after what happened to felix, alice goes above and beyond to save his pure soul from being corrupted by madness
โคท a/n : yayyy we're 500 !! omg thanks for everyone that enjoys reading my fics, I hope you guys like this one >_< it feels shorter than the others and a bit rushed, but it's my baby and I'm almost finishing this series, just need to edit the final chapters ^_^
On that cold morning, Aliceโs apartment suddenly felt hostile after that gut retching call. Every shadow carried an unfamiliar weight, and every surface looked subtly disturbed, as if something invisible had brushed against them, leaving a residue she couldnโt see but could feel crawling beneath her skin. The echo of the nurseโs voice on the phone still rang faintly in her ears, a chilling reminder that safety in Gotham was merely an illusion.
Driven by pure adrenaline, she moved mechanically over the rooms, throwing on a faded pair of jeans, a heavy sweater, and her jacket, fingers working fast but numb at each movement. On the coffee table, the green card the Riddler left behind sat like a toxic stain on what once was her sanctuary, though it had been a long while it wasnโt that anymore. She hesitated for only a fraction of a second before snatching it up and shoving it deep into her pocket.
Catching her reflection in the hallway mirror before leaving, Alice froze. The pale and dry skin pulling at her eyes rimmed with sharp red lines, hair still tangled from sleep and a sudden, violent influx of stress. She looked like someone who had been taken away from her own home and found guilty of a crime she didnโt commit, or perhaps thatโs what she wanted to believe.
Locking the door behind her, she went down the stairs two at a time. Outside, the city was wide awake, but everything about it felt distorted, as if a thin, suffocating veil separated her from the rest of humanity. Cars honked brutally, a city bus full of apathetic commuters released a gray cloud of smoke, and two men argued loudly on the corner over nothing that mattered.
It was the ordinary soundtrack of a Gotham morning, completely indifferent to the fact that Felix was lying in a hospital bed with acid burns eating through his skin. Her chest tightened so sharply she had to catch her breath before waving to a passing cab.
The ride dragged agonizingly, every red light felt like a hundred years, a personal punishment from the city itself. Her knee bounced uncontrollably as the skyline shifted past the rain-streaked window in grim blurs of concrete and glass. She watched pedestrians crossing the streets, laughing into phones and clutching paper coffee cups. None of them cared. The air could be filled with toxicity and none of them would even bat an eye.
The cab screeched to a halt in front of Mercy Hospital, looming above her, sterile and imposing, its glass doors sliding open and shut with a mechanical indifference, swallowing the sick and spitting them back out.
Alice bolted inside, and the smell hit her like a physical blow, harsh antiseptic layered over something metallic and faintly sour. Overhead, the fluorescent lights hummed a low, clinical drone that made her head throb along the constant buzz of peopleโs voices.
โFelix Lee Quinn,โ she gasped, gripping the edge of the front desk. โSomeone called me saying he was admitted a few hours ago. Acid injuries.โ
The nurse typed with practiced speed, her eyes flicking across the monitor. โMs. Key, right? Fill up this formulary then you can head to the burn unit on the fourth floor. Heโs out of surgery, but he's still sedated.โ
Alice picked the formulary with trembling fingers of adrenaline andย fear. Bureaucracies, the world could be ending and they would still give you a form to agree to that situation. The elevator felt like a metal coffin rising too slowly, in the mirrored walls her reflection looked entirely detached, as if she were watching a stranger fall apart in real-time. Finally, the screen signaled the fourth floor as the doors parted.
The burn unit corridor was eerily quiet compared to the chaos downstairs. Heavy, reinforced doors lined the hall, punctuated by restricted access signs. A faint, chemical scent lingered in the air, sharp enough to sting the back of her throat.
Spotting a doctor stepping out of a room, she intercepted him immediately. โExcuse me, Iโm Alice Key. Is Felix Leeโ?โ
The doctor gave a solemn nod. โHeโs stable. The burns are primarily concentrated on his chest, left arm, and a bit of his face. The substance appears to have been thrown from close range. We managed to neutralize the chemical quickly, but there will be permanent scarring.โ
Close range. The words felt like a physical strike. It was definitely intentional. โWas he conscious?โ Her voice cracked in an almost whisper.
โFor a few minutes before we took him under. He was disoriented, but he kept repeating your name.โ
Aliceโs chest tightened painfully. โCan I see him?โ
The doctor stepped aside, gesturing toward the door, where she entered the room with hesitant steps. Felix looked devastatingly pale against the crisp white sheets. His chest and left arm was heavily bandaged, thick layers of gauze also wrapped around his neck, tracing the line of his jaw. Beside the bed, monitors kept in a steady, rhythmic beep, a mechanical peace that felt entirely foreign to the violence that had put him there.
