Mama Katniss and Papa Peeta headcannons!
Katniss calls them "my babies" forever. It doesn't matter if the boy already has a beard on his face, he still her baby.
Peeta loves listening to them talk. To their questions he never says the answer directly, he likes to see them discover it. "What do you think?" It's the thing he loves to say the most.
Katniss teaches them to shoot a bow and survive in the woods at an early age. But it takes a lot longer to teach them how to kill animals. They have enough food at home to not need to hunt. She wants them to be mature enough before facing death, she had to do this at a very young age, before she was truly ready.
Peeta loves telling bedtime stories, he invents fables and fantastic stories. Katniss is terrible at making up stories, so she prefers to hum until they fall asleep.
Peeta is very strict about bedtime and mealtimes. He grew up in a house with too much discipline... so even after years he still attaches great importance to the rules.
