i would say it's incomprehensible but it's actually really obviously the racism

gotta admit, if CG isn't real, it is pretty impressive to have such an unnecessarily huge cast of character and do the most boring thing with each and every one of them. especially with how easy it would have been to make something interesting happen with them even unintentionally.

even writers near-unanimously scolded as "bad" will probably still write something interesting at some point. (take stephanie meyer for an example and how despite her main story being deeply mormon and incredibly racist, her side characters tend to be the most interesting thing about the universe she made. historically inaccurate but much more interesting.)

characters usually come to life at a certain point in the writing process and start actively seeking more interesting, personality-driven outcomes. the longer you write them the more they flesh out and the easier it is for them to just act completely on their own, usually in a way that is annoying and deeply reflective of their worst flaw that the writer then has to compensate for.

if it isn't an intentional commentary then these guys have never eaten anything but spoonfuls of mayonaisse. they wanted to give that sensation to us. that's the flavour in their mouths at all time and they wanted to pass it onto all of the innocent people who funded their mayonaisse empire.
