this is one of the turning points in the book. setting aside the probably overdramatisation of the situation, I think itβs one of the first times that kersten stops seeing himmler merely as a patient to be cured, and starts seeing him as an opportunity.
although I don't really blame him for what he did (after all, kersten saved thousands of lives thanks to it) that doesn't change the fact that he took advantage of someone who was physically and emotionally vulnerable and in need of his help :(((
