tumblr staff have been consistent about one thing: making death threats against trans women is not against the ToS or user guidelines. not in the sense that they just ignore reports on it, either - they have explicitly said it is not in violation and that no action will be taken, multiple times
Transcript: Why does this shit always ha - every time I go to the beach, some fuckin mollusk or dead thing pulls up. Are you at least alive? I mean, I donât remember you being on my towel, so Iâm gonna [pokes the crab] oh! wait [pokes it again] Oh! Big boy. [gasps as the crab runs away] Heâs a fa - what the fuck? Does he - live in the sea? [gasps]
having mutuals who are really into pro wrestling is so funny because one post will be like "i cant believe Cock Puncher Daryl still has a career after he got arrested for arson" and then they reblog 8 gifsets of what looks like gay bdsm
the main problem i have with america is that nothings old as hell there. i cant be so far away from a castle it damages my aura
man people really just say stuff on here huh
Noooo haha don't spread racist ideals and colonizer propaganda by idolizing white european aesthetics above all else and denying the life and accomplishments of native peoples on their own lands
People have been living in the downtown area of Tucson, Arizona for at least 4,500 years. The greater Santa Cruz river valley has been occupied by humans for 12,000 years.
You see this?
That's not a river. That's the South Canal in Mesa, Arizona (Phoenix metro area).
This is a view of the East and South canals. At least half of all the Phoenix metro canals were originally built by the Hohokam (from roughly 200-1400 CE), and are still in use (restored) today.
Phoenix, Arizona actually has more miles (kilometers) of Canals total than both Venice and Amsterdam. No, really. Phoenix has about 180 miles of canals, many of which are built on ancient canal foundations.
below is an aerial view photo taken in the late 1930's of one branch of Phoenix's canal systems:
Also have the "Montezuma Castle," if you need a castle:
I don't need to look at some 12th century European castle to see age.
Donât forget the continuously inhabited pueblos!!
The Taos Pueblo, Orayvi, and Sky City (Acoma) were all founded sometime before 1150AD and have been continuously inhabited since then.
Thereâs the Medicine Wheel in Wyoming - called AnnĂĄshisee by the ApsĂĄalooke, who also say that it was there before they arrived. We donât know how old it is. Oral history from several different indigenous tribes say it was built by ancient ancestors who lived without iron.
And then thereâs the Serpent Mound in Ohio, which, by the way, is the largest serpent effigy in the world.
Radiocarbon dates it back to at least 300 BCE. (2300 years ago), so, you know â the time of Ptolemy and the Punic Wars, and was later repaired by indigenous people about 900 years ago.
This just scratches the surface. So, yeah, we have a lot of old as shit stuff here built by indigenous people. Donât even get me started on South America.

everyone eat more vegetables NOW!!! and mention the last vegetable you ate in the tags so we're all on the buddy system. I'll start: bok choy
Thereâs an episode of Sesame Street (on Netflix! you can watch it easily!) where Elmo attends a toy-swap, where you offer up old toys you donât play with anymore and receive someone elseâs toys that are new to you. Cute!
But Elmo, after cheerfully surrendering his old toys, sees that the children who swapped toys with him are playing with his toys âwrongâ! Theyâre imagining entirely different make believe scenarios! Theyâre pretending the football is a dinosaur egg instead of a rocket ship! Aaahhhhh!!!! And this is so distressing to poor Elmo that he does the unthinkable: He does swapsies-backsies and takes all his toys back!
This being Sesame Street, he learns that you canât control how other people play pretend, but you can join in if you want to! And if you donât want to, thatâs ok, you can just play pretend your own way by yourself or with someone else who wants to play that way too. You can still be friends with people who play pretend differently than you (and arenât being mean/harmful/etc, do not bad-faith-read this đ¤¨).
Anyway this is a post about fandom.
making up characters is so fun because you can be like âthis is johnson he came from my mindâ and all your friends will go âyippe!!! horray!!! we love johnson!!!â
very unfortunate but hilarious side effect of calling the example oc johnson in this post is now people are saying this in the tags
âSubvertingâ Catholic art? Oh, okay. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You log onto the internet and you post about how âWound of Christâ from Psalter and Prayer Book of Bonne de Luxembourg, attributed to Jean le Noir, c.1349, for instance, looks like a vulva because you're trying to tell the world that you enjoy Catholic art and imagery in an alternative, queer, risquĂŠ way that challenges Christian beliefs. But what you don't know is that that stigma isnât just a vulva. It's not just a mandorla. It's not just yonic. It's actually intentionally erotic. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that around 1297, Saint Angela of Foligno experienced a vision of Christ himself, who called her to put her mouth to the wound in his side and lick the freshly flowing blood. And then I think it was Saint Catherine of Siena who drank blood and a clear liquid from the wound before receiving a ring made from Christâs foreskin? And then graphically erotic encounters with the side wound of Christ quickly showed up in the writings of eight different mystics. And then the yonic interpretation of the stigmata filtered down through the illuminated manuscripts and then trickled on down into some pseudo-intellectual corner of the internetâŚwhere you, no doubt, fished it out of some Pinterest board. However, that interpretation represents hundreds of years and countless visions of religious ecstasy. And it's sort of comical how you think that you've come up with an idea that exempts you from Christian theology when, in factâŚyou're posting an image that was sexualized for you by the very Medieval saints you think youâre so different thanâŚfrom âsubvertedâ Catholic art.
Hey everyone. There's a new youtube feature that rolled out just yesterday that's raising some privacy concerns.
People in the U.S., U.K., Brazil, and Singapore can now share videos and chat with friends directly within the YouTube app. The update bring
This post talks about a new DM feature in youtube. What it fails to mention is that as part of this new feature is that when you send someone a link to a video, and they open it in the youtube app, they will see who sent them the link. Specifically, your channel name.
If your google account name is your real name, so is your channel name by default.
This means the new default behavior is that everyone you send a youtube link to will see your full name if they open it in the mobile app.
To turn this off:
Go to your youtube app settings
Go to Privacy
Turn off "Channel visibility for shared links"
Trimming the source id (the stuff after the '?' in links) will also prevent this from happening.
