We’ve just received the final physical Kickstarter rewards, so we’re happy to say that in 14 days we’re gonna be shipping out the packages! Kickstarter backers, please remember to check your addresses and make sure everything looks right, so that your items will arrive at the correct location! ^^

Webshop open!

We’ve mentioned this on our Discord, but the Galdra webshop has been closed for a while now due to the unstable global situation. For various reasons, shipping overseas from Denmark has gotten a lot more expensive. The solution we’ve found for Kickstarter rewards is that we’re packing everything into a car and then taking a road trip to Germany to ship things from there (Yes, that is literally the least complicated solution ^^0) 

We’re aware, however, that many new and existing fans of the Arcadia Fallen series weren’t able to back the Kickstarter for Arcadia Fallen II. We want to give everyone the opportunity to get merchandise featuring the characters from our games, so for that reason:

The Galdra Store will be open from today, and we’ll ship these new orders out together with the Kickstarter Rewards in about 14 days from now.

Sending international packages will hopefully improve in the future, but while chaos reigns, we might have to close the shop again, so we hope people will use this opportunity while we can guarantee the store will be open.

What a month it’s been! Arcadia Fallen II released on April 9th and we are so, so happy with the reception it has received! So far, 100% of the Steam reviews are positive! How amazing is that?

The month flew by with release shenanigans, writing emails, fixing bugs and taking the time to read all of your comments and enjoy everyone’s reactions! So what’s next, you might ask?

Kickstarter Rewards!

We just got the test print for the artbook back and it's looking so pretty! It’s been sent for final printing now, so we’ll hopefully get those home soon. The postcards are also ready to be printed now that we have the final KS thank you card (this month’s header image). They’re all gonna look so cool; we hope you’ll enjoy them! 

We’re gonna make another update 14 days before we ship to give people time to update their address if needed.

Happy Release Month! Arcadia Fallen II releases on April 9 and we’re all so very excited to see this story we’ve been working on for so long go out into the world! Thank you to all of you for following our journey!

The full game is now available on Steam for beta testers! Early-access works the same as previous tests: you go to Steam and update your Demo and you’re ready to go! Whether you’ve already played the first half of the game, or you’re gonna be diving in for the first time, we hope you’ll enjoy your journey and we’re very excited to hear what you think! 

Remember to be kind to your fellow players and refrain from posting spoilers anywhere public. There’s a spoiler channel in our Discord for you all to use, together with a channel to report bugs if you happen upon one of those. Thank you all for being awesome!^^

We just received final confirmation that Arcadia Fallen II will launch on on PS5 & PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S together with the PC and Nintendo Switch release on April 9! 

This is about to get a little nerdy here, but we’re porting the game ourselves and we just wanna take a moment to give our programmer Daniel a round of applause for successfully porting and building to PC and ALL major platforms so they could all launch the same day! 

Due to NDA shenanigans, it’s difficult to explain just what kind of absolute crazy wizardry this man has performed to make this possible!

We’re glad that Playstation and Xbox players will be able to join the adventure with everyone else on April 9!

While we’re eagerly waiting for the release date, we’re also getting ready to send out Kickstarter rewards. We’ve been working hard on putting together an art book with lots of concept art, early sketches and fun notes from the team. Players can buy the digital version for PC when the game releases, but we’re also gonna be sending it for printing soon for backers who pledged for the physical art book. 

And while we’re at it! We’ve already got pins and charms ready to be shipped! Look at how sparkly they turned out. All we’re missing now are the art prints and the artbook, and then we should be ready to start sending out rewards!

We’ll send out a notice 14 days before we start shipping, giving everyone time to update their address if needed.

Hi everyone,

Lots of exciting stuff is happening this month... The most important thing is that we’re gonna announce Arcadia Fallen II’s release date tomorrow! We’ve been prepping what we think is a really cool trailer to reveal the entire voice cast, too!  We hope you’ll all like and share our announcement tomorrow on your favorite socials, so that we can make a big splash!^^ 

We’ve updated the public demo on Steam, so the extended demo is now finally and truly done with all the features of the full game. We hope you’ll enjoy it while you wait for the release.