His usually expressive face was apathetic under the weight of the sedation, his lips slightly parted, totally stripped from his usual bright energy. Looking so fragile, Alice carefully approached the bedside, fingers hovering over his injured hand before she finally let them rest gently against the mattress.
โHi, Lix,โ she whispered, her voice trembling a bit. โIโm here.โ
His eyelids fluttered, it was a visible struggle, but he managed to drag himself upward through the medicated haze that held him down.
โHi, Alice.โ The words were rough and low, barely a breath.
A mix of relief and horror collided in her chest as she sobbed quietly. โIโm so sorry, Lixโฆ I'm so sorry this happened.โย
โWhat are you sorry for?โ His voice was weak, but he still gave a faint chuckle, though it clearly cost him some effort. โYouโre not responsible for this, and Iโm okay now, they took good care of me.โ
A bittersweet, humorless smile twitched at the corner of her lips. โAt least for once youโre not the one taking care of everyone else.โ
He let his head sink into the lifted pillow with a deep exhale, wincing a bit with the movement. โYeah, it feelsโฆ nice. I guess. Though Iโm not sure I could get used to it.โ
Outside the room, a sudden rush of activity broke the silence. A cluster of nurses hurried past the door, pushing a gurney down the corridor, their rubber soles squeaking sharply against the polished linoleum, their urgent voices blurring together before fading down the hall.
Felix slightly tilted his head and watched the door with furrowed brows. โAre things that badโฆ out there?โ He asked quietly, the strain evident in his voice.
Alice glanced toward the small window in the door, looking out at the sterile corridor as if she could see the entire bleeding city right through the walls. โIt seems like Gotham is finally trying to eat itself.โ
โSuch a pity. Sometimes I think that Gotham doesnโt have salvation anymore.โ He murmured, his voice drifting. โYou seem great thoughโฆ still pretty like a doll.โ
Her head snapped back toward him, every muscle in her body instantly tensing up. โWhat?โ
โHm?โ His brows knit together slightly, the fog of sedation dulling his gaze.
โWhat did you just say?โ
โThat you look well,โ he answered, slower this time, a soft and eery smile creeping onto his face.
โAnd after that?โ
A flicker of genuine confusion crossed his features as he gave a light laugh. โIt just feels great to see you, Alice.โ
Her pulse hammered violently in her ears. Deep in her mind, threads began connecting themselves without her permission, spinning a web of cold dread. She swallowed hard, forcing her voice into something that resembled control.
โFuck, I need to get going,โ she said, backing away slightly. โI forgot to grab some things I left in Arkham from weeks ago.โ
โBe carefulโฆ when you walk around there.โ He murmured the warning, placing his fingers on top of hers and squeezing her hand gently. โYouโll visit me again, wonโt you, angel?โ
The word wrapped around her like a whisper from somewhere much darker. โYeah,โ she said faintly, her throat tight. โI will, Lix.โ
The word doll lingered in her ears like a poison that spread all over her body as soon as she left the room. It couldnโt be a coincidence, but it also couldnโt be unrelated to the Joker. But why would he even target Felix? Was Hyunjin trying to find new, twisted ways to force her to speak with him?
Alice hadnโt actually forgotten anything at Arkham, but she needed an excuse to go back home and be alone with her swirling thoughts. She cursed herself for not risking it and stealing the other case files straight from the GCPD. For not being as bold as Jisung expected her to be. Instead, the night flew by in a blur of caffeine and panic as she leaned over stacks and stacks of asylum paperwork she already had at her apartment, desperately trying to understand similar cases to his, or at least find a pattern, a name, a motiveโanything that could connect a devil to an angel.
Over the following days, she kept up her routine of visiting Felix at the hospital, though most of the time he was asleep under the heavy effects of morphine. But on the rare moments he woke, there was something in his eyes that felt completely broken. A faint, unsettling glint of something unhinged that hadn't been there before the acid.
โ
The days after it had been an oppressive grey ever since the sunrays tried to break through the heavy clouds every morning. Alice walked through a sea of dead-eyed Gotham citizens, once again making her way back to Mercy Hospital. Over the past few weeks, Felix had shown signs of improvement, no longer entirely reliant on the pain medication just to survive a brief conversation, the chemical burns were slowly healing, leaving behind not deep craters, but a ghostly, blemished discoloration on his skin.
