's just eat together, no long speeches."

Night fell on a luxurious mansion in the capital. A grand fountain with lights created a beautiful display outside. Inside the spacious dining room, a man sat at a large table filled with delicious food, his back to a window covered by curtains. The large, muscular, middle-aged man with a square face wore a pinstripe blue suit and a long scarf. His small eyes glanced at the clock, which read 8 PM. He smiled widely as the girl entered the room in the same clothes. "It's been a while, my child. Have a seat."

The girl looked at a chair before moving toward a female butler standing a step behind the man. She took off her black hat, sat down, and poured herself a glass of water. The man, still smiling, picked up his fork and knife.

"No time to change clothes?"

"I was too hungry to bother."

"Those clothes are very suspicious."

"I don't want to hear that from you, Father. Especially with your new habits."

"I'm just making sure. I was a bit confused by your decision to ask to be sent to Sakhtah."

"Because of that... can you put that away?" The general looked at her as he put a piece of meat in his mouth. She was still holding her glass of water, having just taken a sip. "Isn't it rude to point a gun at a family member you haven't seen in a long time?" The girl put the glass down and slipped the pistol back into her hoodie. She glanced up at the ceiling before resuming her meal as her father took a sip of wine. "Was your mission related to an organization?"

"Well, something like that," the girl stopping her hand as she saw her father grinning while cutting his meat. "Also, Father... tell her to put that down. Don't just talk about family. Have you gone crazy?" The girl's voice was calm and flat as the female butler now stood directly behind her, pointing a gun at her head. The general chuckled and raised his hand, and the butler lowered her weapon. "You're getting very good, Miss Agura," the woman said with a small smile, her voice low as she put the pistol in her pocket. "Thanks for your training, Aunt Galena," the girl turning slightly and giving her a small grin before looking back at the general.

"What kind of mission did you do there?"

"...I was just looking for someone."

"Someone? Who?"

"Major Hadi Kusuma."

"Ah, now I understand why you insisted I send you there. Where did you find him?"

"An abandoned cell block in the Dammah desert."

The girl put her fork and spoon on her plate after finishing her meal, her expression turning serious as she looked down. "But that wasn't all I found." The general paused while pouring more wine, not looking at her.

"What else?"

"It's a secret."

"Galena," the general putting the wine bottle down and leaning back. "Yes, sir," the woman understood. She bowed respectfully and left the room, the sound of the door closing behind her. "Go on," Agura nodded and pulled a small brown envelope from her hoodie. She slid it across the table to him. "The enemies I found in Sakhtah seem to have received weapons and artillery from an organization. I found a symbol on a rifle I took from one of the enemies." Agura watched her father look at photos of weapons with a symbol of a garuda bird behind a large skull. The general's expression turned serious. He finally looked back at her.

"Did you find anything else suspicious?"

"So far, that's the only symbol I found. I didn't have much time because more enemy forces arrived, and I had to prioritize the safety of the major and his men."

"I see."

"Why? Do you know about that symbol?"

"No, but I'll tell you as soon as I get information on that organization."

"Okay."

"You may go."

Agura nodded and rose from her chair, walking out. Galena re-entered the room and stood behind the general, who took a cigarette from a box, snipped the tip, and lit it. He stared straight ahead, inhaling the nicotine.

"Galena."

"Yes, sir."

"The girl... do you think she's changed a bit since the last mission?"

"Ever since you entrusted me to train her all these years, Miss Agura has seemed a little different from others her age. The way she thinks, acts, and her personality... she has started to see the bigger picture."

"Did you intentionally let her know you were standing behind her?" The general poured more wine into his glass before taking another drag from his cigarette. The woman lowered her head. "That's impossible, sir. I've been standing right here beside you since the moment she arrived. She didn't know a thing." Ludovika Galena's answer made the general grin. He had expected her to notice it too. "So it's her strong intuition, then," he chuckled softly, continuing, "She still seems the same as when I adopted her."

"The day she passed the test with the other orphanage children, sir?"

"That's right. But unfortunately... only she and one other child passed."

"What do you mean, sir?"

