how i use notion as a student!
thought itād be fun to give yāall a little tour of my student notion setup. i just started using notion and itās honestly a lifesaver for me! i use it along with a physical bullet journal for keeping track of daily to-doās.
i have a page for all my uni stuff that i split into semesters and will eventually be dividing into years. within each semester i have a page for each of my courses.
on each course page, i have info about the course, a section for my syllabus and other important docs, and a calendar where i type all of my notes and put deadlines and reading reminders from the syllabus. all of the calendars on my notion pages link back to a master calendar (aptly named big calendar) and i set filters for specific tags on the different pages (i have a tag for each course and filter my course calendars to show only the items tagged for that course.)Ā
also on the course page, i have a table view of the course calendar thatās filtered to show only my notes so i have easy access to them.
on the page for my private instrument lessons, i have a practice tracker where i log my practice sessions and keep notes. this is a work in progress as iām trying to create a layout thatās easier to read.
finally, hereās my master calendar! calendars from all of my uni courses, volunteering, and personal pages link to this one so that i can see all of my important information and dates at a glance.
notion is such a great tool, would really recommend checking it out if ur looking for a new way to stay organizedš
some snippets of my life lately: these macrame plant hangers that Iāve become obsessed with making, a pretty sky (because, like everyone else in the world, I too cannot help myself at the sight of pink clouds), a journal entry I made on finding and elevating my style, and some thank you notes I always paint to put in my depop orders! school doesnāt start for a couple of weeks, and Iām trying to savor the semi-free time before senior year⦠while manically applying for internships, of course.
06.09.20 / itās a quiet cloudy sunday. iām steamrolling through my to-do list so i can indulge in practicing piano this afternoon. howās your sunday so far? ā”

2020, August
I wrote and deleted the caption about ten times, but Iām just going to say it: I havenāt been feeling well recently. The fact I failed all my exams in June again - and meanwhile most of my friends are finishing their bachelor degrees - makes me feel overwhelmed and like a failure. All I wanted to do in life was go to university, but is it really worth it all this pain and loathing? I try not to linger too much on this question right now, and I fill my days with studying and working. Itās the best solution for now, but I guess at some point I will have to face the reality of things and decide whether I should drop out and do something about my future. I still love studying this stuff, but maybe it really isnāt for me.

My friend visited me in France & brought over a little goodbye book from my friend group š (+ an art print of where we all met) !! Living somewhere and not speaking the language is mildly isolating, but I'm determined to learn French and make new friends here too!!

āeat the frog' method
Hi all, itās werelivingarts. I just stumbled across this method calledĀ āeat the frogā, which means you get the most difficult or important task out of your way first. I actually have been using this method for a long time, hope this post gives you a new way of managing your time and productivity! š
āIf itās your job to eat a frog, itās best to do it first thing in the morning. And if itās your job to eat two frogs, itās best to eat the biggest one first.ā ā Mark TwainĀ
09.03.20 | apparently the sleeping beauty castle was based on the neuschwanstein castle, which was built by a gay king named ludwig ii.Ā he nearly bankrupted bavaria with the project and was declared legally insane.Ā he died 11 days after the castle finished construction

self discipline tips
here are tips I discovered very recently:
something is better than nothing. 5 minutes of work are better than zero. Just because you missed something on your schedule doesnāt mean you canāt still work on it, even for 5 minutes. Grow and build on this.
second drafts / reviews can be done after.
Donāt think you are going to do your very best work on the first try. Take the weight of perfectionism off your shoulders.
donāt think about doing it. just do it as fast as you can.
build on your productivity, not your failures.
If you come from a past of procrastinating and now feel motivated to change and discipline yourself, do NOT try to do everything at once.
if you have a set of different goals to accomplish, begin with the most important one. Wait until the rotine of working for that one settles in (you feel productive and comfortable-ish), and then begin with the next. Repeat.
this way youāll be building your way up and not juggling everything at the same time, hoping everything works out.
be patient with yourself, youāll get there!
set smaller deadlines for your goals
have monthly and weekly-ish deadlines
e.g. if you are doing a project, due 22nd Feb, set personal deadlines, like have Introduction written by 2nd Feb, have Methods written by 10th Feb, have project complete by 18th Feb.
take them as seriously as you possibly can, donāt miss out on yourself.
write realistic daily tasks and donāt stop until you finish them. after them you can do whatever you want
on writing realisticĀ daily tasks, the secret is knowing you can only do so much in one day, but trusting you can accomplish everything in the course of any period of time (a week, or 2 weeks or a month, etc.) because you will combine the work from all these different days.
itās very tempting to write down all the tasks you need to accomplish in one day to just get over with it, but the real deal is you wonāt accomplish half of them. Youāll feel very unproductive then, wich leads to demotivation.
spread daily tasks in the time necessary.
have a consistent sleep schedule.
if your mind isnāt ready everything will fall apart.
have one rest day per week where you plan nothing, do whatever you want except studying. this can be harder than you expect!
(donāt forget these are effective only if you actually put them into practice!Ā good luck babes!!)
{05.03.17} 21/100 days of productivity!! sorry for the super long hiatus ahh iāve been super busy in the last few weeks,, hereās a daily reminder: your grades do not define you. donāt let a stumble in the road be the end of your journey!! press on my fellow studyblrs!! āØ