The hospital corridors felt stranger, calmer lately as if the chaos unfolding on the city streets had simply become the accepted norm for everyoneโs daily routine. Reaching his room, she knocked softly and pushed the door open.
โHey, Lix. I brought cookies today. The nurses said you could go back to your normal diet if youโre feelingโฆ well.โ
The words died in her throat. The bed was empty.
She looked around the room, eyes landing on the bathroom door that stood slightly open. Through the small opening of the bathroom window, a makeshift rope of hospital sheets stretched down into the shadows of the empty alley below.
Her chest tightened so hard it stole the air from her lungs. She didnโt even register the sound of the bag of cookies hitting the floor, scattering its crumbles all over the linoleum.
Alice bolted back into the corridor, rushing from window to window, her eyes scanning the streets below for even a fleeting glimpse of Felix, or perhaps a sign that he was just out there lost and looking for her. A worried nurse stopped her, asking if she was feeling alright while guiding her to sit down.ย
The hospital was a dead end for Alice, but something deep inside her knew where she had to go. Somewhere she was certain she could find a clue to whatever madness had taken hold of him lately.ย
The key to Felixโs apartment was useless as it was already unlocked, the door resting an inch away from the frame. Aliceโs heart did a slow, heavy roll in her chest, she pushed the door open, the hinges letting out a faint, agonizing whine that seemed to echo down the deserted hallway of his apartment building at the upper west side.
โFelix?โ She breathed, stepping over the threshold.
No answer. The apartment was freezing, the window on his living room was completely open, letting in the biting Gotham air and the distant, low rumble of traffic and ambulance sirens. But it wasnโt the cold that made her freeze, it was the sheer devastation of the space.
Felixโs apartment, which she only visited once after a night out filled with too many drinks, was usually a warm sanctuary of scented candles, vinyl records, and vibrant art prints, but now it looked like it had been hit by a hurricane. Alice stepped forward, her boots crunching on shattered glass. The framed pictures that usually lined the hallway had been ripped from the walls, their glass smashed, the photos inside torn to shreds.
She walked deeper into the living room, her breath nearly fading in the cold. The floor was a wasteland of scattered decorations, ceramic vases were reduced to dust and cushions had been violently gutted, his medical diploma lay ripped on top of his dining table.
Lining the perimeter of the room were hundreds of ripped pages from the Gotham Gazette, pinned and taped frantically to the plaster. Dark and aggressive marker circles bled through the newsprint, highlighting dangerous names that became too familiar to her, but mainly focusing on one face, or better one smile.
Until a soft, ragged sound broke the silence, a faint and shuddering sob.
Aliceโs head snapped toward the small bedroom on the end of the corridor. She crept forward, her hands shaking as she pushed the bedroom door open.
Felix was there, curled into the furthest corner of the room, wedged between the wall and the mattress, his knees pulled tightly to his chest. He was wearing a filthy, oversized grey hoodie, the hood was pulled low but she could still see the heavy hospital gauze half-torn from his neck and jaw, revealing the bleached and peeling skin beneath.
From that distance she could see him trembling violently, his fingers clawing at his own scalp while murmuring nonsense.
โOh my God, Felixโฆโ Alice choked out, taking a slow step into the room. โLix, look at me.โ
He didn't look up, but his rocking motion sped up. He began to mumble, the words tumbling out of him in a breathless, frantic stream. โHad to leave. Had to. He was going to find me. The walls were too white, too clean, I couldnโt think over the beeping. The joke... the joke is only funny if you finish the punchline, Alice. He told me the punchline that night.โ
Absolute dread pooled in her stomach upon such a vulnerable sight of him. โFelix, youโre not well. Itโs probably some after effects of the medication youโve been taking. You stopped your treatment too soon, we need to get you back to the hospital, please. You could get an infection orโฆโ
โNo hospital!โ he snapped, his voice suddenly harsh and lower than usual, though he still didn't look at her. He went back to clutching his head, his voice dropping to an erratic whisper. โHe said I had to do it. He was very clear. The Clown. He smiled, Alice, he smiled right at me and said I was his special little doll. He said if I donโt finish the job, if I donโt do what he orderedโฆ heโll come back for you. Heโll burn the rest of me and you too. I have to do it. I have to go on with his plan.โ
โFelix, please, listen to me,โ she pleaded, tears stinging her eyes. The sight of him, usually so bright and soft yet fiercely protective, reduced to a shivering puppet of Gothamโs worst monster was too much to bear. โThe Joker isn't here. He's manipulating you. Let me help you. We can do this together, you arenโt alone in this.โ
She took a cautious step forward, reaching out a hand to touch his uninjured shoulder, desperate to ground him, to pull him back from the edge of the abyss. โLix, please, just look atโโ
In a fraction of a second, the boy in the corner vanished, exploding upward with terrifying, erratic strength, and a primal groan erupting from his throat. Before Alice could even gasp, Felix lunged at her, his hands slamming into her shoulders and throwing her backward, the back of her head cracking against the hardwood.
