I just saw a bisexual blog claim that “all bisexuals” know that people identifying as pansexual only do so because of internalised biphobia and according to that person we (bisexuals) all talk about this behind closed doors. Which is an absolute lie and they’ve obviously been projecting heavily.

After some quick search on their blog for “pansexuality” there was even more vile bullshit against pansexuals. So I wanna point this out and make it very clear that gettin-bi-bi-bi does not agree with this in the slightest.

The bisexual organisation that I co-founded explicitly includes and advocates for all non-monosexual identities. It’s absolutely not true that “all bi activists secretly want to get rid of pansexuality” and the fact some panphobic bisexuals spread this blatant misinformation in an attempt to pit bis and pans against each other is appaling!

This blog here, despite its name and focus on bisexuality, is also not in the business of invalidating any non-monosexual identities and we’re more than happy to help any pansexual, polysexual, omnisexual, homoflexible, heteroflexible and other mspec people that might be out there.

Do some people have a false idea of what bisexuality is and thus not identify as bi even though they could? Sure. Which is why it’s important we offer resources and education so misconceptions about bisexuality can be eliminated and people can be fully informed about the options of labels to choose from.

Is it harmful to the bisexual community when people identify as something other than “bisexual”? Fuck nO!

Lastly, I would urge all you bisexuals out there to check and double-check what blogs you follow and reblog from. No bi positivity post is worth reblogging when the person who wrote it doesn’t stand for solidarity with other mspec identities and actively shits on anyone who doesn’t identify as bisexual.

Oh! And here’s a shout out specifically to nonbinary bisexuals because so often people define bisexuality as attraction to the “same and opposite gender” which excludes anybody that doesn’t fit the gender binary. You guys are still 100% bi and deserve to be recognised and included!

there is absolutely nothing wrong with being bi. you don’t have to apologize or hide any part of your attraction to multiple genders. it’s not a shameful thing, it’s not “half” of a different orientation, it’s not a fad. your orientation is real, and it’s a beautiful thing. you deserve respect and support.
