On a road trip in the Yukon last year, we did the Yukon Gold Explorer’s Passport contest - we had to go to different sites and get stamps (we wanted the pin!) This led us to lots of small cultural centres and museums in towns along the way, each detailing the history of Indigenous people there, and especially the impact of colonization and the residential school system. It was incredibly eye opening and moving, and I was struck by how little of this I had learned in school.
