I watched episodes 1-6 in one sitting, then found it increasingly hard to maintain the same kind of conviction to finish through the rest, just barreling through them sporadically in the last week. Don’t get me wrong: I loved watching the series, but sometimes it’s not enough for Ko to shout incessantly about how weird the people were to hold my attention for too long. Still! Arakawa Under the Bridge might not have been the most consistent with their well-executed comedy—let’s face it, some jokes were overused: Mayor’s fake yokai identity, Sister’s tendency to go into War Mode at the slightest suspicious movement, Stella’s bara transformation, etc—but then they give us gold moments like the screen caps above and I remember why I even liked the series enough to continue watching it in the first place.
Ko’s apparent inability to act composed whenever Nino so much as proclaim him as her lover is absolutely adorable though, something I really enjoyed watching. It’s just so endearing watching him go red through the whole ordeal. His complete lack of experience when it came to ~love really got to me, for some reason. At first his quick attraction to Nino was questionable: nobody falls in love with someone that fast and that hard, especially because their “romantic relationship” only came to be because he didn’t want to owe Nino his life. But when you consider the fact that Ko pretty much grew up with a distant father, it really isn’t what weird, after all. Having Nino there to provide him with the attention and treatment his father deprived him of, no matter how unnaturally executed (because who feeds someone a whole fish, really), it’s only expected for Ko to see her as someone he should cherish.

It’s still weirdly appealing for me to see Ko react extremely at the littlest thing Nino says or do. I might just be attracted to idiots/losers in general, I don’t know.
So, yeah. I enjoyed watching this. It has the weirdest set of characters you end up liking, OP/ED songs are great (I especially liked the OP a lot), and the art’s memorable. In general, under the randomness of the whole premise is a story with something to tell. It teaches the viewers to appreciate the tiniest things in life, and that there is happiness to be found anywhere, even under a bridge.
Bepero-bro's pretty much a recently made inside joke only I was amused about, involving a large pepero box I gave as a birthday gift, a sharpie, and my lame lettering skills. Suffice to say I gave the box a new name and was very embarrassingly proud of it.
