Hi! My name is Sarah, and I am a bi woman and a master’s student in psych that focuses on LGBTQ+ issues. I have a study that is currently ongoing that I was wondering if any of the mods here would be willing to participate in or post here for your followers. So I’m 17, male and in the UK. I’ve been straight all my life up to now, but around March I started noticing guys more. Then a bit more, and so on… I think (well, am pretty certain) I’m bi. But I’m confused.

I find some days I’m interested in guys, and others, girls. I tend to lean towards girls more and I think this might be what’s confusing me. Especially combined with the fact I’ve only felt this way a few months I find myself asking whether it’s just a phase. I feel… fake, and it’s all I can think about.

trust me, you’re not fake. Sexuality can be fluid, and it looks like yours is! You are bi enough. Your attraction fluctuates, it’s normal! Don’t feel like you have to be into one gender only, and for a certain amount of time. You’re definitely not the only one feeling this way.

it definitely doesn’t! Being bi simply means you’re attracted to more than one gender! You’re bisexual enough, trust me!

we understand you, we really do. Maybe next time when they ask why you like guys too, ask them why they’re only into women? It goes both ways. Sometimes there’s no explanation for our attractions. You might want to tell them at some point that it makes you uncomfortable because they act like they’re not accepting of you being bi.

I’m pretty speechless about what happened last night, and I’m so worried about all of you. I have lots of friends in the US, and I really just want to hug you all. Please make sure you’re safe, especially during the time after the election -- a lot of times bad people are encouraged and hyped by who was elected, and they can act more violent than ever.

This is a safe space. You can come here whenever you like, you can message us whenever you’re in the mood to. Share your thoughts and feelings. Express yourself. We are here for you. This is super important to say in a time like this. And I, we, mean it. We’re always here.

Your queer siblings are here. We’re strong together, and we can protect and strengthen ourselves when we’re in a group. We listen to each other, always.

Take your time to process. Self-care -- read your favourite books, watch your favourite shows, lose yourself in what you love. Play an instrument, watch a movie, hang out with friends. Write. Talk to your loved ones. Don’t forget to eat and drink, and please get enough sleep. If it’s hard for you to fall asleep, maybe try an audio play or keep a show on in the background. I love you.
