the funniest part abt s6 daniel to me is that he just doesn’t question how and why ein is at the cave. he hasn’t seen this guy since highschool and has like basically NO context abt s4 besides him helping Aaron recover. so this is the first time he’s probably even thought abt this guy in years. yet he sees ein literally controlling his best friends and is like “yup this is in character for him”😭😭

ik it all boils down to personal preference but I personally find a “shut up hug” to be so much more better and meaningful than a “shut up kiss” in media and it feels very under appreciated. don’t underestimate the power of hugs to leave someone speechless from the pure love within the action alone.

it doesn’t matter what kind of love it is, whether it’s romantic or platonic or family or anything. shut up hugs communicate so much immediate love and comfort, and I don’t see that version of that trope be talked abt as much

#thank you so much to my lovely mutual kray for talking abt this with me #no joke I think that was like. top 10 conversations of my life idk why I felt so emotional #I didn’t know how badly I needed to talk abt the concept of hugs but oh my god #anyways. I often see people going crazy over shut up kisses in fiction #and while they can be great on their own I rarely see people talking about shut up hugs #not to say they don’t exist in media but I don’t see people hyping them up like they do with shut up kisses #like something abt shut up hugs are so powerful and emotional #bc rlly there’s nothing stopping the person from continuing to talk and yet they do because they’re so taken aback #they feel and understand the absolute love within that hug #they feel the warmth and genuine care from the other person and realize that they’re loved #that someone has their back and that the person hugging them is trying to say “hey I understand you completely and I’m here for you”#and a lot of the time that person hugging them needs it as much as they do and it says so much more than words ever could #like idk that just gets to me. it always hits me right in the feels #it might be bc to me hugs are some of the biggest forms of affection and bc my entire family loves to hug #but something abt shut up hugs are so deeply under appreciated and underutilized and beautiful #they can reveal so much about a character to the same level as posture and how they walk can #it tells a lot about them #and I think that’s awesome #they’re genuinely beautiful to me and one of the most human things out there #but that’s just my personal opinion tbh #I wanna reiterate I don’t hate shut up kisses but I think a lot of media tends to want to focus on romance a lot #that they forget other forms of affection are also excellent and work just as well and depending on context maybe even better #but again. that’s just me #I want more love for shut up hugs pretty pretty please #amphibia made me realize my love for them back in like 2022 and ever since I’ve been hooked emotionally #berry yaps #hugs

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
