Boy™ literally said to me, unprompted, that he would love to meet my family and that he thought they would get on swimmingly

I was like... yes??? of course???? you fucking idiot!?!? are you just fucking with me at this point

like I spent last semester literally dreaming about bringing you over for the big ol’ family thanksgiving because I knew you would love everyone and they would love you??? and now you’re just gonna drop that you think everyone would like you and not, like, be currently making out with me????????

Cut to last night, when they were just kind of doing that old-straight-couple thing where it seems like they find it normal and enjoyable but they’re also kind of airing out dirty laundry and challenging everyone around to take sides? And we all love this friend of ours and have only met the boyfriend once. He’s the kind of guy with like an unearned sense of confidence and he’s a mathematician which makes him think he’s smarter than everybody. Like... he went on a tangent about how he knows exactly how he wants a cocktail and how he should be able to give the bartender really specific instructions and I said “sounds like you need to make it your damn self” and he didn’t get the hint

fell desperately in love with a classmate and was convinced it was gonna become a relationship

but found out I was just misreading signals and this person is the kind of person who can make anyone feel like the center of the world (through no fault of their own!)

we’re still really close friends and hang out a lot on weekends and part of me feels like they just need time to grow up to see that we’re made for each other, but I’ve mostly gotten over it and am not putting all my eggs in that basket

now I’m talking to cute boys on dating apps again and may actually get dates out of it this time

the problem is that girls don’t approach me because of gendered expectations and I might have to approach them for gender parity

because everyone knows gender parity is the goal

I finished all 4 seasons. I was very on-the-fence about the recurring characters until the middle of the 3rd season. Then I fell hard, and woo the last couple of episodes really got me.