The game is now pretty much ready for launch. We’re still doing extra QA to weed out missing sounds and tiny grammar issues to make things absolutely perfect, but our main focus now is on porting Arcadia Fallen II to all the different platforms. That means lots and lots of testing. Wish us luck as we work on this final stretch!

Beta testers will get access to the full version of the game roughly a week before release, so you’ll be able to do the math tomorrow when the date is revealed, and, of course, we’ll post another separate update for you when you’re granted access!

January felt super productive! So many cool things are coming together as we finish up the CGs, polish sound effects and adjust expressions. Beta backers can get a sneak peek of what we’ve been cooking in our latest beta build!

We just pushed another beta testing build for those Kickstarter backers with beta access. This version has two additional chapters, which brings us to about the midpoint of the game. It will also include the first public version of Arcadia Fallen II’s sneaking mini-game!

Just like how our alchemist in the first Arcadia Fallen could help out by brewing potions, our be-scarfed hero of Arcadia Fallen II can help Ragnar find his way through the Academy’s pipes to reach their Night Run destination.

Turn tiles to make a path through and maybe take a detour or two to pick up some late-night gossip along the way~

Ragnar now has portraits! Since Ragnar is very cute and tiny on his perch on the player’s shoulders, he needed custom portraits to zoom in on his adorable features. Don’t you just wanna squeeze those cheeks? ^^

Every day we’re getting closer to release, and that means it’s about time for us to put together our credits list! We’d like to remind Kickstarter backers who haven’t filled out their surveys to do so, so that we can put your name on the list!

Hi everyone!

It’s the final month of the year! November blew by like a storm and the office has been a little chaotic as we’ve been working to get all the different parts of Arcadia Fallen II together. So as the year is coming to a close, let’s do a status update on our progress!

We had a few logistical hiccups this month, which meant our beta demo for Chapter 3 had to be delayed a bit, but the good news is it’s out NOW on Steam. If you're a backer you can find the guide to access it in this month's Kickstarter update!

The delay meant that we were able to add a few extra features. The game menu is done, with the full character creator including hairstyles and body types. Save/Load also got an upgrade. And a bunch of new voice acting is also in there!

We hope you’ll enjoy playing through this next chapter and thank you for your patience!

We're still working on getting a new public demo out on itch.io for non-backers, and we'll be sure to let you know when its live as well!

We mentioned in an earlier DevLog that the game’s release might be delayed to next year to give us time to add all the cool features we unlocked through community goals, plus just general delays, because planning how long game development takes is hard. So that is what we’re gonna do! We’ll keep you updated on when we settle on a final date, but we’re fairly sure it will be early 2026!

This month, we reached what we call content freeze. That means all text is in the game, close to all the voice acting has been recorded, and all sprites and CGs are in the game, although some of them are still sketches. All foley sounds and music are in the game, and mini-games are designed, though some are still really buggy ^^0

So that means what we’re gonna be doing the next couple of months is polish, polish, polish. We’re gonna be testing for bugs, adjusting sounds, finalizing CGs and replaying the game over and over until we’re satisfied with the quality.

We did a bunch of stuff this month, but one thing we’re very proud of is the new character creator! We can’t wait to see all the wonderful students you’re all gonna be making with this!^^

The spooky season is upon us! The leaves are turning orange, the weather is chilly and we’re huddling together in our little office with warm drinks and fresh apples, getting a lot of good work done.

This month, we’ve been updating more of the game interface. Here are some of the new menu designs. Getting the menus right is no small part of a game such as ours, and the goal is to make them both functional and visually pleasing. We hope you’ll enjoy the final designs^^

We’re preparing ourselves for the first session of voice acting, which is super exciting! This means part of the manuscript has to be locked because we can’t make changes once it has been recorded, so a lot of time this month has been dedicated to polishing up those scenes. We believe the script is turning out great, so we’re looking forward to getting started on recording!^^

Another busy month with some really cool news for us to share! So let's not waste any time and get right into it!

