whenever i talk about my interpretation of rodimus and megatron’s relationship i feel like that screencap of spongebob when the ice cream truck falls on him because. i really do not and did not see megarod while reading IDW. i feel crazy bc it is arguably the most popular rodimus ship and as the rodimus guy of my group i feel like i should be into it but i am just really, really not. i was actually kind of confused on how their relationship developed and how rodimus can say he doesn’t deserve the punishment he was given. i feel like we went from megatron poking fun at him and mocking him to rodimus just deciding he wants to save his life. i feel crazy 😭

and this is absolutely no shade to any megarod shippers. i know there are a lot of you! i just get nervous to share my thoughts on how i view them because there are so many megarod fans and i don’t want you guys to think i’m calling you bad people because i don’t like the way megatron treats rodimus. you are not bad people i’m just the way that i am!!!!!

#right???#like the switch happens right after Megatron reunites with them from the functionist universe #but the last impression they had of him before that was that he was betraying them and hid so he wouldn't return to their universe to trial #and Rodimus straight up says he hates him and gets Magnus to agree #so the random flip to suddenly being really buddy buddy with Meg and missing him is so jarring??#I think if the 'i just think we're at our best when we're together' was reversed it could've worked better #Megatron would've had like 700 years to mull over the events and the LL and maybe come to that conclusion #but everyone else only had like 4 weeks while the idea of betrayal is fresh in their minds #I don't doubt that Meg and Roddy could grow close and discover feelings of fondness and respect for eachother #but it feels like the comic just skipped over a big important part of the story #I think getting Meg to REALLY grow close would take like a million pages tho🥀 slowest burn of the century #so they probably just skipped a whole lot of character development just to get the comic closer to the finish line #maybe if they just left Rod and Meg's relationship as still dubiously tense and distrustful but showed Meg willing to grow close ...#and then like. open ended interpretation of where their relationship could go from there #wouldn't be very satisfying but it would've felt less jarring #transformers #rb