Through a sudden blur of pain, she saw him tower over her, his face completely distorted by a manic, feral panic. He pinned her down, his uninjured hand gripping her throat, not tight enough to strangle, but enough to trap her, his fingers digging into her skin. The unbandaged side of his face was inches from hers, his eyes wide, bloodshot, and utterly vacant of the Felix she knew.
โYouโre going to fucking ruin it!โ he screamed in her face, a terrifying, cracked sound. โHeโs watching! Heโs always watching! He has a plan and now Iโm part of it!โ
โFelixโstopโitโs me!โ Alice choked out, clawing weakly at his unyielding wrists.
The sound of her voice, strangled and terrified, seemed to act like a bucket of ice water. Felix froze, chest heaving heavily, his eyes finally focusing on her face. He looked at his hand wrapped around her neck, then down at her tear streaked face and the bruise already forming on the side of her sensitive skin.
The maniac light in his eyes shattered, leaving behind a hollow, agonizing realization. He recoiled as if he had been burned all over again, scrambling backward until his spine slammed into the wall, staring down at his own shaky hands, a broken sob escaping his lips again.
โNo, no, no,โ he whispered, his voice cracking into desperation. He looked at her with wide, scared eyes, his expression a mask of pure horror for his own self. โAliceโฆ oh God, Alice, Iโm sorry. I didnโt mean to hurt you, Iโm so sorry.โ
Alice sat up slowly, rubbing her throat, her body shaking from the adrenaline. โItโs okay, just let meโโ
โNo! Stay away from me!โ He shrieked, pressing himself harder against the corner, pulling his hood down to hide his face. He was crying now, deep, agonizing chest sobs that tore through the freezing room. โHe stained me. I canโt let him stain my angel. Leave me alone. Please, Alice, just leave! Get away from me before Iโฆ before he makes me do something else. Just go!โ
The only thing she could hear as she rushed out of the room was his monotonous voice repeating over and over, โYour performance isnโt over yet. You still have a grand finale waiting for you.โ
The cold Gotham rain came down all at once, a sudden storm that matched the chaos in Aliceโs chest. She practically threw herself out of the apartment building, stumbling onto the slick pavement, her breath came in ragged, hyperventilating gasps, the phantom pressure of Felixโs fingers still burning around the sensitive skin of her neck.
She ran blindly for blocks, her boots splashing through deep puddles, the neon signs of the city blurring into long streaks of bleeding color. The rain soaked through her coat, but she barely felt it, all she could see was the hollow, terrified look in Felix's eyes right before he screamed at her to leave.
Desperate for shelter, she ducked into the wooden door of the first dimly lit cafe she saw. The smell of stale coffee and damp wool hung heavy in the air. Sitting in a corner booth far from the window, her body shook uncontrollably from a volatile mix of adrenaline and freezing rain. With trembling, numb fingers, she reached into her jacket pocket.
Aliceโs hand closed around a stiff paper, pulling out the green card Riddler left behind on a morning that felt ages away. It was pristine despite the dampness of her clothes, still a single phone number and a question mark written in sloped handwriting .
Alice stared at it, a heavy knot of reluctance tightening in her stomach, turning to Nygma meant entering a whole different kind of madness, playing a game where the rules changed constantly and the cost of admission was always too high. But she didnโt have a choice, time was ticking and Felix was running out of time.
She pulled out her phone, dialed the numbers, and pressed it to her ear. It rang twice before someone picked up, there was no greeting on the other end, only the sound of rhythmic breathing.
โJisung, I need your help,โ Alice whispered, her voice wavering. She didn't even bother introducing herself, he knew everything about her anyway. โI need to know what the Joker is planning next. Whatever attack heโs setting up,ย I need to find it before it happens.โ
An amused hum drifted through the receiver, followed by a voice that sounded entirely too pleased. โA problem without a witness is a mystery, dear Alice. But a problem shared is a very fun game. Let's see how quickly the pieces fall into place, my clever girl.โ
The line went dead.