We’re finally able to announce that we’re taking Arcadia Fallen II to Gamescom in August as part of the Indie Arena Booth! We are so excited to go to Cologne again. Last time, we were there to share Arcadia Fallen in 2022 (OMG where did the time go? xD). We had such a great time, and we’re looking forward to chatting with gamers and developers alike again.

There’s also gonna be an online exhibition on Steam for the folks who can’t be there in person, so we hope you’ll check it out and support all these awesome indie developers!^^

We’re continuing to update the graphical user interface, and this month we’d like to show you the new menus! The romance options now also have color-coded hearts (green for Kim, blue for Puk, etc.) to help make it clear who you’re flirting with. We hope you’ll enjoy^^

We have a new background! The Show Room is the main practice hall of the Illusionists. Here Professor Gordon will coach his pupils in the elegant moves of the Enchanted Fawn Dance and woe betide the poor dancer who doesn’t keep their toes pointed!

Hi everyone!

It’s been another busy month in our new office. Things have finally settled down a little and we’ve got a steady internet connection again, yay! Moving further out into the countryside has given us easier access to nature, and a lot of our breaks are now spent outside looking at flowers. 11/10, it’s a great energy boost!^^ So let’s take a look at what we’ve been working on…

The female body type now has sprites! There’s still some work left on implementing everything in the character creator, but we hope you can appreciate her floofy hair and cute scarf. Ragnar sure does!

This month, Daniel implemented a search mechanic for the game. Now, when there’s an opportunity to snoop around say, a professor’s office, you can click the background to investigate! What secrets might you find?

Soren listens to a lot of cool music, and Jesper is having a lot of fun adding lively numbers to his collection. Listen to this month’s track here with the timelapse of the June header image.

Happy April! This month, we’ve had the pleasure of having Lilybelle interning with us, and she drew this month’s header image of Hannah. Doesn’t she look enchanting? ^^ March was a busy month and April is shaping up to be even busier, so let’s get onto the news!

Today we’re adding Arcadia Fallen II emotes to our Discord! And, due to popular demand, everyone’s favorite flower mage Quinn now has one too! Thank you Lilybelle again for helping us get the server looking sharp for Spring, and we hope you’ll all enjoy using them!^^

Our little home office was starting to be rather cramped. A small army of Mime plushies will do that xD So, after much deliberation, we’re finally moving into a bigger space. We’ll share pictures of our new office once we get everything settled. Wish us luck heaving our heavy desks down the stairs! x,D

This month, Elias got a few new sprites and we also drew the background for the Mender Ward where you might find him helping accident-prone students get patched up.

One aspect of game development you might be less familiar with is how we approach showcase season. We want as many people as possible to hear about Arcadia Fallen II, and online showcases are a great way to reach our future players.

Showcase season is coming up, but a few months in advance we busy ourselves writing applications and preparing trailers. We're right in the middle of that process now, and we'll let you know which showcases we make it into. Fingers crossed for us and for everyone else going through the same process right now!^^

Hi Everyone!

While the weather outside our office is grey and dreary, the snowdrop flowers are blooming defiantly, as if to remind us that spring is coming^^ Progress on Arcadia Fallen II continues at a slow but steady pace. Let’s take a look at what we’ve been working on this month! 