The general stood from his chair and walked slowly to the large window, whose curtains were now opening. The night sky revealed a full moon. He took another drag from his cigarette, staring at the sky. "That test... it wasn't just to choose a child to adopt. It was to break their will and turn them into a different kind of person, with a mentality even stronger than a soldier's." The general turned his head slightly to the woman, his gaze hardening. "But I would be lying if I said I didn't regret the cruelty of it all. Even so, there are times when a person pushes the devil inside themselves to create something that surpasses human expectations, something that can't even be imagined in a single blink of an eye."

Galena's brow furrowed. There was something strange about his words. The test he gave those children wasn't just inhuman. "What exactly was that test, sir?"

Republic of Sakhtah, an abandoned building in the Dammah desert.

It was a scorching afternoon. Several vans were parked outside a cell block, with numerous rebels armed with rifles patrolling the area. Some stood guard at every post, keeping a close watch on two Indonesian foreigners held deep within the building's corridors. The two had been taken hostage after a professor from Indonesia was caught researching natural resources for military weapons development. They thought they had permission for the research, but instead, they were ambushed by rebels.

"Professor, I'm sorry for getting you into this mess," a soldier said in a low, guilty voice. His body was covered in wounds, and his hands were tied behind his back, just like the professor's. The professor, looking exhausted with a grimy face, let out a weak sigh before speaking. "Don't say that. I'm the one who feels bad. You're in this state because you tried to save me." The professor's words made the soldier lower his head, filled with guilt and anger. He was frustrated, thinking that if he hadn't trusted the traitors, he could have completed the mission and brought the professor home safely. Instead, they were defeated by rebels who were far stronger than a regular army, outnumbering them three to one. These weren't ordinary rebels. They had clearly been trained by another organization that knew their every move. It felt like they had been led into a trap all along.

Minutes later, the sound of a key turning in a lock echoed down the hallway. The door opened, and a figure was shoved inside, collapsing to the floor with injuries similar to his own. "Sergeant Mahmud!" He was shocked to see one of his men battered and bruised. "You bastard!" He tried to stand, but the rebel stared at him menacingly, muttering something in Arabic. The next thing he knew, he was hit hard on the head with the rifle butt before the rebel turned, a smirk on his face, and locked the door.

"Major, are you okay?" The sergeant crawled closer to him as he struggled to get up.

"I'm fine. What about the others?"

"I don't know, sir. It looks like they were taken somewhere else..."

A brief silence followed before the door unlocked again. The rebel reappeared, but his expression was stiff and unusual. "What now?" The major was taken aback when the rebel suddenly fell to the ground, unconscious. Standing behind him was a mysterious figure in a combat suit, a bulletproof vest, and gloves. A turban covered their head, leaving only a pair of dark red, unnatural-looking eyes visible. They stared at the major, who was still frozen in place.

"Are you Major Hadi Kusuma?" The question came out in a slightly broken Indonesian, making the major's eyebrows furrow.

"Who are you?"

"I've come to save you. Everyone, follow me."

As they ran down the cell corridor, the major was stunned by the sight. Dead rebels lay sprawled everywhere. Even more shockingly, he hadn't heard a single sound from inside the cell. He kept up with the mysterious figure, who moved with incredible speed.

"Who sent you? How many people are on this mission?" He asked, running alongside them. The figure's eyes remained fixed ahead.

"I can't reveal my organization. As for the mission, I'm the only one here," they replied. The major was skeptical. One person sent to this location, taking out all those rebels without a sound? He found it hard to believe until they rounded a corner and spotted two more rebels coming out of a room. The first rebel was startled and reached for his rifle. The major thought it would be impossible to take them down silently, but the figure sprinted forward, swatted the rifle away, and knocked the rebel out with a single punch to the head. The second rebel was about to shoot, but they were too slow. The figure drew a knife and threw it, hitting the rebel directly in the heart, killing him instantly. The major and his men watched in stunned silence. The figure then pulled out a Glock 19 with a silencer.

"We need to move faster. I'll handle the enemies. Don't fire unless it's an emergency," the figure said, their voice flat and low as they racked the pistol slide and started moving again. "O-Okay..." The major could only follow, realizing the figure saw them as nothing more than a hindrance.

They soon reached the main hallway. The major and his men stayed behind the figure, who had already taken down several enemies. From a distance, he heard voices from behind a wall. He was about to help, even without the element of surprise, but the figure ran recklessly toward the wall. The major was shocked. He was about to fire, but the figure just kept running, turned the corner, and fired a single shot into each enemy, dropping them instantly. They reloaded the pistol on the move, leaving a trail of bodies behind. The major realized this person's movements were far from ordinary. They were a true monster.

