This took me waaayyyy too long to finish but I have! through the last of my online summer class, my uncooperating brain and also some really bad pain. Both physical and emotional

Anywho, this has been called flower crimes in my art docket. Inspired by @thatdude20's fic Fool For Love.

Details (and flower meanings (mostly from Wikipedia)

Queenie is holding rosemary and forget-me-nots. Rosemary is apparently not only for remembrance, but apparently also means "your presence revives me." Forget-me-nots are what they say on the tin

sweet peas near Queenie mean delicate pleasure and departure

spiderworts, some of my favorite flowers, are next to Caine and mean transient happiness

snowdrops scattered around mean consolation or hope and innocence

White lilies mean purity and sweetness. Does that seem too nice??? Yeah it is they're also poisonous funerary flowers

Bunch of purple hyacinths. :) They're for grief and sorrow; "please forgive me"

Adonis' flowers are for painful recollection and sorrowful rememberance

arnica is "let me heal thy grief"

Queenie has butterfly weed in her crown that Caine 100% put there themself while Queenie was bent over picking a flower slightly mischievously.

Butterfly weed means "let me go"

Caine's hands are mittens and jaws are smoother circle-ish cause it's an earlier avatar. Everything was simpler back then.

or is that just nostalgia talking

the butterfly on Queenie is a queen butterfly (I'm 100% gonna keep using this butterfly for stuff btw. Or the viceroy butterfly because I wanna be hilarious)

Caine's daisy dress is based off my own dress I recently got that I'm so excited about but will not have an occasion to wear it to for a whiiile

Okay these are on the corkboard and are mostly convenient cause I have a Collection of pressed flowers

Bougainvillea symbolizes both woeful and joyful passion

the baby's breath in the corner means innocence and purity of heart. I consider it preserved innocence or a memory of innocence though since it's dried

mountain laurel is a symbol of resilience in the face of harsh circumstances :D

Queen Anne's Lace is haven, sanctuary, and delicateness (I really love these flowers)

The fact I have a clay bee charm with a broken wing is just COINCIDENCCE I SWEAR IM REALLY TOUGH ON MY BELONGINGS ON DAY TO DAY I DID NOT DO THIS ON PURPOSE

actually no I can’t I think I was possessed I did this entire thing in one night, it was nowhere on my art docket and appeared to me in a vision and I was SUPPOSED to be finishing another piece that just has coloring left but nooooooo I had to go do a whole other piece outta the blue

I’d like to blame this on @thatdude20 and their new fic in the rule violation au. And it is appropriate!!! And it did propel me to finish this. But I had this in my head before I even read the new chapter I just added Scratch’s tail to the already in my head design after reading

anywho, details and thoughts and shtuff:

I already pointed out Scratch’s tail and Kinger’s cloak-thing is pretty obvious but Caine is (accidentally) ripping into it with his claws while grasping it (desperately)

while I like giving Caine sharp teeth these are all sharp teeth and a lot more jagged, along with his arms being really lopsided in count and the claws and the very jagged long coattails (though those are mostly jagged in distress) I went for a very monster-like feel. Because Caine is feeling monstrous and faulty and extremely awful all around basically

the only non-clawed hand is the one frozen/trembling in terror. You can’t see it but the fist balled up in anger is clawed

bow tie that’s supposed to be shaped like a butterfly is undone :(

I decided to fuck around with the suit design in a more my way style and ended up with this. The moon is now over his heart :D also the clouds were added not only to have more on the sun’s side but because I CANNOT get the Truman Show thumbnail they did with Caine outta my head. (In case I don’t see ya! Good afternoon, good evening, and good night)

didn’t originally do this on purpose but it works. Caine’s eyes are lacking color. Just another way he’s looking less human-like at the moment :)

also again fucked with his design to add a neck hole. But of course it just shows a void. I mean, it’s not like Caine really has anything of substance inside of him. Right? (I have no heart and I must love ahh)

Details:

The clouds are melting due to the overheat Caine causes himself and the circus

upper corner has Gangle reaching for him (or she pushed him off cause she accidentally activated the protocol (why not both))

I’ve been screwing around with the fic canon design for a bit (mostly with the shoulder pads) but I made the star the back centerpiece this time (def not bc a fic had Queenie call Caine her “superstar” and made me cry and adopt that hc

Ya know how actors take off their hats to bow for curtain call? yeah

Caine’s suit is the deeper of the two reds I have for him this time

though Caine has (useless) bee wings, none of the bees on his outfit are visible

usually I do the longer and more numerous the sun’s rays on his suit are the more distressed he is. I do think the protocol stopped him from being able to express any distress. Lol

”grow wings” “useless” “floor collapses” and “crushed like a bug in the ground” are the capitalized words in the lyrics

I looked up the actual patterns and anatomy for bee wings. Did not realize bees have the segmented/four wings kind of. Like butterflies!! :D

did I tear up while making this?? ……….no. That was because river otters were spotted in the back of my neighborhood near the bayou and river otters are coming back. (Actually I am tearing up again thinking about that)

okay since ya read all that. The last song is a bit,,, tonally different from the others. Because. If ya look at the bottom of page. You can see the very tips of Kinger’s fingers reaching up to catch Caine. Will this be continued in an eventual next piece with the lyrics of Famous Last Words? ……………………………………………………………………………………….…..maybe.
