Using an aging filter to draw myself older. I decided to draw myself as I wanted to make the project more personal. I think the look of wrinkles can be interesting to draw and how they are so intricate.

Part of poem by Pat Fleming. I chose this poem as I wanted to find out more about what it’s like to age and lose your memory. Personally it is something I am afraid of so I wanted to challenge myself by looking into it more.

I decided to use ink to try create more abstract looking portraits. This isn’t something I would normally do but I felt that a lot of the time I get too focused on detail, so by using ink it meant i had to go straight in and not think about what i was drawing too much.

Drawing using a reference then taking the photo away and trying to draw the same image. I did this as I wanted to test how well I could remember the proportions and shadows of the face. I found it a lot harder than expected because although i’d already drew the photo before it was hard to put the image into my head onto the paper.

William Utermohlen was an artist diagnosed with alzheimers. His work shows the progression of the disease as he documents the loss of himself and his identity. His later works are unrecognisable as a self portrait, highlighting how fearful it must be to lose his memories and also the skills he once had.

Oil and acrylic paintings by Benjamin García - I like these paintings as I feel that the movement of the faces portrays a lot of emotion, even though not all of the features are shown. Personally theses paintings shiw worry and anxiousness through the mark makings and multiple features.
