As for Jer, not only did he want to change his name but we noticed he’s been practicing writing it. One of the first things he said to us last week was “can I use my new name now?” He wasted no time, we all have the same last name now.

I wasn’t sure how I’d say this, so …….. after each of of talking to the judge, me, Aaron, then his grams, the judge talked for it seemed like a million years, then she let Jeremy talk and tell her his feelings on everything. All I remember is seeing everyone, all of us, the attorneys, the judge and us three all with tears running down our faces, when he finished, she talked about how impressed she was with him and a few other things, then said let’s not wait any longer, congratulation and the best of luck to you and your new family! We all hugged and cried, said thanks to everyone, including our other new family member (Jer’s grandma) and that was it! It’s official! He’s our son! LEGALLY!! 💙