We’re part of the Woman’s Day sale on Steam! Arcadia Fallen is 70% off together with a bunch of other really great indie games made by teams that are predominantly run by women and gender marginalized folks so be sure to check it out here!^^

This month Kim’s sprites got an update and some new expressions! He was the first character we drew for the Kickstarter demo, so a few of the earliest sprites needed a bit of a touch up to keep the look consistent. We hope you like them^^

We’re also carrying on the work on backgrounds and this month we now have the Dining hall to show off. This is the home turf of Mrs. Honning the school chef, who’s put her own personal touch on the decor to make sure everyone feels at home in her kitchen~

The implementation of foley sounds continues, but Jesper still has time to experiment with new music tracks so here’s the latest sample together with the time-lapse of this month’s header image.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Time has once again, like a gust of wind impossible to grasp, rushed by and left us breathless. Between family gatherings, cookie baking and a bad cold to top it all off, December went by in a flash and here we stand at the start of a brand new year, out of breath, with runny noses, but smiling, because despite all the tumult, 2024 holds many great memories for us to look back on. So let’s take a moment to do just that!

The big event of the year, of course, was the Arcadia Fallen II Kickstarter! So much work went into planning it, from designing merchandise and promotional material, to building and releasing our very first playable demo. We’ve tried running Kickstarters a couple of times now, and we’ve learned a lot from each of them, but things online change so quickly these days, there was really no way to know how it would do. Thankfully, we were blown away by the result! We’re so grateful to all of you who supported us and we’re looking forward to using that generosity to make the game the best it can be^^

What else…? Oh! We continued working on the game! xD We’ve been writing so many new scenes, character sprites have been drawn, music composed, and weird sound effects recorded! Backgrounds have been drawn, GUI updated and it’s just a satisfying feeling to see all these different parts of the game coming together. We’re looking forward to continuing production-mode in the new year.

One of the things we’re looking forward to in the new year is getting more mini-games into the game. Daniel has been swamped by other tasks for months now so it’s gonna be great having him back into programmer mode again. We’re gonna continue producing assets like music and art and we’re gonna be working on hooking scenes up, putting all the pieces together. One big milestone we’re looking towards is wrapping up all the content for the extended demo so we can share it with you all. We hope you’ll look forward to that^^

It’s December, which means our festive nisse has moved back in, hiding candy and cookies all around the office (I swear it wasn’t just me indulging my sugar cravings! ^^0) It also heralds the end of the year and, with hot cocoa and candlelight in abundance, we’re gonna do our best to finish strong!

Before we jump into what we’ve been up to this month, November 17th was Arcadia Fallen’s third birthday! Where did all the time go ahah?! The game is currently part of the Steam Autumn sale with a 66% discount, so if you have a friend who would enjoy a good adventure this December then be sure to let them know. 

Thank you so much to everyone who’s played our game. You’re the reason we get to work on cool stuff every single day, and we’re looking forward to sharing more wonderful tales with you in the future!

This month we’ve been taking a look at the game’s interfaces. In a visual novel, a lot of time is spent reading. That’s why we wanna make sure the text boxes look cool with a bit of variety when possible. Here are some of our experiments^^

We also added new character icons to the map, so you can see who you’re visiting before entering a location.

We did our first playtest of Chapter 2, so we now have the full story content for the extended demo. There’s still a lot of placeholder art that needs replacing before we can let any beta testers at it, but we’re very pleased about reaching this milestone^^

Hi everyone!

Happy Day of Spooks to all of you! We’re all enjoying the season of sweet tricks to spice up the Fall, and in this newsletter we have a couple of treats for you all to help fend off the cold.

Last month we did a lot of test sketches for the side characters, and this month we got started on rendering the final sprites. Professor Hyben is now ready to grace everyone at the morning assembly with his cheery tunes, and a warm smile will await you if you visit Mrs Honning in the Dining Hall.

It’s been another productive month on the writing front, answering all of life’s greatest questions like: How many lizards does it take to pick up a key? Is revenge best served in the form of dessert? How much should you trust someone before you teach them to create fire? Writing is a serious business, we swear!

Jesper has been working on foley sounds this month. That would be all the sounds the environment makes in the game: Slamming doors, creaky floors, and lots of magical sparkling~ Here’s a sample together with the speed-paint from this month’s header image.
