Summary:
Niran was sleeping soundly on the floor just past the yellow tape, the exhaustion of the day having knocked him out. But every time Pete closed his eyes, he could feel it– the Six-Eared Macaque eagerly waiting for him to slip. One wrong move, one moment of weakness, one instance of letting down his guard, and he was ready to pounce on any chance he got. And Pete was fighting– or at least trying to. He remembered what Niran had said, about every emotion being a passing wind. He took a deliberately slow breath and let himself feel it. Feel it and let it go, he told himself. But this didn’t feel like a wind. It felt like a storm that he was trying to barricade with nothing but pure willpower.

Pete is struggling with controlling the demon inside him, and Niran finds a way to help.
Alright, new wish that won't come true... the show ends with them banishing and sealing both demons. Everyone returns to their lives and bodies but Pete is deaf... and the last like five minutes of the show, after the celebration and likely mourning... it's just Pete and Niran in their room and they're learning sign language together. Laughing and communicating and free together despite everything... or because of everything. And the soul bond dances between their wrists as they speak with their hands.

When two souls are bound, half of a person’s spiritual energy will flow into the other. Niran’s spiritual energy is suppressing the demon that nearly devoured you, and it will protect you from now on. Is that a good thing? I guess it is. It’s just not something people do. Because you and Niran will have to share the same fate from here on out. Be that good or bad, the two of you can no longer be separated from each other till death do you part.