โ
A week passed in an agonizing blur of sleeplessness and paranoia, when a typed note with nothing but a time, a date, an address and a green question mark appeared beneath her apartment door. Which was how Alice found herself slipping through the heavy velvet curtains of Gothamโs historic Monarch Theatre at midnight.
The air inside was thick, smelling of old dust, aged wood, and expensive perfume. Despite the hour, the theatre was packed to capacity for a special midnight contemporary performance from an elite european director. Up on the dimly lit stage, actors moved in haunting, slow-motion choreography, a bizarre play centering around fallen angels and the rise of demons. The high-profile audience sat in static silence, oblivious to the reality going around in the city, entranced by the beautiful and grim spectacle.
But Alice didn't look at the stage, she kept her head down, weaving through the shadows at the edge of the auditorium until she reached the heavy wooden door marked โBackstage โ Authorized Personnel Onlyโ.
Sliding through the door, the ambient music of the play muffled on her back, replaced by the echoing silence of the backstage corridors. It was a labyrinth of exposed brick, towering wooden set pieces, and tangled ropes hanging from the ceiling like vines. The lighting was poor, restricted to a few incandescent lights that threw distorted shadows against the walls.
She walked deeper into the dark halls, her heart hammering against her ribs. Why here? she thought, her hands clenching into fists inside her pockets. What did the Joker want with an auditorium full of people?
A shadow suddenly shifted near the prop storage area, making Alice freeze under one of the flickering lights. โFelix?โ She called out, her voice barely louder than a breath.
The figure stepped out from behind a stack of pilled boxes, the dim light caught his silhouette, and for a fraction of a second, relief washed over her. It was actually him, out of that filthy hoodie, but now dressed in a sharp, tailored navy suit that made him look eerily elegant and essentially not him at all.
As he stepped fully into the light, the relief turned to pure dread in her veins. The bandages were completely gone from his face and neck, revealing the uneven texture of the chemical burns slicing across his jaw and up toward his ear. But it wasn't the physical scars that made Alice take a step back that time.
The trembling, terrified boy rocking back and forth in his apartment a few days ago was gone. Felix stood perfectly straight, shoulders relaxed, head tilted at an odd, unnatural angle, the tips of his once blond hair painted in mismatched tones of blue and red. His mouth was stretched into a wide, rigid grin that didn't seem genuine behind his unblinking and glassy eyes, where the right one now displayed a single tattoo of a teardrop under it.
It was a look she had seen on the news, in police files, and in the darkest corners of Arkham, one that belonged entirely to the Joker.
โYou're late for the show, Alice,โ Felix said, his voice didn't shake, carrying a strange, singsong lilt, a melodic cadence that sounded entirely foreign coming from his lips. He took a slow step toward her, glazed eyes locking onto hers with predatory focus. โThe curtain is about to go up.โ
โFelix, please,โ Alice whispered, her voice trembling as she forced herself not to step back, reaching out to him even though it scared her to do so now. โLook at me. This isn't you. You don't have to do whatever the Joker is telling you. Heโs trying to use you, Lix. Youโre stronger than this.โ
For a fraction of a second, the rigid, terrifying grin on his face cracked. A tremor went through his jaw, and even if just for a second, through his unfocused eyes, a flash of his old self flickered over a confused and agonizing expression. He looked down at his own hands, his chest beginning to heave.
โI have to,โ he rasped, his voice tearing between the foreign singsong lilt and his own low tone. โYou donโt understand, Alice. I have to follow the script. If I donโt finish the punchline, heโll come for you. Heโll make you look like me, or even worse. Iโm doing this for you!โ
โWe can fight him together,โ Alice pleaded, stepping hesitantly into his space and reaching for his scarred face, caressing every mark the devil gave him and feeling him lean on her gentle touch. โWe can find a way out of Gotham, we can go to the police, we can hide. Just donโt let him win this time, please.โ
Desperate to ground him, to shatter the last remnants of Hyunjinโs hold on his mind, she pulled him down and kissed him. For a breathless moment, the world seemed to tilt sideways. Felix's entire body went rigid under her touch, before a shuddering moan escaped him. His grip tightened on her waist, and he kissed her back with a desperate, crushing intensity, like a drowning man catching his final breath. And for once the manic light in his eyes seemed to dim, replaced by the familiar warmth she used to love so much.
But as they pulled apart, the tragedy in his expression was still there to break her heart. The unhinged gaze didnโt return, replaced by an absolute shade of sorrowful resignation.
