Eva awakes in a hospital bed, not knowing why she is in so much pain. She quickly learns she was struck by lightening and that her mother died the same night. Unfortunately, Eva cannot remember any of it. Soon, a ruthless cop with a Boston accent is doing all he can to arrest Eva as her mother's murderer. Eva strives to regain her memory, and she uncovers secrets and lies from throughout her life. Just as she thinks she's come completely unglued, the drama escalates. Did Eva murder her mother? And if so, why? And if not, who did? Could this same person be after her too?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It has so many aspects of a great psychological thriller. In fact, my greatest criticism is that it was not longer. It probably seemed even shorter to me because I devoured the story and looked forward to each of my reading sessions with this book. It was expertly crafted, in my opinion. The plot, the pace, the storytelling, the characters, the foreshadowing, and the superb writing came together in such a way that I felt propelled forward in my reading. What moved the beginning along was mainly the alternating viewpoints between Eva and her mother, Kat. As the present-day storyline of Eva playing detective of her lost memory unfolds, the reader also learns of Eva and Kat's long ago history through Kat's eyes. Unfortunately, however, once the stories align and both Kat and Eva are alternating the telling of Kat's final moments, it tended to get confusing.
This is a thrilling thriller, for sure, and I cannot emphasize enough how fabulous I found this novel to be. I highly recommend it to all adult readers who enjoy a good mystery and high suspense because it certainly meets my criteria for a psychological thriller: twisty and turny and unputdownable!
**Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review.**
I have been mostly MIA here on Tumblr lately, both on this blog and my book reviewing blog, but even though I'm not satisfied with my writing, I threw caution to the wind, sucked it up, got off my butt (and away from the tv...), etc to write and share my review of this brand spanking new thriller by Christina McDonald. I was so fortunate to get an ARC. It would have been disappointing if I hadn't fulfilled the expectation for me to read it and write a review for its release... So. I. Just. Did. It.
So. Now. You. Read. It.

Hereford Cathedral Library. The library was formally established in 1611, but the cathedral’s manuscript collection dates back to the medieval era. It is still a working library, and is notable for its collection of chained books (a common practice in the early modern era), and is the only library of this type to survive with all of the chains, rods and locks still intact. The chained library contains 229 manuscripts, mostly medieval, and the earliest book in the collection, the Hereford Gospels, is from around 780.

You guys, he’s back!
I didn’t know that I needed to see this until I saw it.
To put it simple. You DONT have to act tuff. To be a tough guy. haha
So I looked this guy up. First, not shown in the first gif is the fact that he’s just wearing regular pants:
Also, he’s written a sci-fi novel and has spent time in Africa building a school and orphanage for abused teenage girls. So, good for that guy.
Good guy mma dude.
Every time I see this i reblog it because a) it makes me super happy and b) it’s pretty much the most Michelangelo thing I’ve ever seen.

Review: An example of tragic editing, but a different, satisfying, and delicious ghost story.
Please join me in celebrating my first review being published on Reedsy Discovery by viewing my review!
And for those of you who like casual, but different, ghost stories, please consider reading The Ghosts of Miller's Crossing. 📖

What is the quote?
"Not all who wander are lost"
Perhaps it's because those individuals know it's not about where you end up, but rather it's about the experience of the journey and continuing to learn... After all, you'll never know everything there is to learn in this life...

Okay but seriously, do this. This is the number one way to topple narcissist agendas. You want your name everywhere? You want to be adored? Here’s consequence. Now no one will be able to look at you without remembering those kids and how utterly despicable you are. Attach his name all over this shit. Make it impossible for him to get away from it in future years too. #Trumpcamps.
Make this trend. Make it a top google search. Make this his fucking whole presidency. The only thing he did. Trumpcamps.
theres already a urban entry on this, let’s make it bigger

Every time I read that post about doing things out of spite I remember that C. S. Lewis put that fucking street lamp in Narnia because Tolkien once said that no good fantasy story would have a lamp in it.
This is probably my favorite bookish trivia I've ever read.
