it’s almost midnight, it’s difficult for me to sleep, and i have an hour to kill. i realize that haven’t reflected on my academic career in a long time. school starts in nineteen days, and as amazing as last year was, i know things will change. like all years, there will be times when I struggle to understand a subject, or when I put a lot of effort and don’t get a grade that i’m happy with - when that happens i’ll need to remind myself two things. for everyone who is reading this, whether you’re a student or not, these are the two best pieces of advice anyone has ever given me: “maybe you need to be a little nicer to yourself” and “it’s okay to not be perfect”. just as we learn from mistakes, imperfection can lead to perfection.