He came to rest his forehead on hers, still clinging to her waist like a lifeline, even though there was none to hold on to anymore. โWe need someone to save this city from decay, Alice. Someone goodโlike real goodโnot like Batman. Someone like youโฆ our angel. My angel.โย
โI'mโIโm not an angel, Lix. I wanted to save this city, but I canโt do it alone. I'm just a human like you. But you can be good again if you only help me fight the Joker.โ
โI canโt. He stained me already,โ he whispered, his voice barely a breath against her lips. โIโm sorry, this is the only way to save you.โ
Before she could process the words, his hand clamped down around her wrist in an iron grip, bruising and entirely unyielding.
โWhat are you doing?โ She panicked, tugging backward, but he didnโt budge. He just stood there, looking at her with tears pooling in his eyes, holding her firmly in place. โFelix, Let go! Please!โ
โYoo-hooo, Dollfaceโฆ did my pierrot capture you already?โ
The voice echoed through the cavernous corridor, cutting through the distant sounds of the ongoing play. That familiar theatrical screech she came to despise so much, dripping with manic amusement and malice. The Joker was there, not in a master plan to hurt all those people, but to lure her into a trap. The sound of his dancing footsteps sent a jolt of pure terror straight down Aliceโs spine.
โFelix, please! Wake up, we need to go!โ Alice cried out, throwing her entire weight backward, clawing at his fingers with her free hand. But Felix just closed his eyes, a single tear falling through the blemished, scarred skin of his cheek. He didnโt let go.
โIโm so sorry, angel, itโs for your own good.โ His voice sounded like a shard of glass cutting through his throat.
The uneven footsteps grew louder, turning the corner of the brick hallway. Hyunjinโs hair was back to a toxic shade of neon red, now styling a fitted purple suit that made his striking, elegant figure a thousand times more grand and imposing, reinforcing his post as the clown prince of Gotham.
Before he could say something else, a violent sound cut through the darkness. A choleric cough mixing with the applause of the stage behind them.
Felix suddenly gasped, his chest locking up as a ragged cough also tore from his throat. Alice opened her mouth to speak, but the air in the corridor had suddenly turned heavy, bitter and sweet all at once. A yellowish and green vapor rapidly bloomed from the shadows, rolling down the hallway like a wave.
Alice choked again, her own lungs burning as she inhaled the mist. Instantly, the dark brick corridor began to warp, the flickering work lights bled into blinding rivers of crimson. Monstrous shapes bubbled out of the walls, demonic, cackling faces with crooked fangs, weeping statues of angels that rotted into skeletons before her eyes. The sound of the Jokerโs distant laughter twisted into a deafening roar that felt like it was ripping her brain apart.
Through the horrific hallucinations wrapping around them, she felt Felixโs iron grip suddenly slacken as he collapsed to his knees, clawing at his own throat in terror. Alice tried to run, to scream, but her limbs felt like mush. From the thick yellow fog, a slender silhouette materialized, but this time it wasnโt the Joker.
Before she could even process the shifting nightmare, a rough, chloroform scented rag was slammed brutally over her mouth and nose. As she inhaled a concentrated, suffocating dose of the toxin, the monstrous images in her mind flared into a blinding crescendo of horror, her knees buckling beneath her.
But before darkness closed in to swallow her consciousness whole, the very last thing Alice saw through her tearing eyes was a stitched, grotesque burlap mask, and the hollow eyes of a scarecrow staring down at her and soothing her to sleep.