"Wait here for one minute," the figure said, holding up a fist after peering around the corner of the building. "Why are we waiting—" The major's question was cut short when he saw the figure's red eyes look back. He turned to see Sergeant Mahmud and the professor struggling to breathe, having just emerged from a back door, trying to keep up with their pace. The major felt a pang of guilt, realizing he had been so focused on escaping that he forgot to check on his men's condition. He glanced at the mysterious figure, who was intently observing their surroundings. Those unusual red eyes and the stiff Indonesian accent. Was this person an Indonesian special forces soldier, maybe from Kopassus? He couldn't see any insignia on their gear.

"Are you Indonesian?" The major asked, expecting a reaction. The figure seemed a little surprised. "Time to move," they said instead, heading toward a field not far from the forest.

They soon reached the rendezvous point where the major's team was waiting in a van. He was relieved to see his kidnapped soldiers safe, thanks to the figure.

"What happened to you?"

"That person saved us. They told us to wait here. Turns out they came back with the major."

The figure stood a short distance away as the major turned to them.

"My task is finished. If you keep going south, you'll meet the people who are waiting for you."

"Thank you."

"No need. I was just doing my mission."

The major gave a small, appreciative nod and held out his hand to shake theirs. The figure looked at his hand, then back at him.

"Even if it's just a mission, I want to thank you. Whatever the reason, you saved me and my men."

The figure looked at the major's outstretched hand. Just as they were about to shake, a loud, deep gunshot echoed from a distance. A projectile whizzed through the air, the sound growing louder and louder as it headed their way. A sudden warning shout came from the figure's mouth.

"EVERYONE, GET DOWN!!!"

KABOOM!!!

A deafening mortar explosion rang out. The major survived, but the powerful sound wave temporarily damaged his eardrums, leaving a high-pitched ringing. Blood trickling from his head and ears, he struggled to his feet. He saw the professor and the others were safe behind him. He turned back to see a few remaining rebels shooting at them. But suddenly, shots came from the opposite direction, taking down one of the rebels. The major's face went pale. The figure was fighting them alone, firing their rifle without a single misstep from behind a bush. But what made the major's blood run cold was seeing the figure's turban fall off as they fought. The person who had saved them was the very same person who was fighting now. The person who had saved them was a young girl.

"Please! Discharge me!!", a desperate cry echoed clearly in the room now filled with soldiers aiming their rifles at the rampaging soldier, waiting for the order to fire from the captain standing forward. The captain hurriedly tried to calm the soldier down.

"H-hey, Lieutenant Agura! Stop what you're doing at once! If you go any further, the situation will only get worse! Hey!!!", but the soldier didn't flinch, even with one hand holding a knife to the throat of Major General Subroto Panca, the commander of Kopassus special forces. Subroto stood frozen, his fingers gripping the soldier's arm tightly, but unable to stop his legs from trembling slightly as the soldier's other hand held a pistol pointed at his head as a second threat. He tried to rewind and think about how this soldier had ended up in this special military base with extreme training, and how he had gotten into this situation where his life was threatened by a female lieutenant who was even slightly smaller than him.

"If you understand what I'm saying, then all the reasons to let me go! Discharge me!!", the lieutenant's grip on the pistol tightened as she spoke.

"N-now, let's calm down, okay?! Stand down, lieutenant!", the major struggled to keep his voice steady, his eyes fixed on the pistol aimed at his head. It was impossible to act recklessly with the lieutenant's threat looming large.

"Didn't you just meet the SAS soldier once?! How do you know it's your cousin?!", but the lieutenant remained silent, her lips sealed, until the captain spoke up.

"Let's stay calm first and.. Huh?!"

BANG!!!

A sudden gunshot cut through the air, silencing everyone in the room. The sound was deafening, and even the major, who had already wet his pants, was stunned, his dignity as a leader shattered.

"Aaakkkhhh!!! J-just discharge her! She's a freaking mad girl!! A complete lunatic!! She'll kill us all seriously!!"

"I-It's impossible, sir. You know we can't discharge her! Our uniforms must remain a secret to the world!", the captain glared at the major, his face sweating. "Can we be sure that she won't cause trouble once she's outside?"

'No! Never! It mustn't happen! Her existence itself compromises foreign affairs.'
