Whatâs happening with our mexican feminists in the last few days?
âWe neither forgive or forgetâ
As you may (or not) know, Mexico is one of the many Latin American countries with the worst cases of femicides, gender violence, rapes, and sexual harassment. For many years weâve been shouting out in the streets, weâve blocked the city with our manifestation and even stopped for a whole day and show how would be a day without us.Â
But that seems not enough for our government
Our government doesnât hear us, our government doesnât care about us. We still walk with fear in an empty street (even if itâs noon), we still have nightmares with the struggle of couldnât make it one day: survive. We donât live in Mexico, we survive.
âNobody ask what my rapist was wearingâ
In Mexico, 11 women are murdered everyday and nobody does anything in the name of justice
Whatâs happening with our mexican feminists in the last few days?
Our event takes place in Mexico City, September 02: Relatives of missing people âtookâ a room in one of the most important buildings when it comes to human rights: the CNDH (National Commission for Human Rights). Marcela AlemĂĄn, whose daughter was raped 3 years ago, explain that this organization (and the Justice System of San Luis PotosĂ, Mexico) havenât do anything for them; despite having enough evidence to catch the rapists:
âIâm fucking tired, they revictimize me, humiliate me [âŚ] I canât take it anymore, my soul hurtsâ
September, 04: In a pacific way, women from âNi Una Menos MĂŠxicoâ have taken the entirely building, so the authorities can solve the demands from this and many families who are in the same position. They had a talk with the president of the CNDH, and some mothers decided to go, but our feminists remains in the building asking and fighting for every women in Mexico that have suffered.
âJusticeâ
Our feminists have found a lot of food inside, food that people who works there doesnât need, so theyâre gonna donate them for those in need. They have painted and destroy everything as an act of resistance and rebellion. Weâre not looking for money, nobody here belongs to the government: We just want justice for those who are not with us anymore, we want to feel safe in the country that has denied us protection.
âGirls must not be rapedâ
âCNDH USELESS, How many more?â
Many of you may think that âthis is not the way to get attentionâ, but in Mexico, were nobody listens to you just because youâre a woman, you have to find ways to be noticed. We donât respect a country who doesnât respect us, we donât care for silly paintings, we care for our women today and always.
We, the feminists, have this song that says âWe are bad, we can be worstâ and we proudly sing it while we look for justice, for peace, for a better place for everyone.