cowboy! felix who quietly played with the tequilaโs bottle cap at the almost empty saloon, rolling it back and forth over his slender fingers, the old, rusty fan squeaking at every turn to kick up a poorly warm breeze, when the sound of the wooden doors swinging open and the ring of cowboy boot spurs disrupted the deadly silence, you wore a low hat hiding your face and chaps wrapping tightly around your thighs
cowboy! felix who sees you signalling quietly to the bartender for a pour but insisting on keeping your head low, though not low enough for him to miss the dark outline of your lashes and lips, a view that reminded him too much of a wanted poster heโd just seen in the neighbouring town, a heist gone wrong forcing the mysterious criminal lady to run on the spot but still leaving a price of $2.000 for her head, he sends another lingering glance to your side, tracing the slightly open neckline of your shirt, and smirks at his lucky day
cowboy! felix who waits for you on your way out, mastering his best smooth talking, a low tone and a charming smile as he brushes his calloused fingers over the soft skin of your face, you reply with a coy smile, glancing upwards at his freckled face under his black hat, the red leather jacket doing poorly at hiding the toned chest behind his overly open shirt, but you knew better than to fall for a pretty trap, with a single sharp whistle your horse was already at the door and in a fraction of a moment you were riding hard towards the sundown
cowboy! felix who curses under his breath and calls his own horse from far away to chase you down, a reluctant smirk pulling at his face, in a few minutes he managed to catch up to your desperate pace, holding tightly to the reins so he wouldn't get distracted by the rhythm of your thighs and ass riding right ahead of him, with a shake of his head he noticed a river up front and in a skilled maneuver he managed to cut you off, your mount rearing in fright and dropping you with a hard thud on the ground before bolting, with a pained moan and your mouth hanging agape you send a defeated gaze up to the cowboy towering over you
cowboy! felix who tries to force his growing smirk into hiding upon thinking of the generous reward he just bagged, but not before sending a slow glance to the movement of your heaving, damp breasts as he loops a rough rope around your wrists, giving a slight tug just to be sure, but also reaching down his hand to help you up onto his saddle, unwillingly you mounted it followed close by him who positioned himself right behind you, hard chest glued to the curve of your back as he took the reins around your waist and galloped toward somewhere to camp that night
cowboy! felix who set up a cozy camp for both of you on the side of the dusty road, the flicker of flames from the fire dancing between you as he leaned back against a rock to rest his sore muscles, a single wheat straw hanging between his lips after eating a humble dinner, rolling it from one side to the other as he observed the deep frown on your face and the shades of amber light flickering over your undeniably attractive features
cowboy! felix who listened to every curse that left your lips, the slight, angered heave of your chest, bargains and more bargains leaving your mouth, promises he didnโt care about the slightest because his mind was fixed onรงy on the cash, though a small part of him was really enjoying the view, tired from your whining he fluttered his eyes closed and rested against the rock, expecting you to tire yourself out sooner or later
cowboy! felix who was blessed by a sudden silence that stretched only for a few minutes before the light scrape of your boots tumbled right to his side, but still refusing to open his eyes, he heard a faint rustle beside him as you apparently managed to kneel next to him even with your wrists still tied to one another, a moment passed when he felt the slight brush of your fingers tracing a line over his open shirt, a shiver running down through his chest, blooming into a sudden warm touch
cowboy! felix who forces himself not to open his eyes even when you unbuttoned his shirt all the way down, letting the slight warm breeze hit his carved chest and abdomen, he cursed himself mentally for the things he had to endure just for some money, still refusing to give in to the devil woman playing with him, but apparently you werenโt done with him yet as he suddenly felt the rustle of fabric when you placed your knees on each of his sides and rested your weight right on top of his crotch, his thighs tensing up as you leaned down close to the curve of his neck, pressing long and wet kisses all over his skin
cowboy! felix who felt your hands balancing your weight over his chest that now rose and fell in need and distress, again he cursed himself repeatedly in his mind but still refused to meet your devilish gaze, even when you shifted against his growing bulge, even when you ground your hips around it, even when you slid your hands down to his stomach and the zipper of his jeans, even when you wrapped your skilled fingers around his almost bursting length, he pressed his lips tighter around the straw and choked down a breath and a moan all at once at the sudden pressure of your palm against his sensitive tip
cowboy! felix who shot open his eyes at the sudden increase of the speed of your hand and the intoxicating feeling of a load pooling deep inside his packed balls, finally shooting a warm release all over the lines of his stomach, chest heaving in lust and anger, eyes locking with yours in a feverish daze of hatred and the need for more, a smirk curled on the side of your lips as you felt his rough, shaky fingers stumbling over your zipper, pulling your denim down to the top of your thighs and quickly aligning his pulsing member that, in just a few pumps of his fingers, grew to the same length as before, if not harder against the heat of your dripping folds
cowboy! felix who delighted himself in the small moans and breathy gasps that left your lips upon feeling him filling up every inch of your insides, his pulsing veins scraping your walls that clenched tighter around him at every movement your trembling hips made, he noticed the slight shake in your thighs and wrapped his hands around your waist to help you with the pace, but when he felt you were nearing your own climax he abruptly stopped and lifted you upwards, a small moan of protest rising from your sweat-dampened chest and neck
cowboy! felix who places you on your knees in front of him and guides you down to rest on your forearms, tracing a gentle line over the curve of your arched back all the way to your glistening core reflecting the amber shades of the dying fire, with an anxious movement he pushed himself deep inside your warm embrace again, repeated moans dripping from your lips at every heavy thrust of his hips, his rough hands tightening around your waist to ground both of you right before a wave of raw pleasure washed through your bodies, leaving you both to fall limp to the dirty ground tangled to one another
cowboy! felix who still felt his skin a bit slick from last nightโs activities, but still buttoned his shirt and adjusted his jeans and chaps at the rise of dawn, preparing his horse for another day of riding under the scorching sun, only this time he was accompanied by the warm embrace of your arms around his waist and the pressure of your chest pressed against the muscles of his back, galloping in the completely opposite direction of the town that set a price too high for your beautiful head and your intoxicating lips

your secret admirer invites you on a date at the park and neither of you checks the weather broadcast for the day
โคท a/n : this is my entry for the "one on one" task for @stayblrofficial x ouran host club event >////< yeah it was supposed to be a quick thing I know but I enjoyed doing so much and I was also in need of some comfort today since I woke up with so many cramps bcs of my period :')
โคท contains : fluff rainy date changbin shy boy school/college au โฎ โ โ wc [ ~700 ]
โคท now playing : here comes the sun by the beatles
My legs were crossed as I sat on the parkโs bench and kicked my knee up and down in uneaseness, quietly watching a few grey clouds gathering together above the trees.
I checked again at the small pink note that appeared under my door that morning, with nothing but โPark Villageโ and โ5pmโ written roughly on it. No name was attached nor anything that could give away who it was written by, just that rough handwriting that I had seen once on some notes at the studentsโ board and that reminded me too much ofโ
Changbin, who apparently trotted down the greenery path with a short breath before stopping right in front of me. I looked at the pink note again, then up to his slightly flushed face, feeling a little heat spread through my own cheeks, but I wouldnโt give in that easily.
โUsually Iโm the one who's always late.โ
โSorry to leave you waiting. Hyunjin wanted my help to study for an exam.โ
โHe did?โ I lifted one of my eyebrows in disbelief.
He gave a deep breath and mumbled a weak, โ... no. I almost chickened out.โ
โThank God you didnโt. Or else I would be the only one getting drenched in the rain and then you would have a problem.โ
Changbin chuckled lightly while scratching the back of his neck. โA park looked like the right choice for a date with someone from Rose Club.โ
A small reluctant smile spread over my lips as I looked at the sky again. โWouldnโt expect anything less than perfect on that matter from someone from Kiss Club. Cโmon letโs go take a walk before the rain catches us.โ
For the next fifteen minutes we walked through the flowers and the grass, getting to know each other better, talking about the craziness our house members would do for some points. We played with a stray orange cat resting nearby, making Changbin curse over his allergies, until a few drops started falling over our heads.
We glanced at each other before running back to the school, but the weather broadcast had predicted heavy rain and in just a few minutes the sky was way darker than it should be at that hour of the day. Without thinking twice Changbin grabbed my hands and pulled me under a tree, took off his jacket, threw it over my head, and picked me up on his arms as easily as one would pick a flower in a garden, running back to the growing storm.
A surprised gasp was still caught on the back of my throat at his ease and quick thinking on protecting me from the rain. The raindrops still drenched the silk ballet flats I picked for the secret date and I could feel his damp shirt clinging to his back muscles already, but feeling his strong arms wrap around me so easily made all my worries go away as I rested my head on his shoulder.
At the student's hall, he finally placed me gently on the ground, chest still heaving from the unexpected sprint. Both our skins dripped wet and our clothes couldnโt be more damp and miserable.
โIโm so sorry! This wasnโt supposed to go like this, it was horrible, andโโ Changbin breathed out in a blurt of words, when I suddenly pulled him down and placed a soft kiss over his lips. I could feel him holding his breath back in shock, muscles tensing up then softening down, a shiver running from my skin to his.
When we separated both our faces were tinted by a pink flush, he hesitantly put his fingers over his mouth as a shy smile curled on his lips, dropping to his knees in front of me. My eyes widened at the exaggerated reaction, giving him a warm giggle.
I draped the jacket back on his shoulders and placed another light kiss on his cheek, as I turned around to leave I took a quick glance back.
โThe next time you should check the weather before setting a date in the park, Changbini!โ
On the next morning, when the grass was still a bit dewy from yesterdayโs storm and the smell of rain still drifted over the campus halls, Changbin was the one to notice a lilac note under his door with an elegant cursive handwriting and a rose attached to it.
โLetโs meet again today at that cute cafe in the corner, at 5pm. Bring an umbrella just in case ;) โ yours trulyโ
